My wife and I stayed here recently while researching properties for sale in the local area. There are not many choices available and we were not able to find another place that would accept our two chihuahuas so we opted to stay. The price was reasonable and though it appeared a bit run down we were road beat and ready for a rest.||||The Budget Inn is run by an exceedingly friendly man named Raj Patel. He answered several of our questions about the local area and suggested a place where the locals go to eat. As it was late and we were hungry, we took our room key and without even unpacking first headed out for supper. I will review that establishment later.||||When we arrived back at the inn we walked our dogs and let ourselves in the room. At first sight I knew we were not going to be very happy. The smell was a combination of old cigarette smoke, decaying carpets and mildew. Everywhere we turned there were patches, scratches and broken fixtures. We were in for the haul so decided to just shower up and hope for a restful sleep.||||The bathroom facilities were as dilapidated as the rest of the room and hard water stains in sink, shower and toilet were extensive. As you might surmise, there was little suds to be had no matter how hard we scrubbed.||||While I finished my shower my wife prepared the bed for sleeping. When I walked out she told me in no uncertain terms that we would not sleep on the sheets because they looked like they had been slept in and not laundered. It may just have been the hard water, but we slept just under a light blanket. Luckily it was warm that night.||||During the night my wife jostled me awake and told me to listen because she thought a mouse was on the stand next to the bed. I always carry a small flashlight with me to help me find my way around unfamiliar places at night. I clicked it on and was quite surprised to see not a mouse, but several very large cockroaches having a hoedown on the nightstand. I managed to bag one of them, but the others escaped.||||Needless to say, that was the end of our sleep. We packed our few things and the dogs, dropped our key in the night box and headed for our next destination. We do not plan on visiting...
Read moreThis place is not fit for humans. Our party of 13 reserved 5 rooms for 4 nights, initially. Some rooms had dirty sheets once we pulled back comforters. There may have been signs of mold. Chairs were filthy, carpet is worn and t.v.'s are not up-to-date. Not "up-to-date" is bad enough but "filthy" is unacceptable. For $5, any non-guests can use the small pool making it awkward for guests to use. After discovering bedbugs, some checked out (right then about 2 a.m.) after one night and the rest after two nights, receiving refunds. Several of us had bedbug bites, but our 3 year old was really bitten up. At that point, I contacted Josh @ the Health Dept to discuss how they are able to remain open...
