I really hate giving a bad review of this place, but I feel it's necessary. During my visit, I felt the ranch wasn't how they describe themselves on their website. The amenities and ambiance were really lacking. The website pictures make you think you're visiting a resort-style ranch, but it was really just a place to sleep. For starters, it's somewhat confusing where the front desk is when you first get there. The signage isn't very good and you have to walk through a musty fitness center to get to the front desk, which is a strange way to make a first impression. And the room we stayed in was not as described either. I can't speak for all the rooms, but we stayed in one of the "King Cabins". The room was quaint, but it needs a lot of improvement in the furnishings, linens and bathroom department. The website says, "... it looks just like an 1880's old town on the outside, and a 5 star hotel room on the inside!" To say that this room is a 5 star hotel on the inside is REALLY pushing the envelope. Also, when you book your reservation online, they mention a restaurant and swimming pool among a number of other amenities. My husband and I visited for one night in early November, so I wasn't expecting to go swimming, but I thought it would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine at one of the patio tables surrounding the pool (the pool and tables are pictured on the website). The pool and pool area were closed and completely fenced off from the rest of the ranch. (The pool is actually part of the ranch owners home. I will give them the benefit of the doubt by saying that the pool area is probably open during the summer months.) So, my husband and I thought we would instead go the the restaurant and enjoy a glass of wine at the bar... with no luck. There is no actual restaurant on this property. Instead, there is a kitchen which prepares food for buffet style settings. There was absolutely nowhere on the property to get drinks, snacks or any type of food, except for one coca-cola vending machine. There are two firepits on the property; given that it was November, I thought at least one of the firepits would be going for guests to sit around, but that didn't happen. This place was really lacking in the extra details that could make it really special. The Beaumont Ranch is somewhat remote, so if my husband and I were the only people staying at the hotel that night, I could understand the ranch being a little "quiet", but that wasn't the case; there were definitely other people staying at the hotel that night because of an event on the property that attracted over 2000 people. The Beaumont Ranch did not host the event that I'm speaking of, but they gave the event permission to use one of their large fields and even raised room rates for that weekend knowing that some people who attended the event would stay at the hotel that evening instead of driving back to Dallas. I have no problem that they raised their rates for the event, but it would have been nice to have some amenities available for the guests. With all that being said, I get the impression from other reviews that Beaumont Ranch probably pulls out all the stops as long as you've rented out the whole ranch for a wedding or a corporate retreat. Otherwise, they don't seem to care about their guests. I gave Beaumont Ranch two stars for the following three reasons: the actual land that the ranch is on is really pretty, and there is a lot of room to walk around; the room rate included a warm breakfast buffet, which is a nice thought, but the food was just okay; and lastly, they are a pet-friendly hotel, so we were able to bring our 20-lb dog for a reasonable...
Read moreThis was one of the most baffling places we've ever stayed; and we travel a great deal. We liked it, but....l'm just gonna list the pros and cons and people can decide for themselves.||Pros:|- Room was beautiful, spacious, fairly clean, with updated bathrooms.|- Beautiful, well-maintained decor.|- Fantastic tub.|- Nice, rain shower head.|- Nice balcony with beautiful view.|- Fun, little old west town set up.|- Plenty of room to walk around outside.|- Peaceful and quiet; felt safe.|- Keurig coffee machine with Starbucks coffee pods in rooms.|- Refrigerator in room.|- Large, flat-screen TV in room with DirecTV.|- Free wifi.|- Staff is very personable, and very, very friendly, and very helpful. We enjoyed visiting with them.|- We didn't have to ask for fresh towels; they asked and brought them.|- We had one issue and they were on it immediately, and had it fixed.|- We really enjoyed sitting out on the balcony to drink our coffee.|- In it's heyday, this place must have been a beautiful sight to behold.||Cons:|- Expensive considering the current state of the buildings and grounds.|- Cafe is shuttered|- No microwave in room.