I had problems with this rental from the moment I booked. The Host, Shelley Seale, was very quick to message me claiming my payment didn’t go though, even though I received multiple emails from Vrbo saying it was booked, paid and confirmed. So I cancelled the charge and payed with a different card. ||The day of arrival I had not received ANY information about how to access the unit. ||I had received Emails from 3 different platforms; Vrbo confirming my stay, Shelley’s personal email, and a rental agreement from her business “Stardust Retreat”, however no information regarding how to access the rental. ||After 8 hours and SIX possible channels of communication we had arrived and still had no code. I was on the verge of tears as me, my child, and partner had no way of accessing the unit. I noticed the downstairs unit had a renter in it and had to knock on their door, disturbing their stay, to see if they could possibly help me. ||To my surprise they had also experienced code issues upon arrival and were extremely discouraged to how Shelley had treated them when their code didn’t work. Luckily they had an emergency code and we’re able to help get me and my family into our unit for the night. ||At 1:00am I received an email from Shelley and ALL it said was “the code was sent to you yesterday.” ||I had 5 people helping me double check spam, trash and inbox folders and nothing regarding a code was sent from Vrbo, Shelley herself, or from “Stardust Retreat.” I’m unsure why there are so many channels to begin with and not all through the Vrbo App…||At 1:45 am I replied expressing that I STILL didn’t have the access code. The following day she sent me the code, emailed through Stardust Retreat. ||She refuses to take any form of responsibility for this discrepancy and has been extremely difficult to work with. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced such lack of business etiquette in all of my life. ||After telling my experience to several locals they confirmed how difficult she is to work with. ||It’s really quite unfortunate because the rental itself is nice but I’ll never book here again due to lack of accessibility, help, accountability or remorse from the Host. ||On top of it she is now attempting to charge me “damages” charges due to my (7lb) dog being inside for a couple hours throughout the stay (he stayed at our family’s house he VAST majority of the time), claiming there was “hair everywhere” as if a 7lb dog can shed his entire body weight in fur in a few hours. 🙄 So much for being “pet friendly.” Not to mention as an ethical human I left the rental cleaner than I found it. I would appreciate a full refund and an apology, but just a refund will do. ||Needles to say this as THE WORST rental experience of my life. I would discourage anyone staying here on these principles alone. I pray no one else has an emotionally damaging experience, especially on Easter Day, like...
Read moreStardust gave our group a special and comfortable stay. First, location is quiet, grounds are beautiful, and easy to find. The home has been immaculately staged to take you back to the 50's and 60's even down to the original (and perfectly usable) cooktop, period furniture (check out the dining room set!) wood paneling, record player with lots of music from that era to choose from, framed album covers on the walls and original magazines on the coffee table. My first thought was "my parents would LOVE staying here". It would take them back to their courtship for sure!||I stayed in the Hemingway room (each room has a different theme), complete with his books, photos and even an old manual typewriter. The rooms were clean and spacious and large bathrooms with period (original???!) colored tile and modern conveniences. Very comfortable bed.||I didn't expect there to be so much good food in Coleman! I'm from Chicago and NYC, living in Portland OR now, so I know good food, and gotta say the pizza we had in town rivaled any I've ever had, but there were more gourmet places, and a retro 1950's soda fountain in town as well. There are some very nice shops and looks like the cute little town is expanding with more as there were building project going on when we were there.||I had never heard of Coleman before, and went at the recommendation of a friend who lives in Texas, and it more than exceeded my expectations, as did Stardust Retreat. I highly recommend checking it out. The owner is very detail oriented and instructions on how to reach, get in, and use everything (including the original working stovetop) were easy to comprehend. ||And there's lots of dishes and barware so bring your martini makings, put on an old LP and sit back and enjoy this...
Read moreBooking was easy and check in check out was flawless. I really wanted to like this place more, but I felt that the pictures and description on the website (for this particular room) did not match the room that I had. The driveway leading up to the parking was in really rough shape, and the exterior light did not stay on very long… It’s very dark in this neighborhood. The first thing that I noticed when I opened the door was an off smell of some sort, possibly old trash that had not been taken out? I was extremely tired after a long day of traveling, so I did my best to ignore that. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean, so that was good. I tried to get the streaming to work on the small TV in the corner, but it kept freezing, so I gave up on that. The daybed in front of the small TV was not comfortable at all and seemed very rickety. The temperature of the room was fine, but the remote control on the wall, to actually control the air conditioner, did not work. In general, the furniture used for this room/suite was very random and not something from the 50s or 60s, as the website would lead you to believe. The bathroom, albeit seemingly clean, actually had thin, office-like carpet on the floor, which was a little odd imo. I was probably in this room for a total of seven or eight hours, as I left early in the morning. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place and I think the concept is a great idea, it’s just the execution with this particular room was not so good. I probably would not stay here again as it was more expensive than a standard hotel...
