I had to wait a few days before posting this review as it is important to process your experience outside of the emotional 1st reactions. So, here we go. My wife and I wanted to attend the 60th annual Buffalo roundup and had stayed at this campground once before which was a great stay in site#72. I called and made reservations for the same site for this last week, and they told me 72 was taken, but 74 was open and would fit my rig so I booked. I booked this back in July. When we arrived, the employee behind the desk said that that site# 74 which we booked, was no longer available and said that we would be fine in site # I. We went to park in site I. and it was impossible to fit our 37' 5th wheel and 1-ton crew cab dually in this spot. I went back to the office to find that 2 additional staff had replaced the woman that suggested that we fit into site "I". Anyways, there is not enough character space to clearly explain what happened here. Long story short, when making the reservation for site#74, and being charged for this site and reservation, nobody asked or indicated that I needed to "LOCK" the reservation for $25.00. Had I known that this email would not be in your radar right now. I strongly recommend, if considering booking with this facility, to be very clear about what site you need. I do understand that campground staff do have to deal with allot of disappointed customers. When I met with Heater who was great and very helpful, I did have a negative comment from |Jen, which is why I will never revisit this campground again, or the adjacent KOA, and also recommend to others to check out all other options before...
Read moreAmazing campground! My girlfriend and i, as well as our puppy stayed here for a month to work remotely and it had everything you could ask for. The campground was always peaceful, it was well wooded and everything was in walking distance. We stayed from late April-Mid May, so we almost had the whole campground to ourselves. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool (i think it opens May25?) and would be sure to schedule our next visit during a time when its open. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. Our Cabin C3 was perfect for the two of us. Plenty of space and amenities (mini fridge, microwave, tv, Coffee maker). If a minor repair needed to be done the staff were always on it right away. Didn't get a chance to try their Wi-Fi as we brought our own ATT hotspot, but the hotspot had great connection the whole time to allow us to do our work. Compared to surrounding campgrounds, it was very cozy and had a very family run atmosphere. We stayed at the Rushmore KOA after our stay here only because the last few dates we wanted here were already booked and it was terrible compared to Beaver Lake. If your looking for something more commercial with crazy amounts of activities then the Koa may be right for you, but if your looking for a quiet place to stay and get away from it all then Beaver Lake is defiantly the place. I cant review the RV spots as we were in the cabin but they all looked well placed and spaced out, rather than on top of each other. Almost all the spots have the privacy of trees. All in all i will defiantly be staying at Beaver Lake again...
Read moreStayed here 2 nights in July 2019. In making advanced reservation over the phone I happened to say I agreed that ‘it would be nice to be near the restroom.’ So that’s what they did, put us in campsite # 1 in a 22’ travel van that was quite literally right next to the bathroom/showers, putting us inside the “L” area of that and a garage, and literally a few feet from a large propane tank! Needless to say the aesthetics were poor and not at all appealing! This should NOT be a campsite or at least not a full pay site! There was nothing else available and no compensation. We did however get another very nice site for our second night. Staff member Mike went above and beyond and was very kind in diffusing the situation and helping us find a new site. When we were ready to leave the campground our battery decided to go kaput. Jim, one of the maintenance guys, happened to be checking out a cabin next to us and we asked for help—not knowing how much help we'd get after our first campsite issue. This man patiently went beyond the call of duty driving me to a NAPA store and installing it to get us back on the road! The only thing that tops that is that he would not accept any compensation! So, it all started at Beaver Lake on a low note but ended on a high note. Thanks Mike and Jim, can’t...
