Our family absolutely LOVES Hiwassee Acres! Having been guests for a few years now, this beautiful retreat has become our genuine "home away from home." We constantly look forward to our visits and, more than that, we cherish the opportunity to bring new friends and family members with us to share the sheer beauty and tranquil experience that Hiwassee Acres offers.
The dedication of the owners, David and Kathi, is truly unmatched. They pour their hearts into every detail of the property and, more importantly, into their guests. They've moved beyond the role of hosts and have genuinely become like family to us. We are continually impressed by their hard work, commitment, and their vision for the property, and we cannot wait to watch HA grow and flourish in the coming years as we continue to visit.
Beyond the incredible atmosphere, we highly recommend checking out the horses. We easily give the trail ride experience a 10/10 recommendation during our stay! It is the perfect way to slow down, connect with nature, and appreciate the stunning landscape of the property while spending quality time with such beautiful, gentile, kind, and therapeutic animals. Itโs an unforgettable part of the visit and look forward to doing it every time we come back.
Mr. Joe: More importantly, a piece of the true spirit of Hiwassee Acres is embodied by their staff member, Mr. Joe. Over the years, he has also become a member of our extended family. Hanging out with Mr. Joeโs is what takes our simple getaway into a truly memorable experience. His cooking is consistently incredible (we always look forward to his breakfasts) and his skills in building a campfire at night add to the HA experience. Above all, his genuine kindness and huge heart do not go unnoticed. He is an essential part of the warmth and hospitality that defines HA.
We would highly recommend Hiwassee Acres to anyone looking for a refreshing, rejuvenating getaway where you are treated not just as a guest, but as family. Spend time getting to know David, Kathi, Mr Joe and the rest of the staff. You...
ย ย ย Read moreOur stay at Hiwassee acres was NOT what we had hoped it would be! The photos on their website and rental websites are very deceiving. As soon as you walk in the โhouseโ You immediately get a โhospital vibeโ and far from a luxury lodge. We rented the whole house for our stay, however, be aware of random people showing up at the property. We came back to the house on our second day to find an old beat up truck parked at the house. We go cautiously inside and there is a random man cooking in the kitchen. After we asked what he was doing, he let us know he cooks for the owners a special meal for dinner and will soon leave. He left after he was finished with the meal, an hour later as we awkwardly waited for him before we came inside to settle down. This was very unsettling and strange, let alone unsafe. We had little children watching tv and playing in the playroom adjacent to the kitchen, with full access from kitchen to playroom. This was very unsettling. There was no advance warning, at the minimum. Another thing, the entry door from playroom/living room does not lock from outside! Again very unsafe, given the property is located in a very secluded area. We slept with one eye open. Expecting the man to randomly show up and be able to walk in at any time. The hot-tub outside had so much chlorine, we couldnโt sit in it. Like the hotels, when they had add too much chlorine and burns your eyes. The water needs to be changed instead of adding more and more chlorine to it to clean it. Water was very murky and just full of chemicals. The beds are rock hard in the bedrooms. Hospital style mattresses that are very uncomfortable. Owners were not friendly and were quite rude. Very surprised to see the reviews say different. Be aware from a safety aspect. This is not a kid friendly place with the doors being set to not lock on the first floor to the outside 3 doors donโt lock. After three days, we were happy to leave. We wonโt be...

Our stay at Hiwassee Acres was unforgettable โ a perfect mix of comfort, nature, and hospitality.
Breakfast was one of the highlights: delicious food, top-notch service, and Joe is an absolute hoot! ๐ The attention to dietary restrictions and personal preferences was so thoughtful โ everything felt customized and made with care. Just perfect ๐ณโ๏ธ
We stayed at the lodge, and the rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. Fluffy bedding, comfy furniture, and a TV for relaxing. The kitchen was a total bonus โ fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, spices, pots, pans, utensils, plates, and even a corkboard for notes and messages. Everything you need and more ๐๏ธ๐ฝ๏ธ
Thereโs no shortage of activities to keep you engaged and happy: ๐ Horseback riding ๐ถ Kayaking on the river (we spotted otters and turtles!) ๐ Petting adorable farm animals โ including a mini donkey, a pig, a cow, goats, and two gentle Great Pyrenees giants ๐ฅ Bonfire under the stars ๐ฅพ Hiking trails and even the option for a photo shoot!
What truly sets this place apart is the incredible staff โ itโs run by a couple who genuinely care about every guest. They went above and beyond to make our stay special with personalized suggestions and warm, friendly service. Canโt say enough good things about them โ they made the whole experience feel magical ๐
The location is also perfect โ peaceful and secluded, but just 10โ15 minutes from restaurants, grocery stores, and outdoor gems like Hiwassee State Park and Gee Creek. A short drive from Chattanooga, but it feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle ๐ฒ
Weโre already dreaming of coming back. Highly recommended for families, couples, nature lovers, or anyone needing a peaceful reset.
