This is a beautiful campground with numerous sites with full lake views. Many of the sites also have easy access directly to the lake. The campground also has a nice boat ramp and a protected swim beach. With 50 amp service and water at the site, it was an ideal spot to spend a few days enjoying the lake. We stayed on Site #85. Back-in, 50/30/20, water with good pressure and flow rate (6GPM), no sewer. Gravel pad. Picnic table on large gravel patio, fire pit, pedestal grill. Site long enough for coach and car. Heavily shaded. Great privacy, no other sites close by. Great view of the lake and easy access to get the kayaks to the water. Two car parking spaces adjacent to site. Site is ideally positioned for views of the sunset over the lake. The site is bordered by Trex landscape timbers. There is ample poison ivy on the other side of those timbers. Backing in definitely required teamwork between my spouse, who acts as my motorhome marshaller, and me. On the left side of the road, right at the edge, there were tree roots that I could not see, but that stuck up above the ground high enough that they would have damaged the front body had I hit them as I cut the wheel to make the turn into the site. On the right side, there was a drop right beyond the Trex landscape timbers. There was also a dead branch hanging down that I could not reach from the ground, so I had to back the rear of the coach right up to it so I could then climb onto the roof to break it off so I didn't damage the top of the coach. Once onto the site, I was able to auto-level as the site was only 0.9° low on right, 0.4° low in front. I would not consider the campground to be particularly big rig friendly. There are low tree branches, narrow roads, bushes and trees on sides that jut into road. But, with all that said, it was manageable in our 36' Class A motorhome. The dump site on our loop was pretty nice, the other is tight and not level. Each dump site had two large dumpsters for garbage. Sites 93 and 94 also have OK access to the water though the hill is fairly steep getting down to the water. Those two sites are across from the boat ramp. 94 in particular has pretty good privacy because it is at the end of the road where there’s just a turnaround Sites 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, and 57 all have decent lakefront access. Though, all of those sites are more standard angled parallel, and don’t really have privacy. 78, 79 and 80 also have acceptable access to the water though again they’re close to each other and don’t really have any privacy; those are the sites that were across from our campsite. Bath houses are older and could use a refresh, but were functional and clean enough.

What a jewel!! I reserved Site #39 and the attached picture reflects the view from the campsite over Lake Hartwell. The check-in process was very smooth and the staff was very friendly. The loop I camped on was extremely quiet through-out my stay. The gates are locked at night, so no folks just wandering through. A number of lakefront campsites have easy slopes down to the water and a number of campers parked boats at their campsites. There are a lot of multi-use trails nearby, as well as trails north of Clemson. On the day I planned a long mtn bike ride, thankfully someone dropped a trail map out on the trail. I stopped to pick up the litter and thrilled that it was a map produced by the South Carolina Upstate Equine Council. There are no paper maps available at any of the trailhead kiosks, and some THs did not have a map on the kiosk board. A bit un-nerving for a rider new to the trail system. Yes, I spent some time wandering up/down various forest roads/trails trying to figure it out. Clean bathroom facilities, friendly Campground Hosts, about 3 miles from Pendelton with a Food Lion, an O'Reilly's Auto Parts (first camping trip since winterizing camper and forgot I had removed the anode rod and of course the socket to install it was in my toolbox at home...), and a Dairy Queen for the "after ride" treat, all in a shopping center just 5 miles away. I'll definitely be returning!

This Corp of Army Engineers campsite was out of this world. Never been to this one but found it on camping app with one photo of the site. Site was more than shown. Fit my 37 foot 5th wheel like a glove and could have fit a 40-45 footer as well. Facing the lake full on as you exit your camper. I have bump outs both sides and Stull had 15 foot of deck space before spacious steps to contoured ground which led to rock lined lake edge capable of Boat docking and kayak launching or swimming. Water was crystal clear. Wildlife abounds. Squirells all day, deer passed through, and a young eagle found his way not 30 feet from me to have lunch. Wayercand 50 Amp service were available on my site, 22, and play area is across paved street. Sites 20,21,22, &23 would be awesome for a family of campers gathering. Dog friendly. Hosts are more than helpful and in fact went out of way to assist me.

We stayed 4 nights tent-camping in #16, a beautiful site with access to the water and lake views more than half way around. A clean shower house is conveniently located, just up the hill about 200' away. This site has power, water, a nice fire pit and charcoal grill. (Note that this campground does not sell firewood.) We enjoyed the beatiful scenery and the relative privacy of the site. ||The only real problem we had was one many other reviewers have mentioned since at least 2017 -- skunks! I recognize we are in nature and should be prepared to deal with the occasional sighting or interaction with wildlife, but this was far beyond the norm and I feel it is becoming dangerous. The skunks have no fear of people and are not deterred by light or fire or noise. I never have food out and we hang our trash bags out of reach, so there was nothing at our site to encourage the skunks, but every night they were trolling our site on multiple occasions, making it difficult to enjoy sitting outside. Not only was it startling to see them coming through the camp site or walking the retainer walls within inches of humans, but I feel the problem has surpassed "nuisance" and is becoming dangerous. Anytime an animal which has a potent weapon and is known to carry rabies becomes unafraid of humans, trouble is brewing. Despite the beauty of the campground, we do not plan to visit Twin Lakes again until this situation...
