Hands down our favorite camping spot yet during our 2 month traveling and camping trip. My husband, 3 dogs, and I stayed here for 5 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. Flush, clean toilets and a big enough back in pad for our tear drop trailer and suv. Trash bins close by and no worries about bears because of the placement of the camp and the highways. Beautiful trails and a neat community area with a playground and horse shoes. Gary is such a genuine and kind host along with Heidi who volunteers at the park, which is what really made our stay awesome. They both would say hi and ask how we were doing every time they’d pass our campsite and they really made an effort to make sure all of our needs were met. Gary was very helpful when we had battery issues and offered to cone off our space when we went into town. He also delivers firewood himself right before the sun goes down with a $10 and $20 bundle rates. Sites vary in size, and if you’re driving an RV there are only 2 sites with full hook ups which were taken during our entire stay so you might want to plan accordingly to boondock if...

My wife and I shot up the coast on an adventure where we didn't do ANY preplanning. We got in the car each morning and planned the next night along the way. Florence Keller Campground saved our butt because this area is jammed with people who did do there planning. There are no reservations in this campground. We drove into Jedediah Campground around 3. They said they were full but if we came back at 5 there were a few spots they would release and maybe we could be one of the lucky few that got one. Instead we shot on over to Florence Keller which is only, maybe 5 min away. There were maybe a dozen open spots. They were probably all filled up by around 6pm or so. The facility is nice. No showers as it's only a county park, but it was well maintained and the spots were nice. The trees were secondary redwoods, I believe, which means they're not as old and tall as the ones in Jedediah Park, but it was still beautiful. They had a couple little trails but if you're used to hiking, they wouldn't satisfy you. For that you'll have to leave the park and journey back towards...

Have mixed feelings, but this stay was not the best. Love that it is FCFS since we to tend to wander without set plans and don't always know where we will spend the night. There are about 30 sites with porta potties with handwashing station, trash cans, and running water faucets at few spots throughout the campgrounds. Road is a one way paved path, separate walking paths, there are picnic tables, fire pits and visibility numbered sites with typical camp rate. Host was helpful and is fairly attentive to who is on-site.

Since it can accommodate several campers, there is not as much privacy at some sites. Campers 2 sites over were loud late night & our site (25) was by the road (leads to hwy 101) and car noise also impeded a good night sleep. It is definitely pretty & looks well maintained, but unless fully out of options or able to try another site, do not want to stay there. The host was kind in offering another site that would be opening, but we decided to...

This is a great little grove of redwood trees just off the 101 north of Crescent City. It's a left turn off the 101 on to 'elk cross". Google maps will then have you make another left immediately into the park which is wrong! That is a one-way exit! Continue straight on Elk Cross and make the NEXT left at "Cunningham Lane". That will take you to the proper left hand turn into the entrance to the park. Please know that the roads in the park are one way and very narrow. Probably shouldn't bring any rigs in over 24 feet or so. There's probably only three spots in the park that will take a bigger trailer than that and only one spot that has full hookups. It was super difficult for our rig to get into that spot and ours is a 30 ft travel. The redwoods are amazing they are thick and tall and this is a very shady beautiful Grove. Beautiful pathways that tell and incredible story of these ancient trees.

Closed playground and restroom amenities. Only had a couple porta potties. Sites are close to one another and other campers were unkind. Signs should be posted about the cat colony of 17 living at the campground. I saw one when I arrived and tried to help but by the time I bought a crate and came back there were 5 at my site, and no shelters within 50 miles would take even one. Found out later they were part of the TNR program and caught a couple months ago but it made me really sad that super friendly kittens are just living here with no place to go. (Fed daily by camp host) I would have rescued one if not for my allergies. This is a known issue and there is no information posted about it. I just wish I would have known before buying stuff and using a whole afternoon to try helping and ultimately giving up.
