This was our first experience at this camping and RV destination. Initially, I reserved a campsite; however, after assessing the weather forecast, I opted to change our booking to a cabin. The reservation staff handled this modification without issue. Be sure to fully understand the cancelation policy. Numerous reviews about the nightmare. Upon arrival, there was a slight misunderstanding, but it was quickly resolved. The location is picturesque, featuring tall trees, a serene pond, and a running creek, along with amenities not typically found at other campgrounds, such as a swimming pool, laundry facilities, showers, and a playground for children. The creek was the highlight of our trip. However, let's not overlook the reality we faced: with the hefty price tag for this slice of paradise, a few upgrades wouldn't go amiss. Our cabin's air conditioner was so loud it sounded like a jet engine preparing for takeoff made family conversations feel like a yelling match. Small cabin had a flushable toilet, a definite plus. There are some spider webs in the cabin. I don't mind them, but they might freak someone else out! The cabin bed/mat's could use an upgrade. We just brought our air mats. They worked fine. The loft bed was comfortable according to my teen. So, the only WiFi was by the clubhouse, which I was totally fine with. Every now and then, I'd get a text coming through while inside the cabin. Very spotty. We brought our pups along and made sure they were on their best behavior since the rules said no warnings for noisy dogs--if they barked too much, guests would be asked to leave. Oddly alot of dogs in the park barked, which is ok in my book. There's also a cute little store on-site for all the essentials and some snacks! Great location, just about 30min to nearby Sedona, Cottonwood and šŸ· wineries. In summary, a beautiful escapade with a few quirks, just enough to keep us entertained and on our toes! I've read multiple reviews of the staff. We're fortunate not to have a bad experience.

We needed some R&R so we stayed here for a week. It's a large site spread out along a section of Oak Creek. There are cabins close to the office / shop and also lots of RV pitches. There is a pool & kids playground. We were given a nice, large reasonably level pitch with EHU close to but not next to the river. It's quite a way from the office. There are Portakabin restrooms which have seen better days, they need upgrading. They're is a dish washing sink which is really useful. On the way back out there are 3 shower / toilet cubicles which are newer with another dishwashing sink. These are by where the staff live in their vans. The main downside with this site is the lack of internet. There is wifi by the (closed) clubhouse, so OK if your pitch is close but tough luck if it isn't. A couple of signal boosters around the site would make all the difference. The creek is the big draw - especially for kids, including big kids. Our stay was marred by screaming toddlers on the adjacent pitch for 3 days and long nights! Why parents take badly behaved toddlers camping is beyond me. It was bliss when they finally left. The whole family was miserable as were all around. We sold all our camping stuff when our kids were that age, it's just no fun. Stay in a house or a hotel - with thicker walls!! Noisy neighbours notwithstanding we had a sometimes peaceful, (mostly) relaxing stay. There are a few skunks around that get fed up by the clubhouse. It's interesting trying to work on your computer with 3 skunks fighting over one bowl of food. There are also a lot of cats. It is pitch black at night so torches needed for the long walks to the clubhouse and back. At $59 + tax per night for just EHU it's a bit pricy IMO. On our last day we spoke with a woman who said she used to take her kids there 15years ago & that the place hasn't changed. Maybe it's about time it did & was updated. @grandrovervoyager

We read the campsites were close together, but they were REALLY close together. It seems the surrounding campers did have big families with multiple tents, and we had several practically on top of ours. Our first night was quiet, but we could hear the campers in the tent next to us chatting well into the night. They were talking at a normal volume, but they were so close we could hear their entire conversation. The next night we had another big family move in to the north (which was surprising because we were already pretty surrounded). The campground has quiet hours from 9PM-9AM, but this family was blasting a movie until about 11PM. They were all up at 5AM starting with a blaring car alarm followed by shrieking and over the top noise. So many reviews talk about the strict rules, but they did not seem like they were being enforced while we were there. Also, it would be helpful if they included lights in the noise rules. The campsite behind us had two industrial work lights on until about 11PM each night, and it was like having high beams shining in the tent. We ended up leaving a day early. The campsite itself was ok. It was hot, which we knew going in, but the insane amount of flies made hanging around our site during the day unbearable. The kids had fun in the pool and creek. The bathrooms were clean and showers were nice. Each site (even tent sites) have electrical hookups. Probably better to go back when cooler, but not knowing who will be camping right on top of us will probably present us from trying that. Also, I know it is camping, and it is outdoors, but the fly situation was crazy.

