The Blue Heron Inn was a pleasant surprise. My husband and I were looking for a place to stay to break up a drive to Glacier National Park. He had done a little searching before we left and suggested this place as we were approaching Idaho Falls. We quickly called, and they only had two rooms available with such short notice. Luckily, one of them was what I assume is their best room, The Blue Heron Suite. It was stunning. When we arrived after 10:00 we were welcomed with a personal note containing instructions about our stay. The main lodge room area was gorgeous and the kitchen and dining room equally magnificent. When we walked into our room, I was blown away. It was luxurious. The windows had been left open to let in the summer night breeze, and the bed was so comfy. There was a large bath with a shower and a two person tub. We enjoyed bathrobes and the best towels I've found at any accommodation I've been in. We had a nice deck to look over the Snake River. I really can't say enough about how comfortable the bed was and how beautiful and spacious the room was. We were sad we only had one night at this place, and definitely plan to return on a weekend getaway. This is one of the best places I've stayed. The breakfast was wonderful, Eggs Benedict. Sandy even sent two over to the table for my husband, who is a big guy. Sandy and Dennis were very pleasant. The grounds were immaculate. They have a movie room in the basement and a little area upstairs to play games and read books, sadly we didn't have time for enjoying either of those things. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We absolutely loved this place, and are so glad we...
Read moreWe only chose this B&B because we had an early flight our of Idaho Falls the next morning and wanted something close to the airport but outside of IF...I'm so glad we did! The lodge is just beautiful. The great room overlooking the river had cathedral ceilings and matching windows. It's a beautiful room with a fireplace, sumptuous seating and beautifully furnished, as is every part of this lodge. Our large bedroom had a veranda overlooking the river and was also beautifully decorated and had a walk-in closet! The breakfast room is also a lovely, light, airy room with coffee, tea, popcorn etc. to help yourself during the day or evening. Breakfast is a treat there. Dennis made us a delicious and beautifully presented meal. There is another delightful area upstairs with a library space, a seating area and a games area. All very inviting and tastefully decorated. I would come here just for a weekend to sit and watch the river, relax and unwind...it's that lovely! We didn't meet Sandra as we got in late and left early but she was very nice on the phone. The lodge is very close to a photo worthy old iron railway bridge and we saw fisherman catching trout beneath the bridge. In the morning we saw a moose come down to the river to drink and we saw a bald eagle waiting on a log by the river to catch fish!||||The lodge is only 20 minutes from Idaho Falls on the freeway.||||I would highly recommend this B&B for a relaxing stay with a beautiful view, an elegant and thoughtfully decorated lodge and rooms and close proximity to Idaho Falls or the I15 north to Yellowstone...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about this inn! We stayed for 5 nights and were happy with every aspect of our stay. Breakfasts were outstanding and the portions were ample. Each of the five days we woke to delightful smells coming from the kitchen and found ourselves chatting with others also enjoying time at the inn. Sandy and Dennis, the inn keepers, shared a wealth of information regarding day trips and excursions. We easily visited Big Spring and drove up to Yellowstone for some sightseeing in one day. (Sandy packed us up some bread to feed the fishes) Our room was simply perfect- clean, comfortable and well appointed. The wifi was fast and never posed any problems. ( I mention this because it is not always the case in large chain hotels). The grounds are stunning with lush landscaping that called me outdoors to read each morning. Beautiful views from our balcony of the snake river found us sitting outside on our private balcony at night. ( We stayed in the Mallard room so our room did not have balcony chairs but we brought in our camp chairs and used those.) The inn has large public areas too. A gathering room off the kitchen with big comfy seating and a piano that my husband enjoyed playing as well as a library outside our room were put to good use by us! There is also a media room in the basement with a large collection of movies. We will be going back...again and again. ...
