We were excited to stay at the KOA in Cody, Wyoming, especially after hearing about all the great amenities it offers. And indeed, the campground itself has plenty to boast about—spacious grounds, a fantastic pool, an impressive play area for kids, and ample dog-friendly spaces. If we had brought our own 5th wheel, I'm sure we'd be writing a much different review. Unfortunately, our experience in one of their so-called "deluxe" cabins left a lot to be desired.

The cabin was anything but deluxe. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. We spent a significant amount of time scrubbing every surface, going through an entire jar of Clorox wipes, and even then, it still felt grimy. Grease and food remnants clung stubbornly to the dining table, chairs, and refrigerator. The floor hadn't seen a broom or mop in who knows how long. Just when we thought it couldn't get worse, we ventured into the bathroom and, upon lifting the toilet seat, discovered unpleasant remnants from the previous guest—completely unacceptable.

As if the lack of cleanliness wasn't enough, the mattresses were another major disappointment. If you prefer a firm mattress, beware—the queen bed was like sleeping in a giant sinkhole, offering no support whatsoever. The mattress on the lower bunk was oversized for the frame, causing it to roll and lean to the right, making it uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on.

Adding insult to injury, the coffee machine was broken. My mother, an early riser, made her way to the office at 7 AM, hoping for a cup of coffee and to report the issue. Instead of offering an apology or a complimentary cup, the staff member at the counter attempted to charge her two dollars for coffee (They gave her a deal of $1) despite the fact that our cabin's machine was out of order. A gentleman did come by to fix the machine, but the damage was already done.

In summary, while the campground itself has some great features, our stay in the deluxe cabin was a major letdown. We left feeling disappointed and certainly won’t be staying in a cabin here again. We’ve stayed at other KOA cabins and they have...

Stayed here end of May 2024 through Memorial Day weekend Pull-through FHU 50 amp. Gravel pad with grass patio area and fire pit . Would stay again—Yes

The following are things that are important to us and up to you to assess if they matter to you. They are what we witnessed and measurable accounts vs using just an opinion. $85/night Stayed 14 nights Site #D3

Campground WiFi: -Good campground wifi and able to work on vpn

Cell/hotspot using booster: -AT&T (1 of 4 bars—4G) -Verizon (2 of 4 bars—4G)

Details: General: Nice campground and friendly atmosphere overall. Check-in: KOA is always super easy for office check-in. Sites: Long pull-through sites available. Campground Road: Gravel. Grounds: Clean and kept up well. Bathrooms/Showers: Nice and new facilities. Stall showers and comfortable. Laundry: Newish washers and dryers in a nice building. Amenities: Pancakes each morning att no charge which is really nice for a campground to offer. Good large store for supplies on site. Decent pool, hot tub, playground, and game room. Location: Gas, groceries and restaurants 5 min away. Nearby: Close to Buffalo Bill State Park and a litle over an hour from East entrance of Yellowstone NP. Near highway: Yes. But not directly off of the interstate so quiet at night. Near train: Not that I can recall.

Downsides: -ATVs and dirt bikes were regularly ridden throughout the campground we had some concern for kids and pets. -Locals came in on night on 5 different nights to use the pool and hot tub. Our site was in the row immediately near the pool so we saw groups of multiple vehicles come in and leave together out the...

We specially visited Cody for a few nights so we could not only experience the town, but this campground as well. Our children were super excited to experience this as we had stopped by a couple months earlier and they saw the cool things to do here. The kids weren't disappointed and are eagerly awaiting a return someday. We arrived late Friday night (after dark, of course), checked in, then drove to our premium spot. We were exhausted and set up camp completely in the dark. I couldn't help but wonder why what I was seeing in the dark wasn't what was pictured on the website, but we finished setting up anyways. Well, the next morning I walked around and soon discovered that we weren't in the premium spots at all but instead packed in the back section. I discussed with the lady at the office and she confirmed we had paid for premium accommodations. We got to pick out our spot and she gladly shuffled some reservations around and got us all set. It's painful and time-consuming to tear down camp and set up again, however, it worked out because we had to take the camper into town to get a propane regulator repair done anyways. The kids had a blast and it allowed us (the parents) to relax. The free pancakes KOA serve are great (although sometimes hard to get to before they stop serving if you're on a lounging early morning vacation). The only suggestion I have is for the campground to consider installing a noise reduction fence or a wall of trees along the highway side of the campground. It can get pretty noisy for those of us that don't have expensive, well-insulated RVs. Otherwise, this place is pretty neat in an...
