Beautiful property nestled in a gorgeous forest. Plenty of restaurants nearby in Crescent City as well as a state park filled with ancient, 1,000+ year old redwood trees. The home is rustic and basic, so if you're looking for a well staffed and all-inclusive resort, this isn't it. There is no television and the Internet can be spotty at times. But if you enjoy a more rugged experience that allows you to disconnect from the monotony of day-to-day life and reconnect with nature, this is a great place to be. The rooms are well apportioned and each one has a private shower and a balcony overlooking the gorgeous landscape. There's also a very friendly black kitty on the property who loves pets and attention. I sympathize with those who left low star reviews, feeling they were booking a resort when this is simply a basic cabin in the woods. For me, though, I enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of the cabin and of the natural landscape. I encourage anyone who is considering this place to carefully research it before booking, and if this simple yet beautiful property fits what you're looking for, it's a great deal.
Edit: I did notice that the third party websites do mention that the cabin property includes restaurants and bars. This is not true, although I am not sure if this is the fault of the owners or the third party website getting something mixed up. I encourage the owners to look into that if possible. They mostly rent off of Airbnb, and the listing there is accurate, so it's probably...
Read moreI went to the Redwoods in Crescent City with some friends in July. The first thing I noticed is how flat the land is and you can see trees for a good distance. The fern and shamrock that grow everywhere is so beautiful and densely spaced out. The paths are clear and level so the walk was pleasant as I didn't feel like I would trip. The trees are amazingly tall, and some have fallen exposing the roots. There are many interesting groupings to enjoy of trees that fell and are covered by fern or shamrock. There is moss hanging from some trees and a lovely maple type tree growing in low groups. The thing that really stood out was the quiet and the incredible fresh clean air. I felt amazing like I was getting an extra high amount of oxygen. The quiet was so great, hearing just the river near by and a slight breeze. There were many people there but you could not hear them. Kids enjoyed climbing and crawling into the unusual nooks of the fallen and older burned out trees. Such a beautiful place. So peaceful...
Read moreI didn't have any idea what I was getting into here, but loved it in the end. First, it's off the beaten trail, and even locals weren't sure where it was. Surrounded by a Redwood forest, in a beautiful, quiet peaceful setting, this log style lodge was charming and very satisfying. Apparently owned by a Chinese family, you take your shoes, or in my case boots off, at the door and put on some provided slippers. A nice lady pointed to the guests names on a list, and I pointed out my name. Without much English exchanged, she effectively showed me around, and took me to my very nice room. There is WiFi, and there are little treats around for you, like cookies and fruit. The mutual areas are huge, ornate, but comfortable. I simply loved it! One caution, the road is gravel and some, (on the curve), is deep. I was on a motorcycle, and it was a little bit of a challenge staying alive, (but well worth it). Again, I loved it, it's something special, and I hope to visit again,...
