Came with the family here for Labor Day weekend 2024, my parents rented 2 cabins for the 3 day weekend and we rented a camper spot. Spent a total of $800 amongst the family, not counting the multiple towels ($14 per towel for paper thin dollar tree quality towels) and other odds and ends that we needed over the weekend.
We rented one of the pontoons for a few hours, well they sent a child out to get us on the boat who didn’t seem to know too much about it. Ok no big deal, at least we know about boats so we can figure it out. Well the first boat she tried to put us on, the shift linkage was broken and we needed to be pulled back in. Sat on it for a good 30 mins and got burned for no reason while the guys tried to figure it out. Got moved to a second boat and that one made it about 15 ft out and then wouldn’t move. Also sat there another 30 mins then needed pulled back in to the dock. Whatever stuff happens, we weren’t worried too much about it. The girl said we could get our money back and the office offered us the boat in the morning for free for the inconvenience. Next day we go to check on the boat and office staff was unsure if it was even repaired. Instead of playing musical chairs on boats for an hour again we just decided to ask for a golf cart. They were kind enough to let us use the golf cart and we offered to pay for it for the extra time and were told no, take it for the day it’s fine. We were told no kids could drive it, no one under the age of 16. I let my niece who is 18 drive it and she was immediately flagged down by a minor that works or lives there? and asked for her license and told to go the speed limit of 5 mph. She went to take her license out her pocket and was told no it’s fine I don’t need to see it. It struck us as odd especially since there were multiple young girls flying by on golf carts, but we didn’t say anything. We let our daughter drive the golf cart one lap and she was also immediately flagged down and asked for a license. She didn’t even have pockets much less a wallet on her so they came to the campsite and were aggressively demanding to see her license. She did not have it on her and this seemed to be a huge problem for them. If this is the case then, perhaps we should submit licenses at the time of rental so there is no continuous harassment the entire time people have your golf carts. Service was just slow overall, the first two days we were patient and didn’t let us bother us but after the whole chasing our kids down demanding licenses, well our patience was lost. This is a nice small place for the kids, we felt very safe setting them free to ride bikes and play around. Curfew is at 1030 for the kids which was also nice. My sons crocs were stolen at the beach during the bubble party. I went to the front and asked them if anyone had turned them in thinking maybe someone had accidentally put on the wrong shoes, and was told “maybe a sibling put them on.” Instead of “we’ll keep an eye out or we’ll call you if they show up.” Just completely dismissed the facts his shoes were taken and he had nothing to out on his feet. I actually wouldn’t even have anything bad to say if it weren’t for the last day all the shenanigans over a golf cart. It was not brand new and looked about as wore out as the boats that refused to work for us. I’m sure maybe it’s a nice place if you live there or are seasonal, they definitely seem to show preference to those people as you can tell by them flying by on golf carts (also young Children driving as well) and not being told a thing or harassed. Bathrooms and showers were actually decent. Firewood sucked- was very very hard to get the fire going even with a fire starter. People partied all night, were very loud well until 3 am. Did not bother us, but could bother the next person who is trying to relax. Sadly I don’t think we will go back. Too much of a hassle to do anything when we just wanted to go have a good time...
Read moreWe, my husband and three kids ages 4-9, booked the “bunkhouse” which is the 2015 camper trailer. We stayed Friday-Monday. We arrived and the camper was full of flies and dirty. The floor was filthy. I would say there were 30+ flys. After spending time dealing with that and cleaning up everything seemed ok. We had great neighbors who have a yearly lot at the campground. They told us that the cleaning lady was just there. So whoever the cleaning lady is is NOT doing a good job at all. Also, right in the front where you spend all of your time camping under the awning was pure mud! No grass at all!! It had rained the day of and it was just mud. We had to go and buy a 8x10 tarp to lay in the ground to walk on. Nasty. The playground was great! It seemed new and had fresh new tire mulch and was very safe. The basketball court was also ok. We walked down to the lake and it was nasty. The beach itself was ok but the volleyball court was no existent and over weeded. No volleyball nets at all. The beach had a ton of nasty algae/ sea weed. There were large rocks and old street chunks in the water. Very dangerous for kids to swim in without swim shoes!! The fishing was ok. Only caught a few small perch. The bathrooms and showers were right next to the playground and our camper which was very nice. So if we had to go to the bathroom we just used that bathroom. We only used the camper one during the vending and at night time. The following morning we noticed a smell from the camper bathroom. Turns out that the toilet/ sewage from the last people were never emptied. My husband and the one and ONLY older man on staff THAT DAY had to drain it. Ridiculous! This should have been done before we arrived. The smell was so horrible that my kids and I had to go to the playground for a good hr. Also they never explained how we would have to empty the grey water ( used water in camper). My husband is luckily a very handy man and knows how to do things like this. But the point is we shouldn’t have had to!!! They had hardly any staff! Only one person doing everything and it was almost impossible at times to get a clear answer or even buy something at the little store there. If the guy was on the phone or helping another camper the store was either locked or I had to wait 15 mins to buy salt and pepper! We went to rent the pontoon boat on Sunday. The young girl told me they didn’t have gas for it!! This was one of the main reasons we picked this campground in the first place. Irritating. We will never go back to this campground again. It seemed to me that the campground has great potential. Simple things that could be done to make it better. Over priced and under staffed. When you don’t put the work into the campground to make it better it won’t be better. It’s very unfortunate bc everyone here at the campground that we came into contact with was super nice and friendly. Everyone waved and...
Read moreDecided to give this place a try over labor day weekend. My husband made the reservation over the phone telling her that we would have a 24' camper, a tent, and possibly 6 adults and 2 kids. No problem. We paid $128 I believe for the lot. When we got there the people next to us had some of their stuff where we were supposed to stay so we went to tell the lady and she said "set up anyway". When my husband brought it to her attention what we had planned to put there (because it was such a small area to camp) she said we should probably buy another site. We decided we werent going to deal with that and had planned to leave, no refund. We walked around and decided to see If we could just stay in the primal area as there were only 3 other camps set up. The man working said that was fine. That's the only reason we stayed. My mom came up one day and had to pay a 15 dollar visitor fee even though we paid for 6 adults and up to this point it was just is 2. Me and my mom took my younger siblings to the lake in hopes that it would be worth it. Walked in the water and right back out. Very dirty and seaweed everywhere (even right on the shore line). Awful. When my husband and I were leaving labor day the office wasn't open even though the sign said it would be. We had to wait an hour for her to open it. We only waited because we wanted the 20 dollars back for the magnetic cards to get in and out. I would never recommend this place unless you enjoy wasting your money and being put on a site that's barely wide enough...
