The marketing for this event is done very well. It makes you think you are going to a really nice event. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
I attended the Extreme Easter Egg Hunt, and it was a RIP OFF. If I could give 0 stars, I would. 80% of the adults were extremely disappointed in an event that all of us looked forward to. You can see the disappointment on everyone's faces.
The entire event was a free for all. There weren't any workers with shirts on to distinguish if they worked at the farm or visiting. You are let off at the entrance of the main farm, but no one telling you what to do or where to go. A group of us were standing around clueless. There are no signs anywhere to tell you where to go, nothing that indicates you are even at the farm to attend an Easter egg hunt. Eventually, we saw a large group of insicuals approaching us, and then everyone bunched together to walk thru a stream and into I presume the 10 acres of land. There were little kids everywhere, babies, strollers, adults, elderly all trying to squeeze through this small walking path. Might I add it is extremely dangerous to cross through a stream with rocks. There was a bridge that needed major work. If all of us crossed that bridge, it probably would've fallen.
No one knows what to look for, where the cut off of the 10acres is or anything. We assumed we were looking for Easter eggs as the website indicated, but come to find out, we had to find "tokens" for cash. Why would you have 10 acres of land with small tokens for people to find. As a result, this caused everyone to be frustrated and angry. The majority of people left with Easter eggs full of candy and 1 token if that. Some individuals left with nothing.
There was 1 taco food truck, a coffee truck, an acai bowl truck, and a doughts and cinnamon roll truck. Needless to say, this was misleading as well.
When we finally approached the owners to share our frustration, he had 0 compassion or empathy. His response was, "Well, we had a lot of stuff out there." At this point, everyone demanded a refund. He mentioned having another hunt next Saturday, but no one was interested. Everyone wanted their money back.
Needless to say, this will be the first and last event that I attend...
Read moreI wish we could have given a better rating but the staff kept working to ensure we wouldn’t. We got married this week and in lieu of a honeymoon, we opted to do some lamb cuddling with our kids. Mary’s Land Farm is far away from us, but we were willing to make the long drive despite the rainy cold weather. We got there and found it very hard to find where to go. Aside from our original confirmation email when we paid our $100, we had no instructions. Finally we went to the store and asked. Turns out the person who runs lamb cuddling was sick and we were supposed to be notified (we weren’t). We are good at pivoting and redirecting disappointment for our kids, and tried to figure out what we could do on the farm so that it wasn’t a wasted trip. The cashier tried her best to be helpful (we understand mess-ups happen) and gave us some goat feed and said we were welcome to pet and feed any of the animals we saw roaming and that if we ran into the staff person who managed the animals, she would be happy to give us a tour. We found some goats and even the lambs, and followed the lambs around the farm. We eventually came upon the staff person, who didn’t seem at all happy we were there and irritatedly fussed at us for following the lambs. I would understand if our kids were wild, loud, or inappropriate with the animals, but our kids volunteer at a horse rescue and know how to act around farm animals. The staff person had been walking with another family (presumably who also didn’t get notified that lamb cuddling was cancelled) and she continued to engage with them and ignored us unless she found something to fuss about. We were not made to feel welcome on the property as we explored. My partner and I had considered staying at the inn on the property before this experience but now we’ve decided that we will find another place to stay in the future. Overall a very...
Read more18 of my family members visited the farm together in late September for the farm’s fall fest and frankly- it was a fabulous family experience.
Even the light rain did not dampen our experience on this neat working farm.
Our grandkids (ages 2,6,7,7, 10, & 12), adult children, spouses, and their significants enjoyed themselves immensely.
First- the staff was helpful, friendly, anccomodating, and knowledgeable. Our littles loved being able to hold the rabbits and feeding the goats.
The animals were cool- roaming sheep, goats, piglets, miniature pony, horses, ducks, quail, bunnies, calves to cuddle- and more.
The grounds were pristine. Beautiful and pastoral. We all enjoyed the hayride and the train ride.
Our grands got a big kick out of leading us through the corn maze. The little greatly enjoyed the corn pit. And all of us took a ride or two (or three!) down the big slide.
We packed a big picnic lunch- yet found a wide variety of items to buy at the Farm Store. ( best eggs and the BEST ice cream sandwiches EVER).
Lots of food trucks ( we bought coffee & dessert). Music. What’s not to absolutely love?
We liked the experience so much that I returned during the week with a few friends and their toddler grandkids.the toddlers enjoyed the wooden tractors, little riding tractors, and wooden maze and playground.
Just an all round fun time- both times! I will definitely continue to visit this farm. I’ve lived in HoCo for 41 years annd just recently discovered Mary’s. And am so excited to find this gem of a place.
Hats off to the staff at Mary’s Land farm. You folks do a wonderful job.
Update: baby piglets and baby goats in November...
