In celebration of our ten-year wedding anniversary, my wife and I spent a week at Raven’s Retreat in Hocking Hills. We were seeking a secluded place away from the city, that would aid in providing rest, relaxation, safety, and peace. We found all of those things in Raven’s Retreat, a small, eco-friendly cabin, tucked back in the quiet woods of Laurelville, Ohio. Built with purpose and out of love for people in need of recharging and reconnecting with nature, the cabin is located on 58 beautiful acres of protected and preserved land. The space is largely no-frills yet completely unique and full of character! It does, however, boast a king-size bed and a private hot tub.
We spent part of every morning and evening sitting out on the back deck observing native wildlife that navigated their way around the pond and through the woods behind the cabin. We cooked breakfast using the small electric range and convection oven, and then made lunch and dinner with the propane grill. On nights we didn’t feel like cooking, we treated ourselves to dinner in town. We ended almost every day by relaxing in the hot tub or sitting around a blazing bonfire. The absence of noise and almost zero light pollution allowed mother nature to sing and light up the dark night sky.
We could have spent every second on the property, but we did spend some time hiking through two of the several public parks in Hocking Hills. They were quite breathtaking. Even when we lost connection with Google Maps (Wi-Fi and LTE are spotty), driving through hilly backroads ended up being fun and enjoyable!
This peaceful trip gave us the chance to slow down, recharge, and reconnect through meaningful conversation, breaking bread, reading and writing, singing and playing music, joking around and laughing out loud, and pondering things without being strapped to a screen and schedule.
I am evergrateful for the time we had to celebrate life and ten years of marriage. Thank you, Raven and Dustin, for creating and sharing such a special and inspiring space. Blessings...
Read moreWe ended up getting to our cabin unexpectedly extremely late. Like after midnight but our cabin was beautifully lit with green lights hanger from the ceiling of our cabin,..... we could see then coming down the drive way because the cabinet pretty much has windows for walls!!! To say it was beautiful would be an understatement! Wow!! Once in side it was so sweet & very warm and welcoming. The cutest little kitchen area. We had an outhouse with an attached shower beside our cabin. The hot tob we didn't even see. But I read it's at the main house just up the driveway. We were greeted with a sweet note welcoming us and a chocolate bar 💜 No wifi, no internet, no phone service was nice for a couple days. Ok so now the funny part, haha we also had a we will call it a note to us and other folks in the future. It said something like we have X amount of water and if you would like to shower you will have to use the provided pot and boil water on the stove. Haha ok here's me I don't see a stove 🤷🤦 but theres a wood burner burning away. Hahaha 😂 The damn thing was electric! Very funny guys 😁😂😂 once I looked a min I come a crossed the elect burner 😁 👏😂👏😂 Thank you so much our stay was Amazing! Oh almost forgot the BEST PART NO KEY!! Read moreOur stay at the Unique Art Lodge in Hocking Hills was excellent! The amount of modern design and artistic details throughout the Art Lodge is unlike anything we had ever seen. And since it is eco-friendly and located on a nature preserve that made it even better. The pictures do not do this place justice. You just have to experience this in person! This property has tons of wildlife, private trails with workout stations and meditation areas in their forest. This property is close to several Hocking Hills State Parks. It was a very special experience for my family! You can tell these hosts have anticipated the needs of guests, and when I messaged them, they got back to me quickly. The Art lodge was also the cleanest cabin that we have ever stayed in. Knowing they use non-toxic cleaning products made the stay even more comfortable. By the way, the luxe linens and beds definitely offer a great night’s sleep. We cannot wait to return; this cabin offers such great value! I wish I would have booked more days. I am planning a girl’s trip soon and I cannot wait to go there again with my girlfriends this winter. Five stars all the way! Thank you, Dustin and Raven for such a great experience. This trip to the Hocking Hills was...
