This state park has a little something for everyone. It has plenty of hiking trails, although a lot of them you have to drive to. It has lots of spots for fishing and a huge beach. You can rent canoes, kayaks, and small boats. The shower building looks like it was redone not too long ago. Beatrice campground is quite a drive from the main campground and is very rustic. Most sites couldn't fit more then a tent but honestly that's what I liked about it. You really feel like you're camping in the woods at Beatrice. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the people flying down the road on their 4 wheelers at night and the kids doing burnouts in the parking lot.

The state park overall was nice. Sites were well kept. I would use caution if coming here for the first time, as some of the sites on the main campground are not nice and level. We camp in a big tent, so this is important to us. Only one shower house for the whole campground, and it's located in the first loop, with no available parking close to it, so if you camp in the farthest loop, plan to walk 15mins for a shower, or park in the very congested visitor parking and walk about 5 mins. Gets 4 stars for the beautiful beach, and the gorgeous chain of lakes- fishing was top notch, and we always caught something. Very kid friendly! My kids had a blast!

My favorite place on Earth. This state park is home to a family-friendly, pet-friendly campground. There are two beaches within walking distance. One is a few steps away, perfect for kayaking, boating, fishing, and other lake activities. The other, across a sometimes busy street, is sandy for what seems like miles. Bathroom facilities are recently renovated, and luxury... well... for us camping folks. Stop by the CCCampground gas station for the best ice-cream cones, and head across the lake to Bimbo's Octagon for delicious pizza and wings! There are trails to hike and bike, as well as plenty memories awaiting you at McCarthy Beach.

This is one of the best parks in Minnesota. It's located between two lakes. The campground is on Side Lake, and has great fishing and boating space. Also space to keep your boat in the water. Bathrooms and showers are brand new, and are very nice. Cross the street, and your're at the DNR's best swimming beach in the state. Staff are great, sites are perfect. Great little town as well. Fantastic ice cream a block or so down the road.

Hiking is great, with wooded trails that wrap around the bay. Grab a map and go exploring, great biking too.

Only down side, good luck getting a site. This place is very popular. Probably...