We went to visit some friends who were camping at Lo Lo Mai. We thought we would have dinner with them, let our kids play together and then leave and put our kids to bed at our place. But while we were just finishing dinner, at our friend's camp site, a very rude employee walks up to us and tells us that we are trespassing and he will have to call the cops or we will need to pay the day use fee. But, "Day Use" hours were over at 6pm, so we might just have to pay for the overnight fee. And, even if we left right then we would still have to pay the "Day Use" fee. Come to find out that the "Day Use" fee was $15 per adult and $5 per child plus taxes and of course an additional charge if you use a credit card. Now, I’m not opposed to paying a day use fee, but we paid over $45 for us to have dinner with our friends, at their camp site, and be there for 2.5 hours and not use any of their facilities. This is an absolutely absurd way to run a campground! They have certainly lost any chance that we would ever camp there. In addition, that employees’ threats and the $45 for ā€œDay Useā€ has earned them a terrible review on every site I can find and terrible reviews from our friends as well.

  • Stay away from this poorly managed and staffed camp ground. Don't expect kindness, understanding or quality service.

In response to the Owner Reply –

Your employee did, in fact, threaten to call the cops and trespass us if I didn't come and pay right then – so…. there’s that – you may want to have a talk with him.

I have camped nearly all my life at both federal, state, city and private lands. I have not encountered any that don’t have signs posted for day use fees or have an employee stationed at the entrance and signage noting there are day-use fees. While there may be a sign that says all vehicles must stop, there is no sign indicating ā€œNo Visitors,ā€ or ā€œAll Visitors Must Pay,ā€ or ā€œClosed to Publicā€ or ā€œDay Use Fees Apply,ā€ no signage posted for day use rates and no gate or employee at the entrance to the private camp. While I did see your sign, it was not clear that it applied to me, as I was not there to camp or use any of the Lo Lo Mai facilities. - You may want to invest in clear and specific signage.

My Family and I were not sneaking in! We didn’t hop the fence, open a locked gate, or come under the cover of darkness. We didn’t come to see the camp or use any of it’s facilities, we came to eat with our friends, which we could have easily done elsewhere. Had we known, about the threat we were to receive and the exorbitant cost of the ā€œDay use feeā€ we would have gone elsewhere.

As I said, in my original review, I have no problem paying day use fees. I am an honest person which is why, when I found out, even after I had been threatened, that there was a day use fee, I paid it. What I do have a problem with is people threatening me and my family and what I think, is an outrageous cost for a day use. (I get it – It’s private property and you can charge what you want – you just can’t expect me to like it or think it’s reasonable). After being threatened, when the employee found out that we were only there to eat with our friends, there was no consideration, no understanding, no working with us. Your employee, the one that threatened us, repeatedly stated to me and to the two other employees he spoke with that we "had to be charged." This is poor customer service. But, you run your business the way you want. You and your camp had an opportunity to gain a lifelong customer, get positive reviews and positive word of mouth, possibly earning you more customers. Instead, we were threatened and treated poorly, earning you the loss of not just us as customers but our friends as well. In addition, now hundreds, maybe thousands will read this review planting a seed of doubt as to whether they want to risk the poor...

