Willow Bay Campground is a BEAUTIFUL Campground. The part that ruins it for me (Local Avid Outdoorsman) is, the campground books reservations with Credit Card holders, giving others almost no chance to ever get site in the Campground. They are constantly hiring new, young attendants that aren't very knowledgeable of the campground, or it's policies. The ONLY way I can camp there is if I go in the off season, such as Early Spring, or Late Fall. I have a small Teardrop Camper that I built myself,..it's what I do, but I rarely can ever get a site. The Campground is Very clean with clean restrooms. It is a Photographer's paradise. There is Fishing, boating, trails and wildlife,..mostly Black Bear. I try to camp there before, or after the summer crowds. In the Summer, the campground is always full, and not as quiet either. I love Willow Bay Campground, it's just the large parties of Campers with their barking dogs that ruin the experience for me, and I;m a very friendly, respectful Camper. I now camp elsewhere, which will remain a secret for these reasons.I will still enjoy camping there,..I'll just go when everyone else is waiting...
Read moreThis isn't the best campground in the area. I was here for tent camping, and the sites were pretty awful, all rocks and roots with very few grassy spots to put up a tent (and those spots were quite small). And all of the sites are extremely close together so that you can clearly see the people in the site next to you (there are trees everywhere, so there should be better coverage). And there is no water source unless you walk about 1/4 mile from the tent sites to a spigot. The camp hosts didn't introduce themselves (if there were any) so when the people in adjoining sites got very loud (which happened for various reasons from different sites every night), we didn't know who to turn to for help when things went on for several hours. The parking is fairly close to the sites though, which is good. There are far more spaces for RVs to park and camp at, and the showers are pretty nice, so if you're RV camping then this might be a good place for you. Again, the sites are very close to each other, so be prepared to get to know your neighbors. For tent camping, go...
Read moreWillowbay Campground offers 3 different camp loops 2 of which have convenient pull-in campsites as well as a strip of sites you can park in lot then hike-in to, these sites have access to vaulted toilets whereas drive-in sites have plumbed restrooms w/showers. Cabins are cozy, clean, and well maintained! They are electric, heated, with screened windows, blinds, and porch bug-light. Hike-in Tent sites all have beautiful views right on the water. Some are rocky soil and/or rooty so bring some extra metal tent stakes. Don't want to camp? Go for the day, buy a day pass and set up on one of the picnic sites right along the water (look exactly like tent sites but are Only for day use.) Boat access, canoe, kayak, swim, creek-walk or snorkel like we did though this trip the water visibility was very low but still fun. We saw an Eagle, toads, deer, Great-horned owl, hummingbirds, raccoons, and the resident Corvids 😉 they like to wake everyone each morning, lol. Have been coming to this campground for the last 10+years and highly...
