This is a beautiful Georgia State Park, the highest elevation state park in GA. We first had a reservation for January but a snowstorm at our home in Western NC forced a cancellation. In February on our way home from Moccasin Creek State Park we drove through Black Rock Mountain. The winter views are incredible but the steep and winding road is closed during icy weather so plan ahead and check the weather ! The campground has 2 loops winding around the ridge top with views in many directions. Each campsite has water and electric. Many favor shorter RVs or tent camping because the roads are narrow and winding . When reservations are made vehicle/ RV length is required. There are 44 regular campsites and 12 walk in tent sites as well as 10 cottages ( 5 brand new, another 5 under construction) and 4 back country campsites. The restrooms are clean and have showers. Black bears are in this area so it was reassuring to see the dumpsters are enclosed inside 2 buildings in the campground. Firewood is available for $5/ bundle . The campsites are gravel and have a picnic table and fire pit as well as a lantern hook pole. Some have amazing views while others offer more privacy, surrounded by rhododendron. All sites have tall pines and / or deciduous trees. Trails can be accessed by walking from the campground. There are 5 trails within the park , two very short and easy and the 7.2 mi James E Edmond trail loop the most difficult. We really enjoyed the ADA - Hi Falls trail the evening we arrived and the following day we hiked the Tennessee Rock trail loop using a connecting trail from the campground.

Black Rock Mountain State Park was absolutely beautiful. Beyond, endless, short, easily accessed (especially, as I myself, am certainly, aim for the more "chill-axed" like getaway when on a vacay) scenic trails to check out, within the park even. One, if not the truly best views, were that of the sunrise from the porch of the cottage my family & I stayed in. Super pretty, view over the mountains, while seemingly part of the clouds &/or fog moving through from our location, there we also could lookout above and throughout the entire mountain, down into the valley below simultaneously too. And again, still is the af of aforementioned is only the there. They're endless fun & interesting day trips, within, anywhere from 20 mins. to an hour or so, available from Black Rock too. So much relaxing, light exploring & just pretty views, were, there, right via our cabin. I'm already looking forward to revisiting, eventually. 🏔️☮️💚🌞 💙🌄 😊 🌳

We had a wonderful stay at this campsite. The grounds were beautiful and well-maintained, and the bathrooms were impressively clean. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be coming back! Although we missed the visitor center for check-in, we ended up at the campsite office instead. The lady there was extremely kind and helped us check in right away, saving us the trip back to the visitor center. Overall, we highly recommend this campsite!

Great location, good utilities, clean bathhouses, level sites. Dump station acceptable. Cable at acceptable but not "good" (if you need it that.) Good VZ cell signal (our neighbor was working remotely.) Most sites have little privacy, many are pretty close together, and a few are quite short. Several sites are oddly-placed (37, for example, just seems to be a wide spot in the long driveway for 38.) For a few sites you have a moderately steep back up to the driveway, at others trees make access somewhat difficult - your backing skills will be tested. The road into the park is steep and narrow - even with my 20' trailer, at times I had to use part of the other lane to keep my trailer wheel on the pavement. There were a few big rigs at the campground, but be prepared for a challenge if you...
