We love the Maine Roadhouse! This was our second year staying there and we stayed for 5 nights this time and loved every moment of it. The owners (Jenn and Jenn) are amazing and think of everything. The place is so clean and super cozy. It is an amazing family place and great for kids. There's a ping-pong table, free hot chocolate station with all the fixings, WiFi, 2 living room areas with Netflix, a cozy fireplace/woodstove, free continental breakfast with bagels and homemade muffins, fruit and free coffee. We ski at Saddleback which is 25 min away and Sugarloaf is also about 20 min away. We get a private room with a shared bedroom. The rooms are so clean and cozy with new bedding and new pillows and the shared bathrooms are super clean as well with nice fluffy towels. There is a kitchen for guests to use with very clean fridges and stoves. There are even free boot dryers to use after skiing. We were also able to do a laundry (Thanks, Jenn). The place is amazing, but the best part are the owners, Jenn and Jenn, who made the stay super special for our family. I only wish it were closer to my house so we could go...
Read moreWonderful hostel! One of my favorite on the Appalachian trail. It was a very chill low-key vibe, not really a party hostel. Enormous with lots of tables, chairs and couches to hang out in. Brand new ping pong table, lots of outdoor space as well as a barbecue.
At the time I thought that the shuttles were overpriced, but I'm coming to learn as a southbound hiker that every subtle service charges about the same. It is very convenient to be picked up from the trailhead or driven to town to pick up groceries and they have multiple shuttles leaving throughout the day.
The dorm space and bunks were really really nice! Kind of like capsules with a privacy curtain charging in a light, very cozy.
Also had a full resupply with really good prices on all kinds of backpacking food. They also had unique rare finds like walking, tamales and powdered hummus, hard to find at your average supermarket.
I hope this hostel thrives and prospers, love from the...
Read moreI heard about this place from fellow hikers and it totally lives up to the recommendations. Jen, Jen & Dakota are so hospitable! $35/night for a bunk with laundry and pickup/drop-off at the trail included. Its airy, clean and has everything hikers need. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, piano, pingpong, Netflix, darts, games, clothing lines for wet tents, and foot bathes. Jen cooks delicious, filling breakfast and dinner for donations. They are also happy to drive you into town for resupply or...
