My grandparents were founding members of Terrace Lakes Resort. The road that their property was on was named for my grandpa. My entire youth was spent riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, swimming in the pool, golfing with my grandpa and hanging out in the lodge. I was super excited to share this same magical experience with my husband, our daughter and son-in-law for father's day. We rented one of the resorts cabins for one night, ate two meals at the lodge, rented 2 carts, played 9 holes and swam in the pool. All in we paid over $400. When we arrived at the lodge, it was obvious that the building had fallen into disrepair. The lady that checked us in seemed irritated that we there and was incredibly rude. When we arrived at the cabin, the first thing we saw was two overflowing ashtrays on the porch. The inside was no better! It was dirty and dingy, the coffee maker leaked everywhere, and the water smelled so much of sulfur, it was obviously not even filtered. The bed was not just gross, it was literally impossible for 2 people to be in. Breakfast was an even worse experience! The restaurant is down right dilapidated! The cream for our coffee was expired and curdled, and the food inedible. Lunch was no better. The worst part of the experience, by far, was what happened on the golf course. Our tee time was Monday morning at 10am, we arrived at 1st tee at 9:55. While we were getting ready some other folks came up behind us so we told them that my daughter and I are just learning, so we let them go ahead. As we played the course we allowed 3 or 4 other couples or groups to play through. When we arrived at the 7th tee we saw a couple of older men coming up on us, so we pulled over into the shade to let them play through. But instead of being grateful they cussed us out for taking too long and stormed off the course. By the time we reached the 8th tee the golf course duty showed up! He started by saying that multiple people had come into the pro shop and commented on how polite we had been, but then he went on to say that those last 2 men came in and threw an absolute fit about us, so he came out to tell us that we could finish the last 2 holes, but if us girls didn't know how to golf any better than that WE DIDN'T BELONG ON THE COURSE! If beginners are not welcome on the course, they had no business taking our $$! I am absolutely horrified! I will never go...

Oh man.. where to even begin.. I was at the end of a 2k mile roadtrip where i had been camping and booked this "Resort" for my last night to relaxed and unwind and get a good nights sleep and a shower before my flight home.. and wow.. First things first.. we checked in with the waitress because the other staff had left.. The staff was rude and seemingly unaware of all questions we asked... we tried calling several times to order dinner and walked back up to order where we had to encounter the same girl who got every change in the order wrong.. fine, whatever.. we made do... even with a bag, utensils and napkins.. We did go to the pool, briefly.. it was a friday night and it started filling up quickly and became a little overwhelming.. but the pool itself was fine.. prob the nicest part about the place... We booked a cabin, not the motel.. and let me say again.. WOW.. We drove over, and this resort is weird.. i think its full of golf course, residents and a motel and cabins.. Our cabin (10) was right next to trailers that appeared to be lived in and our window view was of these trailers.. more importantly, a great view of the trailer septic dump tubes.. Awesome! The floor and carpet were disgusting and socks and shoes were DEF needed ..Our AC made so many clank noises it continued to wake us up throughout the ENTIRE evening.. i'm not saying this was a quiet noise and it was annoying.. it was LOUD!! And bothersome and kept us awake.. Esp when ALL WE WANTED WAS A SHOWER aND A BED for the night.. now the shower.. i WISH it was noted somewhere, ANYWHERE that this cabin was on unfiltered well water.. the smell was PUNGENT!! i cant tell you how many shampoos it will take to get out the smell, but thus far two isn't enough.. this is one smell, i cannot stand and we had to open windows to air out the cabin.. and this is from someone who LIVES ON WELL.. but i treat it so the smell is nonexistent! This is absolutely unacceptable.. I typical stay in lower budget places, but this was supposed to be a treat to myself that ended up being WORSE than most low budget motels i stay at.. horrible and def would NOT recommend to anyone traveling..

Sidenote, the food was decent and decently priced, albeit made incorrectly and the golf course really does...

The Terrace Lakes "Resort" was a disappointment for us. The drive was pretty simple, easy to follow and had a fantastic forest surrounding the area. The golf course was beautiful and the grounds were well kept with multiple options for over night stays. We chose the least expensive room at the "hotel" portion of the property, Room 4. We arrived about 5pm and the lady at the counter was not very welcoming and just handed us our key with minimal instruction and pointed to our room. No friendly greeting or offer to show us around, maybe she was having a bad day. No worries. ||The room was pretty rustic, to say the least. It was very small and we could not open the door without hitting the bed, no dresser and just enough room for 2 suitcases on the floor, but we had to step over them to get to the side of the bed. The TV was also super small, possibly a 25", mounted pretty high on the wall with cable tv options. No wifi. There was a small nightstand on each side of the bed but only one outlet. Be sure to bring your phone charger with a block. The bed was clean and quite comfortable. The bathroom was a bit of a surprise. Very small, could not fit 2 people, with a slow running sink and a nasty brown ring in the toilet (see photo). The towels were thin, clean but well used, and the shower/tub were adequate with a temperamental hot faucet. You had to step up 18" to get into the tub (that was awkwardly different). We checked out in the morning and the same lady was at the desk. When I showed her a picture of the toilet, there was no apology just a matter of fact statement that said they'd been having some problems with extra iron in the water that could make it look like that. ||Perhaps their other accommodations were better but this was not "resort" living but outback...

Decided to get away during the week and take in some hot springs. Choose Terrace Lakes because it's a short drive from Boise and heard good things. We checked in around 3pm. Lady at reception was nice but not personable. I thought the rooms were upstairs from where we checked in. No, upstairs is the restaurant. The motel is across the road. It appears to be a converted mobile home. Be prepared, the rooms are small and very basic however they provide everything you need for a night or two. A bed and a bathroom. On arrival the water was not working and this effected the motel, restaurant, and hot springs pool. We wanted to use the hot springs pool right away however we couldn't because the water pump was not functioning resulting in cool water. We ended up in the restaurant/bar which is spacious with big screen tv's, darts and pool tables. They also serve a variety of good food. After a couple of hours we decided to try the pool again, no luck. The water temperature had dropped quite a bit. We called it a night and would try again in the morning. Next morning, the pool was still not up to temperature. We decided to leave since there was nothing left to do. We stopped in Crouch for coffee, to find out the only coffee shop is closed on Wednesday. We went to the local grocery store where they had fresh hot coffee available for a reasonable price. Overall, I'll try again but will go in spring or fall for a day trip. Not recommended during the winter.