AVOID THIS PLACE. We were starting our trip from Tucson, AZ to Yellowstone and thought we would stop at what sounded like a nice camping location outside of the now crowded Sedona area. We couldn't leave until later in the day on a Friday and didn't arrive at Lo Lo Mai until around 1130pm, exhausted, ready to park our van, make a quick meal, and pass out. On arriving we realized that this is a VERY developed campground, crowded to the very gills. It is not at all what we were looking for or expecting but we decided to pull over and try to figure things out. We drove around and found there were a few empty spots left, parked the van, and walked over to the main office. We actually really had to use the restroom and asked the lady at the office where a restroom was located. She asked which spot we were at and we told her the number of the spot we parked at and our situation. She immediately said we cannot use the restroom if we are not paying customers and that it would cost $43 if we wanted to use the restroom or camp for the night. We asked if she could offer a lower rate as we were simply parking for the night and leaving early the next morning and it was already midnight. She yelled at us and said we had to leave immediately if we do not pay her the full $43. We said we would gladly leave and walked back to our van. In the van we pulled out our Arizona map and road atlas as we had no phone service to try and figure out another camping spot. Just after we began looking at the map a big SUV pulls up with its headlights on bright shining right at our windows and sure enough the lady comes up and begins banging on all our windows and sides of our van. I step out and ask what on Earth she's doing and she begins screaming that we have to leave immediately and that she's going to call the sheriff. I try to explain to her that we are looking for a place to go and she just continues screaming. We tell her we will leave. She waits with her brights on us while we pack our maps up and then follows us all the way out of the facilities.

She was one of the rudest people I've met in my entire life, and I would recommend avoiding this place based on that alone.

The campground looks like it's in a decent area, but camping spots (parking spots) are packed like sardines and the campground was full of huge RVs. I would expect no privacy and tons of noise--there were RVs, trucks, cars, ATVs, motorcycles, and generators everywhere. They packed as many parking spaces as possible into a tiny area and called it a campground. I also think $43 a night is outrageous. I've camped in every western state and only seen campground prices approach that in California.

We ended up driving a couple minutes down the road and stayed the night at a quiet, beautiful nature reserve with no other souls in sight--absolutely free.

There are also beautiful campgrounds in Oak Creek Canyon such as Manzanita campground. They are less than half the price, much more spacious, immeasurably more beautiful, and camp hosts have always been kind, even the...

The amenities are nice our kids liked the playground, and the pool was nice to have when it was hot in the afternoon. The pool was absolutely filthy but wasn’t our biggest concern. Staff was friendly to us but didn’t really seem to want to take steps to check on their guests like I see at other campgrounds. The location is decent being close to wineries nearby and Sedona for hiking and such. Other than that it was the single worst camping experience of my life As a seasoned camper… the site they had us at was infested with BITING horseflies… I’m talking like in the hundreds. We kept everything in our cars didn’t leave things out and tried to keep things as clean as we could but they still came in hoards. They were biting our kids and swarming us to a point we went in to ask if we could move up a bit to another campsite to just eat at least, which helped a little but was still pretty aggressive. And look I get it there are bugs in the great outdoors I’ve never had a problem with that but this was not ok cause they seemed aware of it and didn’t take steps to accommodate other groups they wanted to place in those sites. we asked around other sites turns out just the sites on the side we were on aka sites on the water by the j5 side are INFESTED but all the ones on the upper portion of the campgrounds don’t have that problem I assume it’s mostly due to the creek having water that’s running more over there versus being less stagnant. My problem is they are putting people in sites they are very aware of a problem. We overheard staff talking about swarms even. If the flies get like this during specific parts of the season they should warn their guests and make other arrangements. My kids and I are covered in huge painful welts that are bursting caused by the biting flies. The site we had also had a million ant holes but we just avoided those. For the price they expect you to pay for this campground I’d have thought they would take guest concerns on his more seriously. If u have kids just choose a different campsite the amenities are not worth it. We had an option to escape in the listed clubhouse that would have been nice too but it still says ā€œclosedā€ stating cause of covid on it… had I not been responsible for organizing my larger group to be there I would have left on day one… we probably spent another $60 just on fly traps from their general store (which they charge $7.99 each) Sedona and northern Arizona has a bunch of great campsites this is not one of them. Avoid...
