2023: FOUND ANOTHER CHILDS POOPY UNDERWEAR IN THE DRESSER. GROSS. GROSS GROSS. the novelty has worn off. Seriously, a little extra care with cleanliness would be nice. Too many other nasty things to list.

2019: I enjoyed the resort and our cabin, but there were some lights that didn’t work, the screened in porch, and entire deck area was absolutely filthy. The rugs inside were pretty dirty, the blanket on the bed smelled of women’s perfume, as did one of the pillows. The bed was not queen, as advertised but it was a double bed. The “tv” was a 12” tube tv from the 90s. The “pond” was beyond disgusting. A rake could help get the leaves out of the water, but the shore was nothing but slimy geese poo. There is definitely a variety with the cabins that you get, some better kept than others. For the price, each cabin should be better kept. Some others had very clean and cozy screened in porches, working lights, wifi, actual queen beds, etc. I’d stay again but look very very carefully at the photos first.

2022 Update: We had a good cabin the next year and then another dud. This was actually the worst cabin we have ever stayed in. I left a very long list in the cabin of things that need to be attended to, but it included:

HUGE tear in screen on front porch and burned out bulb burned out bulb in main bedroom and blinds did not open and close properly Several burned out/non functioning lights in the "living room" area, porch, stairs, and loft Several tears in the screened in porch, so there were a lot of bugs getting in. Lamp on porch was completely rusted and non functional Lots of cobwebs inside and out. Rug on porch was filthy and a trip hazard. Specifically picked a cabin that was not pet friendly, only to find fur on just about everything. The "basic" included dishes were indeed VERY basic. Most of the drawers were just empty. the floor was also really dirty and the pillows were awful.

It's really disappointing. We have had much better cabins and while I understand they are each individually owned and rented, you should keep to at least a basic standard. This is not a small cost. I'd really like a one night refund, or a discount on our next stay. These issues are ridiculous, honestly. It's pretty basic to make sure all the lights work.

Thanks...

What a pleasant getaway! I don’t know even where to start. Originally I found a different cabins, they were not that far from a lakeside resort & they seemed more attractive to me:) but my husband’s friend dearly recommended this one, so that was a last minute call, and I was really nervous about booking a cabin, as I didn’t know what to expect. I looked over the resort map and was trying to find a perfect fit for our family, I contacted service desk few times over the email and phone calls and they were really nice, polite and helpful by answering all of my questions. We picked a cabin G1, which is pet friendly (we didn’t know if we will be able to find someone to take care of our dog, as we booked a cabin 3 days before arrival) also it has a Wi-Fi (as a school year already started and my son was able to do his homework over the tablet). Fire pit was a huge plus as kids has much fun roasting marshmallows and Shish kebabs, and we were able to enjoy a quiet night in the front of the fire :)) lovely! Cabin was neat and clean, it has everything we needed. Despite the season was over and there was no bingo, crafts or other entertainments, we were able to find lots of attractions around. Fishing, hiking, small cute beach to built a sand castle, kayaking biking, cozy play room, small but cute playground, farm few min away from the resort, boat tour and horsey rides, zoo right next to the beach just 20 min away.... and many more. It was a perfect getaway, we stayed there 4 night and wanted to prolong for another 2 days, unfortunately my son’s school wasn’t happy about him missing school for another 2 days and we have to get back. Still it’s an amazing place, thank you for unforgettable memories!P.S strongly recommend, don’t forget about sheets, they have a laundry room if you need to wash them :))) luckily I read the descriptions and grab mine from home, but some people complaining about it! Also one little thing I wish was improved - it’s a shower head, I wish it was removable so I could wash my 20 month old without entering shower with her, other than that I have nothing to...

It is hard to find a place to go to getaway from home in the middle of a pandemic. After a few hours of searching, my friend and I decided to spend 3 nights and 4 days at Lakeside Cabins Resort. The cabins have a full kitchen and the location is only 1.5 hours from my condo in Chicago. The prices were more affordable than Airbnb and Vrbo mostly due to lower cleaning fees. The grounds also have nice amenities (pool, kayak/ stand up paddle boards, volleyball, catch and release fishing, basketball, shuffleboard, fire pits, etc.) ||||We picked Cabin C62 because of its patio/deck space and lake views. The cabin is somewhat dated, but it was very clean. You do have to bring towels, linens, shampoo/conditioner/dish soap, paper products, etc. which makes for more packing/ planning but we expected this so it wasn't an issue. The sleeping lofts can be used by children or adults. I had no problem going up and down the stairs both during the day and in the evening/night. The only "problem" that we ran into was that our DVD player was not working when we tried to watch a movie the first night. We reported this to the front desk and they purchased a new DVD player and delivered it to us in a timely manner so we were satisfied. The staff was very friendly.||||||We were able to find more than enough to do and were also able to relax. The property is very kid friendly and not loud at night or early in the morning which is exactly what we were looking for. After my rental experience, I am considering purchasing and building a new "tiny house" on the property. I've always wanted a second home, and this is a very affordable way to be able to do so nice and close to home! I plan to visit again next month with my husband for another short getaway. ...

Our family of four just spent a wonderful week at Lakeside Cabins Resort, I highly recommend it! It was a relaxing, easy getaway--you can easily walk to the resort's lake, pools, playground, fishing dock, and trails. There are boats and life jackets out, you can just jump in whenever you want. I really appreciate how easy it is to do all these things without having to get into the car with our young children. The owners and staff are all really nice and helpful. We visited the nearby Warren Dunes State Park and Warren Woods National Natural Landmark on the owners' recommendation, and they were both fantastic. We also had a great meal and a enjoyed a round of mini golf at the local Journeyman's Distillery. The resort had organized activities on Saturday and Sunday, and the kids had a blast. The other visitors were all super friendly, this place has a great community vibe going on. Some things to remember: These are individually owned, so the cabins will vary--different furniture, different quality of kitchen utensils, etc. When you're booking online, click on the available cabin photos to see inside. We brought a hand vacuum and lots of cleaning supplies, and I'm glad we did. We also brought and used a fan for the loft, since I read that it can get warm up there at night. Our cabin didn't have a coffee maker, it was a Keurig machine, so we bought a little Mr. Coffee at Meijer when we did our grocery shopping. The grills are super easy to use, definitely plan on grilling if that's your thing. Bring fishing rods, bicycles or scooters, a puzzle, etc. We had a fantastic trip and we're already planning our next visit. Thank you for a great week!!
