I would NOT recommend this place! It is over priced and their cabins are dirty and terrible customer service! We drove over 25 hours from out of state to Visit family for the holidays and was arriving in the early morning hours, my family went their in person to confirm we could Check in early and was told by their staff member this was totally fine she stated she left notes on my account (never did apparently). I called a few days before our trip and they had told me they had no record of this information only that we were checking in on a totally Different day than what they were told.. Unfortunately none of the staff or new owners care about customer service and all they want is your money. Being in this industry and a manager myself for over 10 years if your team or staff member said something to a customer then you honor it and do what’s best for the customer unfortunately if you loose money because of your staff it’s a lesson learned and you don’t blame the customer as they did. They discounted our rate which was appreciated, but did not honor what we were originally told by their staff. When arriving to the cabin it was dirty smelled like dog pee the rugs were covered in dog pee, fireplace was super loud screeching, heater would Stop working in the middle of The night, hair all over the bathroom floor, and the oven was dirty. I went to management the next day to bring the cleaning concerns to Their attention, and they did bring us new rugs and offered to re clean the room. I denied the re clean since we had our dogs and unloaded everything already and I had already cleaned it myself. The manager Shane told me he walked the unit and didn’t notice a smell and or anything that was dirty, clearly this was not checked prior to a customer checking in. I requested a document in writing to confirm I would not be charged for any of the already pet damage, and was told I could get this. I went in next day and spoke to Brittany the house keeping manager told her about my concerns and she rolled her eyes at me when I told her the cabin was dirty. She also stated there was not a letter for me and told me it was just noted in my account. By this time I was fed up with everything and done arguing with management who doesn’t put their customer first. This is a great location but not worth the money I would stay somewhere else If you have the option to! Update to post- Also, since they are saying all of my information is a lie photos show that the room clearly was not cleaned prior to staying can’t really lie about this. Yes my family was mad because we were told one thing and then they denied everything we were told less then 24 hours before we got there saying that my original reservation was scheduled for Friday when actually I have email confirmation it was for Thursday, in addition we walked into a dirty room so yes we had every right to be mad for paying $389 a night, then charging additional fees after we left for $25 for a room that was cleaner then when we got there.. They have several managers and or people that state they are managers and are not . I’m only stating truthful information for others to know. I do not normally leave reviews but this is absurd, to me the way they acted with customer service in addition to running a business. Yes discounting the rate was appreciated as I stated before but one for the “high pricing” they should walk the room prior to someone staying, also per the manager there were 3 empty cabins that were not even rented in addition to vacant rooms.

We have stayed at Whistlin' Jacks twice now - once in the Naches Cabin, and once in the Yakima cabin. We love it so much we booked an impromptu trip over the Easter weekend, and were surprised with a WONDERFUL easter egg hunt complete with Bunny, 6000 eggs and even some "golden eggs" with a special surprise we retrieved at the Guest check in. First off, the people working there are awesome. Super kind and flexible. We had to reschedule a few times and they quickly applied our deposits etc to the re-booked stays. We were also able to arrange a late arrival when we hit some weather and wouldn't be able to check in before the front desk closed. Both cabins were wonderful, and the hot tubs were well maintained and awesome to have privately - the Yakima cabin even had a privacy fence and the Naches Cabin one was down in the deck and had a sliding glass door. All of the cabins are unique and have their own differences. The sofa is super comfortable and was perfect to pull out into a bed for our son. The alcove bed in both was great, too. The Naches even had an ADDITIONAL murphy bed for a total of 4 beds! The updates are very nice - new gas fireplaces, plenty of hot water and new flooring. Lots of pillows, towels for indoor and hot tub, and lots of blankets - the simple things really help make the stay nice. They even have little keurigs with k-cups, creamers, and working toasters along with the regular dishes, salt/pepper, pans etc. The cabins were really warm (if you wanted that) which is important - and there is also a split-duct A/C for the summer! The views are fantastic. In the Naches cabin, just open the sliding glass door and you can hear the river roaring! (of course windows work too =) ) We saw deer on the grounds in the mornings and evenings, and even some elk! The privacy is very good and while help is a 2 min walk away, we wanted for nothing. The restaurant was stellar - we really enjoyed it. The food top-notch and the servers amazing. One time we arrived to dinner a minute after the seating and the place was empty... and they kept it open just for us! Thanks again! (we couldn't eat in the lounge because we have a 7 year old). We went to live music a few nights and the artists were great. Everything about this place is magical for us. Looking out at the river while dining is just incredible. There is wifi as well which was really critical for us as I had some business to finish while I was there. We have already booked 2 more stays to be sure we have a space in the future. Can't recommend highly enough!!! Next time we are bringing our bikes, too! See photos for Easter fun, restaurant and cabin views, deer on the grounds, etc.

