Second visit, Oct 2023. Dropping the rating to two stars. Check in was a breeze, Park was probably 1/4 occupied. Found our site and found a huge pile of construction material at the back of it. Drove back to the office and asked to switch to another site we had seen. Office staff seemed surprised by my comment about the construction material. Anyway, no issue we got moved. Once parked, I went to hook up our cable (Park advertised having cable TV) and discovered no hook up. Spotted the host driving by and pointed this out. After they inspected our site, we were told one of the mowers must have cut the cable. Cut the cable, the sliced the entire connection away. Now, what really set the tone was our site had trash - cig butts, pieces of paper, etc. I had to think, doesn't anyone check these sites after someone departs? Had they, they would have seen the cable was gone, they would have seen the trash. Then about an hour after setup, there was a spike in power. We had a surge protector, a really nice one. Did you catch "we had". Not only did it fry the surge protector, it blew and I mean burned a fuse in our fridge. Fridge would work on shore power and propane but no longer on DC and once home we had to replace the power board. Won't be back.
Getting a three star due solely to our site. First visit and we have a small rig and we had to have gotten the smallest site in the park; #5. It was back in, on top of a small hill, just enough asphalt for a picnic table and two chairs. Tall grass around the site that needed mowing. Obvious when setting up, the asphalt had stability issues - one of our stabilizers went right through the asphalt. Cell coverage is good but no wifi. Follow the map and you can get a good 2.5 mile walk in. Don't be fooled by the time zone - the Park runs off Eastern time zone but it doesn't sit in GA. Can be confusing but Park management said to make things easy, they run off Eastern. Bath house and laundry were nice and clean. However, when we went to use the laundry (three washers/three dryers) one of each was broken and the dryers were stopped but had clothes in them. No biggie, the washer takes 30-mins, sure they'll be empty by then. Nope, in fact the clothes sat in the dryers for a good hour after they stopped. We opted to remove the clothes from one so we could use it. About 25-mins later a host family drove up in a golf cart and yep, the clothes belonged to them. They now had been sitting for 90-mins. Female wrote a nasty note about touching other folks clothes so we wrote one back to be respectful and remove your stuff when it's done. We camped at Uchee Creek Campground/Marina in a...
Read moreI booked a small cabin for my dogs and I to visit during a quick TDY trip to Fort Moore. Recently PCSing from FMGA, I definitely wanted to get a cabin instead of a hotel for the privacy and have always loved visiting Uchee Creek for events and recreation. During my stay, I could not get the shower to work. I called the after hours number to ask if I was maybe doing something wrong or if the shower was in fact broken. They said they would call back the next day during business hours to have someone come check it out. I never received a call back. Fortunately they do have a bathhouse so I was able to take all of my clothes and shower items and walk to shower the next day.
After my visit, I went straight back to work only stopping by my home to take my dogs home and unload my luggage. At work that evening, I noticed red bumps on my arms. At the time I was not overly concerned. However, the next couple days the bumps had spread all over my arms and neck. I went to sick call to be seen and was told they appeared to be BED BUG bites. I quickly went home and stripped everything in my home and inspected, cleaned and washed EVERYTHING. While cleaning, I did in fact find a single bed bug. On Monday I called Uchee Creek Campground to inform them of the situation. They informed me they would have a manager call me back. The manager did not in fact call me back. I called again on Wednesday, was placed on hold and then told a supervisor would call me back. Never got a call back. Called again Thursday and the manager had already left for the day. The nice lady at the front desk informed me that they had checked the cabin and the shower worked fine and there were no bed bugs.
I had not travelled anywhere except to the Uchee Creek campground and had not even slept in my own bed yet when I first noticed the bites on my arm. While I am hopeful they did send an exterminator to check the cabin, there is no possible other explanation for where I would have got this bed bug. Aside from that, it is now Friday, a week from my check out, and NO MANAGER HAS CONTACTED ME. The communication is nonexistent. I have asked for a refund for my stay, and only the manager can fulfill that request. I am extremely disappointed in the service, lack of communication, and frankly - pissed off for basically being called a liar.
I will take ownership for not being diligent and checking the cabin when I arrived, but being a quick work trip and an MWR FACILITY, I foolishly thought this was a clean and safe place for me and my...
Read moreThe only reason I went to Georgia was to see my brother graduate the army and my father rented a RV for the trip there were 6 adults and 4 children 2 of the adults my girlfriend and I slept very uncomfortable the first night so the very next morning at about 9:30 we went to the office to see if they had a small cabin available as I walk in I see a sign saying that we needed to call a head of time so I was a lil disappointed but this lady ( Debrah) come right behind the lady I was talking to first to see if the had any openings and Debrah seemed sooo happy to get me in this cabin so I’m getting happy I said I wanted to stay 2 nights (not knowing my father wasn’t going to be as long because of lack of communication ) and Debrah knowing I’m with him doesn’t say anything about how long he was staying but why would she so she doing paperwork and say she didn’t to mention the cancellation or a 2 night minimum but I just happy cause I thinks I’m going to sleep so comfortable so didn’t think twice so I get the key and got see my brother then while on the army base the RV lost brakes and we almost hit a car and while we’re out the RV trying to figure out what happened is when I found out my father wasn’t going to be there the 2nd night I had the cabin and I didn’t know if we would even make it back to the camp ground so I called to cancel one night and that’s when I find out about the 2 night minimum so I canceled the whole thing and returned the keys as soon as I could which was @7 pm after they closed because after losing brakes had to get them checked right after so places we went to that couldn’t look at the RV brake we finally found and it was closed and we had to take my brother back to the army base so I good the next morning after another honorable night to talk they opened at 8am and I’m there outside waiting for 15 minutes until one of what like the maintenance man said they’re running late and we had to be back to the base @9 and visiter entrance isn’t close so call to get information on my refund and out of $180 they refunded $45 so I spent $135 on a cabin I never saw and for holding keys but Debrah thinks she did me the big favor this camp must need more business because they charged me for having keys so thank for one the worst travel experience of this 20...
