I have played a great many PGA pro level on-tour courses around this globe; Chestnut Hills 'The Country Club'; Ventura; SpyGlass; Riviera; St Andrews; Lady Bank; Carnoustie, Doral; Farmington; to name a few. I am a huge fan of European Golf courses, and philosophy; Play them as you find them. Manicured golf courses are no finer than the one's found in Japan, where they literally hand cut the fringe; average cost is $300 a round. This Choctaw Creek course in not an ego course. Its rough and tumble and can be a visual nightmare. Make a mistake, and you will pay for it. Greens usually hold well, but will challenge good putting skills. Its what golf is meant to be. Reminds me of UK courses; where golf was born. Yes, it has room for improvements; drainage can be an issue and cart paths; which I noticed recently are getting fixed. Yes the parking lot is a moon surface to drive on. Neither are where I play the game of golf; hopefully. Hell, in England the parking lot is mushy dirt and gravel. If you challenge this course - bring you A game. Embrace this course for what it represents. It will draw you in and make you want to beat it; that's what golf is about. The course is your challenger. Oh you will cus at the Creek. Its not giving you a walk in a manicured park, and it will not yield to you easily. Love hate relationship; its perfect! The people are a fantastic bunch, who will laugh at your excuses; all you will hear is 'just get it done.' The grill; Bobby's food is is masterful. Families come to the Creek just to eat the food. So, if you're shorts got creases in them and you cannot handle a real golf challenge, the food may be the reason you come to the Creek. Want to know if you really can play golf, check your handicap after you play this hidden gem. Oh, and the club house isn't there for your shopping delight, nor is it designed to make you feel better about yourself. Its functional and staffed with very nice people. A great big thanks to all of...
Read moreI had a tee time that I had reserved on GolfNow and the person that was apparently running the place claimed he couldn’t honor it on a holiday. He claimed that they contacted GolfNow early the morning of the tee time (that I got less than 24 hours before I was supposed to start) about changing the prices to their normal green fee that you pay for at the course. I was not contacted about the change in green fee change and was told when I had gotten there that I was going to pay over twenty more dollars than what I was supposed to be charged. I showed them my reservation I made with GolfNow and they continued to try and cover there butts by claiming they contacted them that morning when there was no notice of it to me and no communication on there end that it had changed at all until I got there and was ready to play. They were completely unprofessional and the cashier behind him was being apologetic towards me while this guy was trying to cover his own butt. I did not appreciate the experience and thought that they could have most certainly handled the situation with more respect and dignity. Point is do not golf here on a holiday and call and make sure that they aren’t cheating you before you show up because the owner is incompetent. Tread...
Read moreThis course is in my top 2 WORST courses that I've ever played. I can't believe I paid $54 to play it (twosome).
The carts were so slow that I could have walled faster backward. Just pitiful.
The tee boxes were bare. There was barely any grass on them.
I hit a ball down the left of the fairway on #5 and realized as I was walking up to it that there were a few balls from the driving range on the fairway. Very annoying...
Then, I went to #6 and realized there roughly 1,000 balls from the driving range on that fairway. Seems the course couldn't be bothered to put up a freakin' net to keep the range balls off the course.
I quit after 6 holes because I didn't feel like enduring the torture any longer. Then, on the way out, the net on the OTHER side of the range was blowing half way across the road so as to try to catch people leaving.
I'll never play this "course" again. No self-respecting player should. Make the drive to the next nearest course and enjoy your...
