Fishing buddy and I have never fished the Grande Ronde River, so we booked a guided trip to the lower canyon. Louis was a great guide...personable and professional without being stiff and repetitive. His intimate knowledge of the Grande Ronde proved invaluable to our experience. While the beauty of the canyon and the river speaks for itself, the experience with Louis' guide float made the day one of the best ever on the water...and that's saying something. This young man, his wife and kids have pushed "ALL CHIPS IN" with their acquisition of Boggin's Oasis from the previous owners and it shows. They are committed to providing you the best experience possible in what is one of the most beautiful locations in the PNW. Thank you Louis and Tia for pushing through and sharing your piece of heaven. We WILL be back.

I started going to Boggan's in 1993. The previous owners were acommodating and focused on their guests, often keeping the restaurant open for long hours and providing custom shuttles. There was a community feeling in the restaurant that was very enjoyable. NOT ANYMORE. ||From what I saw, the new owners are focused on their own experience and partying with friends.||Do Not Recommend for fisherman and hunters unless you are only looking for a place to park a camper.||CABINS||Cabins 2 and 3 = 1-star rating|Cabin 4 = 4-star rating||We stayed in Cabins 2, 3, and 4. When we checked in, we were told there were no keys for the door to Cabin 3 and we should not leave any valuables in there. When we said that doesn't work, they gave us the last key to that cabin. The door locks on 2 and 3 are old and need replacing. The cabins have a microwave, but only small plastic cups are provided. There is no way to heat water unless you bring your own mug, etc. The mattresses in 2 and 3 should be replaced and the sheets were clean, but the blankets were stained. The bedding in 4 and 5 was better and cabins 4 and 5 are in better shape.||There is no way to prepare your own food at these cabins, but that is obvious from the booking page, so that is not included in my review.||BOGGAN'S OASIS ||Hours||There is still a picture on the wall of an old readerboard that I remember well from years past. It says "Hours, Early Till Late Steelhead Season." ||NOT ANYMORE.||The hours are terrible for fisherman and hunters. They open at 8am on weekends and 9am on weekdays. They close at 6pm and lock the doors. They also put a garbage bag over the front door and I heard one staff member say they didn't want to invite anyone else in. Forget about fishing or hunting the late afternoon and getting a meal. ||On one morning, nobody showed up until 45 minutes after opening. ||Another morning, we heard the cook preparing our food say she tried to call in sick, but nobody would answer the phone. Yikes, not that hungry anymore.||A few of the nights, the doors were locked and the owner and friends were partying in the restaurant. Pretty much sounded like a frat house.||Dinner Menu - The dinner menu is limited to burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. The burgers were good and so was the river dog. ||Box Lunches - These were also good, but be sure you order them the day before and don't expect to pick them up early the next morning. ||Breakfast Menu - Standard breakfast and no complaints, except that I had a dead fly in my scrambled eggs one morning.||The restaurant staff was nice, but they had their work cut out for them as they had young children in the restaurant watching cartoons that they were trying to take care of at the same time they served customers. ||GUIDES/SHUTTLES||We did not use the guides. But, we overheard the owner say he had the river to himself one day because he told everyone he wouldn't do shuttles down river of Boggan's. This was particularly bothersome as their shuttles are the only option in the area. I was also told by another guest that their shuttle driver was over an hour late to the takeout and he paid more than $200.||IF YOU PLAN A TRIP HERE. DO NOT EXPECT ANYONE TO BE PRIORITIZING...

FYI... WE ARE NOT RELATIVES OR FRIENDS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT (... but we are good friends now). ||||IMPORTANT! ....We're not saying this is a 5 star hotel. Please understand that we're saying this is a 5 star experience, because of it's uniqueness and location.||||This place is phenomenal! It's a hidden secret that really should be enjoyed by those that want to get away to a Little Piece of Heaven. There is no cell service or internet but there is electricity, Heating, and nice amenities in the cabins. Cabins four and five that we stayed in were very clean and supplied with four bunk beds. Our wives and us really enjoyed it. They have a small refrigerator, sink, plenty of towels and nice shampoos and soaps and a pretty good size shower with restroom. A small table with chairs and we loved playing games on the porch with the table and chairs outside. They charge $25 a person per night!||||The restaurant burnt down fairly recently but they are going to rebuild it. In the meantime the elderly couple that own the place, will provide a bed and breakfast style breakfast that was more than we could eat and was awesome! You can dine on their patio if you wish. It's in an older double wide mobile home that it is clean and they only charge $9 for breakfast. They are such awesome people.||||We were amazed how they also manage a shuttle service for those that want to go rafting and need to have their car left at a location. It's a great spot for hunters and fishermen also! We...

Definitely a great stop for milkshakes on a hot day as long as you don't mind waiting a long time in a hot building to get your milkshake. The staff was slow at taking orders and making the milkshakes but the milkshakes were worth the wait if their had been some type of A/C or at least a fan going to cool off the long line of waiting customers. I will never buy food here again though. When my mom and I stopped back by to try the food here it was slow but we still had to wait a while to get our order. The water they served was undrinkable, we were dripping sweat without any relief (it felt better outside) and when we got the food (which wasn't cheap) it was barely eatable. They used pre sliced cheese for my Turkey club, low quality processed turkey (the kind I stay away from buying at the store and microwaved the bacon instead of frying it on the stove top. The Frys were barely cooked through and the ranch was watered way down. The service was terrible and the bill was way to high for what we were served. I will never eat there again and will only stop for a milkshake as long as I have the...
