I’m surprised there are only ~ 40 reviews online, and all are five star reviews, especially because the owner told me over 2k guests have stayed in the Lookout Tower alone. Here is my honest assessment: The owners are very nice; responsive over text, phone and in person to questions and concerns. If you have any issues with motion sickness, you might want to rethink the Lookout Tower. The top floor of the tower sways. The sensation is akin to mal de débarquement syndrome/land syndrome when you get off a 15 hour flight: a rocking/swaying motion. The husband was very nice when we called him fairly late at night: he explained the engineering of the tower, and while he did help to put us at ease (re: the integrity of the structure), his explanation didn’t help with our nausea. It’s important to note he offered to refund our night (if we wanted to leave and go to a hotel), but considering it was 11 PM, we decided to stay. You cannot lock the doors to the Lookout Tower. Just shutting the doors is cumbersome - the handles are very fickle. The Lookout Tower does NOT have a shower upstairs. In fairness to the owner, they didn’t write that there is a shower upstairs, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to presume a $500 a night room is going to have a shower - even a small one - on the same level where you change to go to bed, and sleep. I’ve stayed in everything from Riads in Africa to historic Inns in Europe, and I’ve never seen anything like this. I presumed the outdoor ground level shower was simply a nice accoutrement to use after a hike, or before going in the hot tub. Wrong. If you want to shower, you’ll have to go down and then back up not one, but two sets of very steep stairs (so steep my size 8 women’s shoe could not fit on the steps, and I had to walk down them sideways, one step at a time) or you’ll have to take the lift, which indicates no people are allowed on it (but we were told it’s OK to ride, as there’s a 10,000lb capacity). FYI: the lift is going to take a while… but it does get the job done. In addition to having to carry clothes and towels, the ground level shower is open, so in the winter months, be prepared to be cold. There are two tiny refrigerators at the Lookout Tower. Both are mini fridges, so I’m not sure how anyone could bring enough food that requires refrigeration for several days. They really could benefit from putting a large refrigerator on the second level (the level with the projector) as that’s where the mini pizza oven and grill are. The projector is awesome; as long as it’s nighttime / dark, it provides a great viewing experience. This level does not have a toilet. Speaking of toilets, there’s only one bathroom in this entire tower: on the top floor. So anytime you have to go to the bathroom, you’re going to have to schlep up one to two flights of stairs, or take the slow lift, or go downstairs and use … the woods. Although described as such online, there is no fireplace. There is a gas fire pit outside by the Jacuzzi. It’s cute and functional. The hot tub is over chlorinated, and there’s a bobbing chlorine tablet holder in it; it had a very intense smell, so we removed it while we used the hot tub (for about 10 minutes). The rocks arranged around the tub are somewhat precarious. Be mindful of where you step. The same mindfulness goes for each level of stairs: after the final step, there’s about a 2 inch drop. This may seem insignificant, but if you’re not prepared for it, it sends you off balance. The putting green 😔 My husband is a scratch golfer, and he said he could really only use one of the four holes and only from one direction. In our opinion, the putting green summed up the Lookout Tower: it’s a very “instagramable” place, and in theory it’s lovely, but it fails in actual execution. This place might be a good option for people who want to “mix it up” and do something different than renting a typical cabin, but don’t want to pay Relais & Châteaux Blackberry Farm/Blackberry Mountain/The Swag prices near the Appalachian or Great Smoky mountains

I wish I could give more than 5 stars because trip to Selah Ridge was incredible!!! My husband and I stayed at the Lookout Tower for 5 days to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary. Daniel and April have created the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing getaway on their land and the fact that they have chosen to share it all in this way with their guests makes the experience so special. The tower had the most incredible views. We loved taking it slow and sipping our hot coffee in the mornings from the middle level just swaying in the breeze on the daybed. We cooked delicious meals on the Blackstone and in the pizza oven. We spent our evenings making cocktails and enjoying the warmth and view from the amazing hot tub. We loved the putting green and O-M-G, the rainfall shower?! Absolutely luxurious! The shared greenhouse space was so beautiful. We took advantage of the sauna/cold plunge on several mornings - what a unique experience and a great amenity to have on site! Thank you a million times over to Daniel and April for allowing us to spend this precious time relaxing, recharging, and reconnecting at the Lookout Tower! We are already dreaming of another trip to one of your properties in the future. If you’re thinking of booking a trip here, DO IT! Do not hesitate for another minute, you will not regret going here!!

I took my time searching for the best place to stay in the forest in Georgia and I found it. This place for me is perfection. The lockout tower, it's the gem. It has absolutely everything for an incredible stay. The views of the beauty of the mountains with all the fall colors are spectacular. Every level of this cabin offers a nice and unique experience. From the ground with the hot tub and the firepit. The first level with the open shower. The second level with the retractable proyector and the swing, and the top with the cozy and warm bedroom with all the big windows around it to see through. Even has a lift to carry your luggage. Feels welcoming, cozy, warm and so peaceful there. I didn't expect the welcome letter with my name on it and the wine set; it was such a nice and kind touch. The people that own this place you can tell they really think in everything and every little detail to make this place really beautiful and make you stay perfect and they made it. They took to another level of confort and luxury our...
