We stayed at The Inn at Patrick Square while visiting Clemson University. I read the reviews before our stay and was encouraged that the hotel would not disappoint. After driving for 10 hours, we were thrilled to find that the Inn exceeded our expectations.||||First, the location is great. Close to campus with restaurants next door and across the street. The lobby and decor are that of an upscale boutique hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. ||||After a long day of traveling, our room was a welcome sight. The temperature was comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean with continued upscale decor. There were water bottles and macaroons nicely presented. (If you can't tell already, we appreciate the small details that fine hotels such as this put into their businesses.) The room (2 queen beds) had ample space. Nothing irks me more when a hotel doesn't have any room for suitcases or places to actually put your clothes. Our room had plenty of space for 3 large suitcases, luggage rack, closet with hangers and a bench. There were also dresser drawers and nightstands. The lighting was warm and perfectly placed-no offensive white led lighting here! The beds were comfortable and we had a beautiful leather sofa to relax on. There were plenty of outlets smartly placed throughout the room for charging phones. The bathroom seemed brand new and very clean-no dirty grout or mildew. The lighting was great, there was plenty of counter space and shelf storage for 3 adults and their toiletries. Plenty of soft towels, a hair dryer (not the itty bitty cheap kind), and complimentary shampoo etc.. I was delighted to see that the bathroom had a ventilation fan. We've stayed at so many hotels that don't have one and we'll never understand why, especially in the south! As we were traveling by car, we also very much appreciated the bags of ice that were available by the elevator. Before going on our Clemson University tour, we grabbed a coffee at the well appointed in house cafe. ||||Lastly, the price was incredibly reasonable for this level of hotel and all that it had to offer. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night before continuing our college visits through the state. We paid a lot more for the hotel that we stayed at in Columbia and it was not nearly as nice as the Inn. I can't think of anything that this hotel could have improved upon. It's clear that a lot of thought and expertise was put into the small details that make someone's stay truly enjoyable. We hope that Clemson is the place for our daughter and if so, we will absolutely be back at The Inn at Patrick Square for football games and parent's...
Read moreWe travel to Clemson a great deal to visit family, and upon coming across a Groupon coupon for a stay at the Inn at Patrick Square over the recent holidays, we decided to give it a try. Our credit card had already been charged for the room, but upon presenting our card the evening we checked in, it was charged again for a higher room rate than the coupon was for. I immediately went down to the front desk and told the person who checked us in about it. He apologized and said it would be taken care of. The next morning, the charge was still there, and the new front desk individual said "was at a incidental charge for $XX amount?" and I said NO, it was the room charge at a greater rate than what we had already paid for. He indicated he would investigate it and have the manager on duty call me as soon as she arrived mid-morning. Later that day, ANOTHER charge, this one for the incidental charge of the amount he said, was posted to our account. I was livid, and after waiting 6 hours to hear from the manager on duty, I interrupted spending time with my family that afternoon to go and meet with the manager. Upon walking in, who do I meet in the lobby but the manager on duty (who turned out to be the 'operations manager'). I asked her why she didn't call me, and she made an excuse of 'wanting to speak to me personally.' I showed her the now two charges that had been debited from my account, and her excuse was 'we don't have those charges showing in our records (she never proved that), and even if they were charged, we can't debit back--our system only allows for charges, not debits.' While she apologized and promised that both her general manager and her corporate manager would reach out to me, it has been OVER three weeks and still not a word from either of them. While the rooms were comfortable (the insulation between the floors leaves something to be desired though) and the charges finally reversed after three days, the way these charges were handled and the lack of follow-up leaves me to one conclusion: this was our first stay at the Inn at Patrick Square, and it will be our last. Make sure you check your accounts after checking in, because you may not know what has been charged, and even then, they won't provide the service expected at such an...
Read moreI made a reservation with The Inn at Patrick Square several months ago for the weekend of the Clemson-Texas A&M football game this coming September. I booked for three nights – one at $159 and two at $199. Today I received a call from the Inn stating that there was an error in the rate that was offered and the $199 rate would now be $649 per night. I received the regular rate instead of the special event rate by mistake. The Inn refused to honor my original booked rate, but instead offered to discount the $649 rate to $549. Obviously, I believe they should have honored the rate which I booked. By not doing so, the management of the Inn demonstrated a lack of integrity and personal accountability in their operations that others should be aware of. Other companies in this same situation (airlines, other hotels I’ve stayed at, etc.) have chosen to acknowledge their mistake yet hold themselves accountable and honor the original booked rates. The Inn has chosen to compromise their integrity for the opportunity to maximize their profits on a football weekend. Consider the timing of this notification, as well. The Inn knew about this for a few months, yet failed to contact me. What if I had already purchased airline tickets or game tickets? My chances of booking lodging at a reasonable rate were gone months ago, considering the demand for this particular weekend. I’m extremely disappointed in The Inn at Patrick Square, and want to make sure other potential customers are fully informed of their...