Ahhhhh that was refreshing... Our fam of 4 LOVED our stay, in the Naches Cottage specifically. Here's some random highlights: the winding drive through the mountains and pass provided some seriously epic views and PNW magic along the way, the hot tub with a view of the river was so serene, the cottage was huge with all the amenities for a comfortable and relaxing getaway (incl. fireplace, full kitchen and dining areas, multiple beds), the huge wraparound deck with plenty of seating for dining with a view, the restaurant with a yummy lodge style menu and great beer selection to complement the outdoor patio just above the river, the staff were all so friendly and down-to-earth which made us feel like we were regulars (incl. taking country music requests while we enjoyed happy hour), the s'mores kit at check-in was a hit with our 7-yr-old (and also us adults after a couple drinks lol), the surprisingly well-appointed gift shop and retail items were all fun to peruse and snag souvenirs from our visit, the live music in the bar with obviously REAL locals hanging out was definitely an authentic Chinook Pass vibe, property was big enough to wander around and explore but not too big that we had to walk too far for anything we needed (like ice cream or beers etc). The place was built in the 50's and still has loads of authentically vintage charm, with enough updates, remodels and staffing to make it actually comfortable - the perfect balance for us city folk!

We went hete for breakfast after staying at Squaw Rock resort and were pretty disappointed. At 10:00 in the morning they had one waitress to handle the crowd. Only two tables were used, but several others had dirty cups on them. I was on a cane and couldn't stand long, so after we waited 6-7 mins. and nobody came to see us, we sat down at a table by the window ourselves. The waitress finally came over and said, "I can't let you sit here until I clean off the table," to which we replied, "No one was here and I couldn't stand any longer, so we finally just sat down. You want me to get up and go stand at your reception desk now?" She said "No, I didn't say you had to get up." Then she left. A few mins. later the gal in the Gift Shop came over cleaned the table. At least SHE was friendly. It was my birthday and I really wanted hash browns with breakfast, so when they brought my meal and it had fried potatoes, I politely asked "Is this your version of hashbrowns? ". To which she replied, "No, we ran out of hash browns". I thought at least she could have told me that before I ordered in case I wanted something else. At that point she wasn't happy with us, and never checked on us again until we were leaving. She then asked us if breakfast was okay, to which I replied, " honestly no. " She then snapped why not? And I said because I REALLY wanted hash browns and you didn't tell me you were out, and the fried potatoes were totally tasteless with no seasoning at all... No onions, peppers, even salt. My husband loves fried potatoes and he didn't like them either. Plus I got a ham and cheese omelette which had maybe 1 Tbsp. of cheese inside it and one on top of it. I had wanted to show it to her but she never came back to the table while we were eating. She said "she'd pass my complaint onto the cook" and left. We were also disappointed that all the upholstered chairs you sit on by the window are so old and faded, and when you look at them you can tell the material inside is all bunched up and lumpy, so they were extremely uncomfortable. We weren't happy with our last trip there sev. years ago, so we decided this was it for us. The only plus I would give them, was after we had walked around outside for about 15 minutes, taking in the view, and headed back to our car, she ran out with a little box of raspberry cheesecake with two squirts of whipped cream next to it and a candle on top and said Happy Birthday. I was sure that wasn't her idea, so I have a feeling the two ladies sitting next to our table, having a meeting, one was probably the manager and heard my complaints and asked her to do it. Since we were in the mountains, 45 minutes to an hour away from anything, I had no way to refrigerate it, especially whipped cream, and I don't usually eat dessert after breakfast, but we just pulled over by the river and shared it before we headed home. It was a 'too...
