The Sylvan Valley Lodge is nestled right off of Duncan Bridge Road in Sautee Nacoochee, GA (White County)(North Georgia). As soon as you drive up the drive you are transported to your Happy Place. The lodge looks like something from the Germany countryside. It is perfectly located so everywhere you look there are gorgeous nature and mountain views. The front door is grand and welcomes you into the entry located right next to the tasting room and dining room for Breakfast. This is were you get to meet the innkeepers Ginevra and John. They greet you with a warm welcome and give you your keys to your large and comfortable room. All of the rooms are located on the second floor. Each room has its own bathroom, some with large jacuzzi tubs. I loved our shower- the water pressure was excellent. The room we stayed in had a large shared balcony which was nice for morning coffee (all rooms have a keurig coffee maker). On the second floor also has a large, but cozy living room. There were books and games to enjoy. Plus, there was a large balcony you can sit out on and enjoy the mountain views. I loved the large king bed in our room- it was really comfortable. We also had a nice couch that I enjoyed cozying up on to watch tv. I really appreciated that there was a small refrigerator with soft drinks in our room. Breakfast at Sylvan Valley is really good. They provide you with a few choices to choose from. We were there multiple mornings so we enjoyed a few of them. Ginevra and John are eager to make your breakfast the perfect start to your day. Sylvan Valley have their own wine, so make sure to schedule a wine tasting. We are newbies to wine, so John and Ginevra really took time to describe the different wines we tasted, plus instruction us on how to get the best experience out of each wine. I also need to tell you that the food they provide with the wine tasting is excellent. On the property there is a lovely spot for an enchanting outdoor wedding. They also have a very nice bridal suite and a large covered spot for events. It really was a very beautiful place for a wedding or special event. There are also great photo spots all around the property. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway or a romantic getaway- Sylvan Valley Lodge is a great spot. It would be a perfect place for a small wedding or family reunion. It is a great location- close to Helen and Cleveland, GA, plus close to over 12 wineries. After our visit, I was excited to plan our next stay. You...
Read moreOur Stay, 5 January 2024, was less comfortable than expected for the price of "The Suite'. The impressive website description makes it sound so much better than what it really was.
Firstly... it was clean and gives a B&B vibe with very nice decor and most comforts of home... like Microwave, Refrigerator, Coffeemaker and even Free snacks and Quick Breakfast options. Also there is WiFi and Steaming TV's for both the downstairs and the upstairs areas.
However, what is not explained in the description is that this Suite, which is supposed to accommodate up to 5 people, only has (1) one small bathroom on the lower level that must be shared amongst everyone. So the persons staying in the "Master Bedroom", that is located upstairs, must to go downstairs just to access the bathroom. Which means they will most likely wake up everyone else just to use the restroom and have they can have NO Privacy!
Additionally, the Master Bedroom Mattress is Extra Extra Firm which makes it Very Hard for the average or aging persons to sleep comfortably. We had wished it was way softer for a more comfortable and relaxing visit, especially for the price of stay. My wife even ended up sleeping on the sectional foam couch... which was only big enough for one (1) petite person and I had to sleep alone. Which ruined our romantic vacation.
Until a bathroom is added to the upstairs Master Area I cannot in good conscious recommend this "Suite" to anyone. It's Very Disappointing that we could not have a private area of our own!!! Let's not forget a softer...
Read moreWe stayed here for a night this weekend. I specifically sought out a cabin instead of a hotel because my husband loves nature. The cabin was easy to find, cute, and private. There was a private porch with chairs, bathroom, kitchenette, living room area, and a bedroom in the cabin we stayed in. You also get your own parking space for one car and wifi, which was so great because we had NO cell reception. We only had two issues - along the driveway where we parked were a ton of pistachio shells on the ground. It was obviously left there from a previous guest but it was gross and all over the ground as soon as I got out of the car. Another issue was that we were sound asleep after an event and at 5:30 AM the fire alarm started blaring!!! We woke up with so much adrenaline and were panicked looking for smoke or fire - no appliances were on (or used), the ceiling fan was going, there was no reason for it to be blaring. After a few minutes, we started looking for the emergency after hours number and the smoke alarm stopped. I couldn't sleep after that. We told the staff over the phone when we checked out and all they said was that they would tell maintenance. There was no other efforts to make the situation right, which was disappointing. We won't be staying at this location again, which is too bad because we would have if we received more compassion from the staff after sharing...
