This was the 2nd time we camped at Lake Glory. First off- it is very expensive. $60 for the most basic site! I assume they charge this because there is a very limited amount of places to stay near Knoebels, so they can. My review is pretty much the same as the first time I reviewed it 4 years ago, so they clearly haven't improved the campground since we were last there. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. When I called to reserve a camping spot, they let us choose which spot we want, which is appreciated because some campgrounds don't let you pick. We always prefer spots near trees since we camp in a tent and need shade to keep the tent cool during the day. Many of the spots have wooded areas. Overall it is a nice property- small enough that you have no problems walking anywhere you want to go, particularly the bathrooms. But speaking of the bathrooms-- they absolutely need updating. The stalls are made of thin pieces of wood that offer minimal privacy, and none of the doors have locks on them. That is also an issue when I have my toddler with me and he kept pushing the door open open when using the potty. So locks on the doors would be great. They are also pretty dirty. Not just the toilets and sinks, but bugs, nests and webs all over the place. I know we're at a campground and I'm completely fine with a little dirt and bugs- but it would be nice if the bathroom facilities were at least clean so I don't feel grossed out when I have to brush my teeth and wash my face. Please clean your bathrooms better! Also PAPERTOWELS in the bathrooms would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! After you use the bathroom and wash your hands, you have nothing to dry your hands with! I guess this is them just being cheap, but I noticed many people not washing their hands after using the toilet because there wasn't anything to dry your hands with!! GROSS!!! PLEASE PROVIDE PAPER TOWELS!!! [We've camped at state parks and their bathroom facilities are amazing and clean. So I know it can be done.] The campground itself is nice enough- the spots are pretty large. There is also a tiny playground for the kids to play on, but as I mentioned in my last review, THE PLAYGROUND NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED. It is really tiny and keeps the kids entertained for like 5 minutes. Since there isn't much to do at this campground, a larger playground would be much appreciated! The lake is nice to fish from (you have to purchase a pass first), but there aren't many fish in it. But my children had fun attempting to catch a sunny. We like that the campground is a short 10 minute drive to Knoebels. But I wouldn't stay at this campground if we weren't planning on going to Knoebels. There isn't much else to do there, and it is really expensive. I think if you stayed at the Lake Glory campground, you should get a discount on your ride passes or something. Overall, it's a nice weekend trip if you are planning on going to Knoebels, but we wouldn't stay longer...
Read moreI bought two campsites in the electric/water tent site area for myself, my husband, my friend and her husband. Kozmo 33 and 35. It is $65 per night. The sites were largely unsuitable for tent camping as it had rained and water was pooled all over both sites in random spots. It was very muddy and swampy and no elevated areas for a tent. Every place we walked was mud. There were barely any trees for properly hanging things or string lights. There was one fire ring between both sites and we found ours across the way at a whole other site. Luckily we were sharing the one ring so it didn’t matter. Children from surrounding sites kept walking/running through ours at all hours of the night with no intervention from the parents. They started hollering around 7 AM even though quiet hours go until 8 AM, so no sleeping in for us. The bathrooms did not have locks on the doors in the main bathroom for women, the individual toilet stalls were not very clean. Upon returning from Knoebels, my friend’s canopy was completely destroyed. Everything inside was knocked over to one side. Her table, totes, food, support bars on canopy were bent. Apparently wind blew it over according to surrounding campers but it looked more like someone had backed into it/ransacked it. There were quite a few large totes and objects that would’ve kept it secure and there were other light items around that were not “blown away” and nobody else’s site seemed to have an issue. It seemed suspect. In any case, we were supposed to stay Friday and Saturday night but packed up and left Saturday night and received a refund for both sites at least for that night. I was super disappointed with the maintenance of this campground and will not plan to return. I am not sure how Knoebels affiliates themselves with this campground as I’ve camped at Knoebels before and had a positive experience. Not sure I’ll return to...
Read moreI have never had anything stolen from my campsite in the 20+ years I have been camping until I camped at Lake Glory Campground. Apparently someone was looking for coolers that contained alcohol. Our Otterbox cooler was stolen right off our site during the night. It was up against our camper with folded lounge chairs leaning against it covering it. The cooler contained 6 bottles of beer, Vitamin Water and Gatorade, plus some food. Another camper noticed that his coolers were opened during the same night and the one that had beer in it was also stolen. The camp manager told us to call the police to handle the matter. While waiting a long time for the officer to arrive, our neighbor located his missing cooler, only a few bottles of beer were missing. Our Otterbox cooler was never located. When my husband went back to speak to the camp manager he was told we shouldn't have left it outside if we didn't want it stolen.||Needless to say, we will NEVER camp at Lake Glory Campground again. Not only does the "security" suck, there is no cable or wifi service and there is no security gate, anyone can come into the campground without being stopped. It was an expensive lesson to learn but we will never make that mistake again. Times have changed and it seems the ability to trust people...
