The road to the K3 ranch was out in the middle of nowhere. We arrived early afternoon at the ranch which was a little earlier than check in time. There was no place designated as the entrance and we were confused about where to park. No one was around so we could not figure out where to go. We called a telephone number we had for the ranch and a person told us that someone would come there shortly to help us. ||Ed arrived and showed us where to park and took us to our room. He also showed us a few of the rooms in the house. He mentioned that the house is never locked which did concern me. Luckily there was a lock on the door of the room we were staying in so we were able to keep that locked at all times.||The dĂ©cor in the room was cute/western but there were SO many knickknacks everywhere that there werenât adequate surfaces to put our things. Also, there was dust on almost everything. I had to take an allergy pill each night due to the dust. The floors and rugs seemed dirty as well. The trash in the gathering room outside our room was full when we arrived and was never emptied 2 days later. There was a small refrigerator in that room that we were told we could use, it had a clump of hair inside of it. ||We were told we could use the porch outside of our room which we did. The porch had an awesome view. However, the chairs are cheap plastic chairs that are very uncomfortable, and the legs kept getting stuck in the wooden floor slat spaces. ||Breakfast was something we were looking forward to since we were told it was a âCowboy Breakfastâ cooked outdoors on a grill. This was a huge disappointment. It was too windy to eat outdoors, and the food did not taste good and was not plentiful. Jerry served small portions to everyone, and seconds were not offered. None of the food was hot because it was sitting on plates with nothing keeping it warm. Eggs, sausage floating in grease and small pieces of French toast were served the first morning. Oh, and watermelon! The watermelon was sour and slimy, obviously old. Which cowboys ate watermelon?!!||The second day the breakfast was indoors again and even worse than the first day. Instead of French toast there was a bitter biscuit. It must have been made with too much baking soda. Again, the slimy watermelon and the eggs but this time with ham slices floating in grease. ||Each day the owner, Jerry, and his wife, would join us for breakfast. We were told that Jerry is close to 90 years old. It is nice that he makes the effort to come but he likes to tell stories and jokes, the same ones each day. Also, many of the people were from other countries and I am sure his humor was lost in translation.||When we took a shower there was a rubber mat on the tub floor. When I tried to remove it, mold, bugs and all types of gross stuff was under this mat. Everything in the bathroom needed a DEEP cleaning. Again, even in the bathroom there were SO many knickknacks which left little room for our personal toiletries. ||The bed was very old and bounced all over the place. Any slight movement would wake us up. The sheets, blanket and pillows were very uncomfortable. ||We were told the room had AC but the AC is a portable unit that has a hose that goes through the window. The AC machine was very old, extremely loud which disturbed our sleep. ||We enjoyed visiting with the old horse and 2 goats on the property. There is a lot of land, and the view is gorgeous. This is no longer a âworking ranchâ other than producing hay. So, no activity is going on here. ||It was only about 10 minutes into town which made it convenient for restaurants and sight-seeing. ||In summary:|Location and view great. Place very rustic, dusty and needs a big deep clean especially in the bathroom. Beware of the bed and pillows. Donât expect a hearty, hot cowboy breakfast. Check on the air conditioning situation in whichever room you reserve. Oh, and the issue with the house not being locked up might not feel safe...

Read moreK3 was the biggest positive surprise of our vacation to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We stayed at several outstanding places on this trip but Jerryâs ranch surpassed them all. There were so many topics that we could talk about that were so unique that separate K3 from the rest. This was the last stay of our trip and itâs remote location in Cody made us feel so at peace. Jerry, Betty, and Heather made you feel like they were opening up their home. Every morning at 8:00, Heather cooked a 5 course breakfast of pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, watermelon, coffee and juice. We are not big breakfast eaters but we couldnât help ourselves and we feasted, in addition to enjoying the familyâs warmth, storytelling, and Jerryâs jokes. We reserved the Hideout and it was a stand-alone cabin separate from the ranch house which gave us a little isolation and tranquility. The entire property was 33 beautiful acres with wildlife roaming free. They had a horse that we befriended and he came up to our cabin for a goodnight rub and snack. We could go on and on but we are going to keep this short and highly recommend the K3 as a must stay. Wish we could of moved in. Thank you Jerry and...
