C5 Campsite isn't riverfront and wasn't advertised as riverfront but some other sites were marketed this way so just so you know this site is in the woods but you can see and hear 3-4 sites easily. The river is across the street, which is an around five minute walk. Cellular service is 100% no issues since I was on a Zoom for 60 min w/o any disturbance full connection using Verizon as the provider.
Coffee is $2 a cup, which is kcup for coffee. This is available in a tent across the road from the office. Office is almost immediately there as you enter the campground driveway.
Wood is I believe $12.50/wheelbarrow full & is readily available for you anytime you like.
Campsite is very clean so there is little to no liter and the grounds are well manicured.
Vince, Pam and Jim are friendly. They invited me and another camp guest to dinner, which I see now is a frequent occurrence for guests to be invited to. Food served was tasty.
Drive in from the main road is paved. Campground road is very large sized gravel. Campground road drive to campsite is around a minute drive so not a long drive at all.
A bat nearly flew into my head, which was pretty cool. Possums, raccoons, deer and snakes are in the area. I had no issues with any animals.
Some trails are on the property that take you up the mountain, which is an enjoyable steep climb to feel the burn.
No electricity

Read moreThis place sucks. There's no drinkable water anywhere on this property (at least I couldn't find it, and I looked everywhere), and its not indicated on any map. Every water tap has a "do not drink" sign on it. Site B3 isn't "relatively flat" as stated on the table. There's isn't a level spot on it, and it's WAY steep!! My car got stuck even though I have new tires, and it took an hour to get out (and that was only because a good citizen heard us struggling, and pulled me out). The gravel isn't packed down, so my tires immediately sunk in, and there are a few big rocks in the way. It would have been hopeless to get myself out. I pulled in at night, so I couldn't see that I was getting myself stuck. Informational note: This isn't their fault, but the road there is VERY dangerous. Where this asphalt ends is where the ditch begins, and it's not wide enough for 2 cars to pass each other. On on side, it's 1-2 ft. into the ditch. On the other side, it's sometimes over 70 ft. over a cliff! There is NO room to pass, even in a regular car. If you meet someone coming the opposite way on the road, one of you would have to back up quite a ways. That would suck and be VERY dangerous, especially if you're pulling a camper!! The river is neat, but overall, the place is very uncomfortable, and I didn't like getting...
Read moreI camp about twice a month for 3-5 days at a stretch. In the past 3 years I’ve been to at least 20 campgrounds.
This is one of my top 3. I was at campsite C5 which is spacious and close to the portapots. The camp hosts have been incredible, as well as fellow campers. The vibe here is one of quiet relaxation. The central common fire pit is a great place to chat with others, I was even invited to have some real gumbo last night.
I’m mobility impaired and the guys have been great about bringing my wood to my site to help me out. No issues with me using my mobility scooter to get around, although the roads are large rocks in some areas so ymmv if you have something like that. Mine is a beast.
The beach is beautiful with lots of things available for use including tubes. I was able to get down to the beach area although it is a bit of a steep hill. No problem for most, but something to keep in mind if mobility is an issue.
Super quiet at night, although if you get a spot near the common area there is a light left on at the portapots. It wasn’t bright enough to disturb me though.
Make the trip here, it’s amazing if you’re looking for primitive style camping that’s more accessible then...
