General Impression: Scenic sprawling campground with woods, lakes, and annual campers â oh my! Cost $73.57 for non-TT members (Value: 2 â) We feel this campground is not a great value for the money. For that price we would definitely expect upgraded facilities and upkept amenities. Campground: This is a large 290-acre campground that is very spread out with space between most of the campsites. It boasts 11 lakes that are good for fishing, but not swimming. Itâs pretty remote from town and activities and a large number of the 134 sites are annual campers that have staked their claim. Campsite # B10 Our campsite was a gravel back in site with unusable space in between sites. Plenty long enough for our RV and truck. The gravel pad was flat in the middle but had a bit of a grade in front of and back of the pad. Very level left to right. Most sites have 50 or 30, and about a dozen sites have both. Picnic table and fire rings at most sites, but no grills. They have propane refill and dump station. Campground Wifi: none, but they have wifi listed in the pool and laundry area. Campground: Not even good enough for a speed test Starlink: Streaming/Teleconference/Gaming (34.3 Mbps down/ 7.19 Mbps up) Verizon: Good for Email/Googling (3.45 Mbps down/ 0.06 Mbps up)
Noise Level: Very quiet with no road or train noise. Amenities: Several bath houses throughout the campground with showers and bathrooms. They were clean enough but dĂŠcor was outdated. Multiple dumpsters scattered throughout the park and easily located. Laundry: 4 washers and dryers. $1.75 per cycle and they do accept the CSC app as well as quarters. They have a large pool and playground. Other facilities: Basketball, cornhole, horseshoes, and tennis. The minigolf is sadly unusable. Dog friendly: While they do allow dogs, there is no off-leash area and no pickup stations. There is plenty of green area around the park to walk your dog. Camp store: No camp store. They do sell firewood, ice and there is a vending machine at the laundry area. Walmart and other grocery stores are about 15 min drive away. Camp staff interactions: Multiple camp staff interactions. They were pleasant and helpful. Additional info: There have a large amount of long-term campers that seem mostly contained to the A loop, but some in B loop as well. B loop seems much more friendly towards...
Read moreI will start by saying this campground has a lot of potential under Thousand Trails Resort but until that transformation is complete the website is completely misleading. We knew there would be some closures or delay due to COVID-19 but these problems existed long before 2020. The mini-golf is torn up and overgrown, tennis and volleyball are unplayable, basketball courts rundown and horseshoes non-existent. The playground needs to be replaced. All amenities that were advertised on the website and all were subpar. My biggest complaint is with site assignment. It is first come first serve for sites so there is no guarantee that your camper will fit in what is left. We only discovered our site had sewer after a kind neighbor pointed it out. Many sites had non working electrical boxes so our choices were limited. I expected more after paying almost $70 per night upfront when I booked in January. We have traveled all over the country and have no problem paying that type of money but then we expect more out of the campground. This place is worth $40 a night at best. The seasonal sites are mostly nice and well maintained, probably by those campers. Most of the other campers were nice. People were very kind, always smiling and waving. We were reprimanded by a seasonal camper for our parking. Our friends were yelled at for going 6 mph to pull out of the site. My only interaction with a staff member was being told they had no ice. Tip, donât advertise ice on the paperwork from check in if you donât have it. Again, so much potential here with the land, lakes and trails but this campground was not the campground I viewed online in January. I wish I could have camped there. We love this area but wonât be...
Read moreWe read several reviews concerning the Horseshoe Lake Campground in Clinton Indiana. We talked to others about it too. We did not hear very good reviews but decided to try it ourselves. We have a Georgetown GT5 34M5 about 38 ft.
When we arrived we were greeted at the little office by a very nice lady who explained everything about the campground and we were assigned a site. The site was level. It was in the back but fairly good roads led us there. Dusty but hey, we are in a campground.
We were very impressed with the sites being spacious as we drove back. Some lots backed up to the many lakes, which many annuals have reserved. But hey, if I lived close I would probably get an annual site too.
Annuals were very friendly and most helpful with things to do in the area. We stayed 3 nights and it was peaceful and relaxing. Of course we were there during the week so we canât comment about the weekend. We didnât visit the pool area but info stated an adult evening swim, which we thought was awesome, if it is honored. Sorry kids but even parents need some down time!
Bathrooms really need updated and vented! So hopefully you are self contained. There could be problems with mold and I can see why after having to make a pit stop after walking thru the park.
This park could be a gem if management could get money from corporate to do the updates. Overall, we would rate it a 6-7 but man it could be a 10 for Thousand Trails!
