We recently came back from a trip to Eagle Valley Campground. There's a great line from Hotel California that describes this place perfectly - "This could be heaven or this could be hell"
What might not be immediately apparently is that this campground is RIGHT next to interstate 90. Some of the spots are less than 100 feet from the cars and trucks whizzing past. If you check the map of the campground, the 42, 43 spots are the closest to the freeway. If you are planning on using a tent any spots from #35-52 are going to be very loud. (We started out in #48 and there was too much road noise to talk to each other without raising our voice). These same spots are very tightly packed in, and don't have a whole lot of shade - just some trees along the "back" of each spot and the rest is wide open. Effectively, there is no privacy. Spots 31-35 are marginal - they are fairly open, but not directly facing the freeway.
We didn't check out the far loop (sites 60+) but my wife told me they were wooded. They are still pretty close to the freeway so I expect they would be pretty loud but might offer more privacy.
We eventually made our way to the upper half of the campground, where we found our heaven. These spots (#9-26 or so) are great! Up in the pines with lots of shade and plenty of room. They are far enough from the freeway to be MUCH quieter and are very comfortable. Yes, there's still some background noise, but it is not bothersome. Many of these are tent-only sites, but a few are drive-through (16,17) and many others are good for backing in trailers or motor homes. We spent a very pleasant weekend up in this part of the campground.
The amenities at the campground were dated, but very clean and well maintained. Their mini-golf course was challenging, the playground was fun, our kids loved their ice cream and it was great to be able to buy ice right there at the campground. We also went into the Teen Center and played some ping-pong and pool. The camp was built in the 70's and feels like it, but not in a bad way. Most spots had water/power hookups, which was VERY nice.
We were there during a weekend where there were no special events. From their website and postings in the offices it looks like there are a number of special events over the course of the summer. I imagine the campground fills up pretty fast and might take on a very different "feel" when there's it's full of people looking to have a good time.
Several other reviews have commented on the staff. Come on folks, you're not at the Hilton. The lady working there was personable and very friendly. The gentleman who manned the front counter was a character - He certainly wasn't rude, but he had his own quirky personality. I thought he was a lot of fun, but I can see how others might take his personality wrong. People with real personalities like this make the place MORE interesting and fun, not less.
So, if you're looking for a place to park a self-contained and noise-insulated camper/rv for a quick sleep, the whole campground is probably fine. If you're looking for a quiet place to land for a relaxing weekend, this COULD be it - Just make sure you pick...

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who made check-in a breeze. The campground is beautifully maintained, with spacious, clean sites that provide plenty of privacy. Eagle Valley’s scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Surrounded by towering trees and picturesque mountains, it’s a paradise for nature lovers. I enjoyed leisurely strolls along the nearby trails, where I was treated to stunning views and the soothing sounds of nature. The nearby river added to the charm, providing a perfect spot for fishing, swimming, or simply soaking up the sun.

Read moreWe stopped here as an over-nighter on our way towards Spokane. (Which we don't recommend Spokane at all. Save your time, visit anywhere else. Sad, dirty, dying place)
Back to this review! :)
Nice points: +Welcoming/friendly staff +Only $40ish for the night +Beautiful views from our spot +Wide open field (pup play time) +Small store on site +Surprisingly level (we were in site #9, which had I placed a bet on it being level, I'd have lost big time if I'd gone by looks and first impressions! But it ended up needing zero leveling. And for any one who's over-nighting, that's always a major plus. Maybe it was the way we pulled in, just right? Who knows.) +Large communal areas (game room and more) +Adequate restrooms (only peeked in, didn't use) +Sites of all kinds for all preferences (full sun, full shade, partial)
Not as nice points: -much further from the Interstate than an over-nighter really wants. (Even though this location "looks" close to I90, which it is once you're there, you're looking right at it, the drive there isn't an easy, quick on-off by any means.) -Can hear Interstate traffic (due to its close proximity) -Old school feel (which many will love, but having managed a highly trafficked campground ourselves for a while, sadly we know lack of funds/reinvesting when we see it) -Poor wifi, even though it was stated it was good.
I think that sums it up for us. We would maybe hit them up if we were in the area again, or maybe see what else is...
