This state park has a little something for everyone. It has plenty of hiking trails, although a lot of them you have to drive to. It has lots of spots for fishing and a huge beach. You can rent canoes, kayaks, and small boats. The shower building looks like it was redone not too long ago. Beatrice campground is quite a drive from the main campground and is very rustic. Most sites couldn't fit more then a tent but honestly that's what I liked about it. You really feel like you're camping in the woods at Beatrice. We camp in a big tent, so this is important to us. Only one shower house for the whole campground, and it's located in the first loop, with no available parking close to it, so if you camp in the farthest loop, plan to walk 15mins for a shower, or park in the very congested visitor parking and walk about 5 mins. Read moreThis is one of the best parks in Minnesota. It's located between two lakes. The campground is on Side Lake, and has great fishing and boating space. Also space to keep your boat in the water. Bathrooms and showers are brand new, and are very nice. Cross the street, and your're at the DNR's best swimming beach in the state. Staff are great, sites are perfect. Great little town as well. Fantastic ice cream a block or so down the road.
Hiking is great, with wooded trails that wrap around the bay. Grab a map and go exploring, great biking too.
Only down side, good luck getting a site. This place is very popular. Probably...