|- Pulled out one of the trundle beds and apparently sheets had not been changed - a false fingernail and dried "body fluid" - thankfully, we didn't need that bed. No, we didn't say anything - it was about 11 at night and staff not there, so we just pulled off those sheets to make sure they get changed, and closed the trundle bed back up. All the other beds were clean.|- The outside is in varying states of disrepair - there were broken/moldy lawn furniture in various places, old disconnected A/C unit outside of one of the buildings; garbage cans with old garbage - top of one was full of water and cigarette butts. |- Trash scattered here and there (to be fair, there was also a 1500 person mud run going on in the adjacent field, so...)|- Parts of the grounds are overgrown with weeds.|- The majority of the buildings/windows were covered with accumalated dirt/dust/dead bugs on the outside.|- All the outside tables had either dirt, dust or dead bugs.|- Outside walkways and door rugs looked at if it had not been swept, or cleaned with a blower, for a very long while - accumulated dirt in various places.|- I'm not sure what happened to this place, but it looked as if years ago, in the middle of a very busy day, that all activity had suddenly came to a screeching halt and everything was then left just as it was.|I took a bunch of photos of all pros and cons, but no point in posting. We have very mixed feelings about the place.||Thing to know before you go:|- Rooms have tankless water heaters so water has to run a bit before getting hot.|- Dollar Store is about 2 miles up the road.|- No source of food located on the ranch.|- No microwave in room.||My opinion:|This place could be fabulous with just a little TLC and grounds upkeep. The room seemed to be very updated, with new toilet, shower, etc, so I'm hoping they are in the process of trying to| get it up and running again, and just haven't got to the outside yet.|It made me sad to envision what it must have been compared to it's current state. We travel to the area once a month.|I would love to stay there again, but we just can't justify the price given it's...
Read moreFrom the booking process until we checked out early this was a terrible experience.
I received 4 conflicting emails from them regarding our booking and onsite event schedule.
Upon arrival, guests must walk through a workout room, (who's bathroom is full of dead crickets), up to a check in desk. We were not provided with a map of the property, so the check in lady had to walk outside and point us in the direction to go to our rooms. The ONLY part of this stay that had any positive aspects was the room, it was clean and well decorated. However, remember to bring your own beverages, because the charge you $1.50 for a bottle of water. Bring your own soap and shower caddy, since the soap they have is able 2 inches long, 1 inch wide and less than a 1/4 thick. They don't have showers. They have a tub with a handheld showerhead that doesn't extend past 2 feet, so in order to wash your hair you have to sit in a tub . The food wasn't even 1 star. The salad bar consisted of a bucket of sliced black olives, a pan of lettuce and a bucket of mystery dressing. The service at the restaurant is just aweful.
The entire property looks like the maintenance and housekeeping staff have been on a 6 month vacation. The whole place is dirty. Cob webs everywhere. Hornets and bugs all over our building. Half of the outside lights and ceiling fans were broken. Under the pavillion for the "chuck wagon" dinner, there were more flies than I have ever seen, and some ceiling fans were completely missing with exposed electrical wires hanging down.
We drove past their "Spa" to get to the pavillion, and we asked about it and were told it was open and we could book some spa treatments with the front desk. So when we called the front, they told us it was closed for remodeling. The staff has the poorest training and information I have ever experienced.
So we went to the pool, not a property pool, but when we asked where the pool was we were directed to a gate, past a retaining wall and in someone's personal residence backyard. (evidently when you go here you swim in the property owners backyard). The pool (saltwater) was full of dead bees and other bugs, again with cobwebs on all the chairs. There were no towels or service staff around the pool. So we went back to our room and went to bed.
The next morning, we went to the buffet breakfast. Basics included bacon, eggs etc. We had to request a fruit bowl as extra, and the waitress said she would put some strawberries in a bowl. I went to serve my self a drink from the orange juice dispenser and noticed that the ice was in a dirty bucket/container, so I tried the coffee. As I was walking back to my table, my wife yelled out as a large mouse/rat went running out from under the buffet where the food was laid out. Then we saw another mouse come from behind the food.
At this point we immediately left without finishing our food. We went back to our room, and packed, and went to the front office and checked out.
Folks, please don't waste your time or money at this place. Just...
