Snow Canyon If you are heading to St George Utah this is a great campground. We stayed a couple of nights and did some awesome biking and hiking. Close to Zion and North Rim

Beautiful park and campground I was looking for a place to stay around St George and although I typically boondock, the positive reviews of Snow Canyon on Campendium got my attention. I was interested in the dry camp section and sites 22 and 23 were the most often recommended for larger rigs. I checked the reservation site for availability and decided I better be safe so I reserved site 23 ($8 reservation fee). The site is huge and has great views but it's about 30 feet from the park road which is pretty heavily traveled. I was only planning to stay 2 nights but talking to the ranger I found there were several non-reservable sites that were also pretty large. I selected site 21 which is a long back-in site with lots of privacy. The negative was the temperature was up to 108 during my mid-July stay and all of the vegatation that was great for privacy blocked the breeze. That is a hot site. It looked like site 22 would be a better choice. Notes: mid-July, and I assume all summer, is very hot in Snow Canyon. During the week, the campground was mostly empty. The restroom in the dry camp section is pretty nice but the showers are barely warm. The entire campground is overrun with ants, I'm glad I don't tent anyone. There are enough hiking and biking trails to keep you busy for several days.

Great campground tucked right pass the hustle and bustle in St. George. There are 2 entrances to the park, you want to take the one to the right per your navigation, the other entrance outs you far out from the actual campground entrance. Check-in was very easy and campground hosts were very present. Sites 1-14 are a tight squeeze and on top of each other. Try to book in the outer loop. Sites 15A, 17 & 18 are great spots with nice tent pads. I was in Spot 15B and I don't recommend it. It's basically an extension of 15A and luckily we had a small 13' travel trailer and even then it was a tight squeeze. We parked in as if it were basic parking lot spot. If you had anything bigger, you would basically be nose to nose with 15A. The tent pad was the only nice thing about my spot. The location of the campground is great as you are within walking distance to multiple hikes. The bathrooms were always clean and the shower were over on the other side of the campgrounds. On the side of the showers, there are some nice secluded spots (Sites 20+). Most are first come, first serve but no hook-ups. Will definitely be back only if we could book a different spot.

We arrived to find we could barely fit our 30' 5th wheel into the site. Luckily we only have slides on one side. We could not open the door entirely and had to step to the side to exit our camper. Of course what outdid that was when several campers arrived that were even larger than ours cramping us even more. This is the 5th campground in Utah that we have stayed and by far it has the most erratic layout of all of them. "Wild" camping is spread out but water/electric hookup sites are on top of each other. I would not recommend this area to anyone and personally I would have preferred camping with no hookups. The State should consider rebuilding the entire campground. I think it would give visitors a better experience. Also, checkout is not until 2 pm so we had to wait over an hour to get into our site. To their credit it is a beautiful area and we look forward to doing a couple of days of hiking. We'll see how the rest of our visit goes.

Update: Nothing has changed with regards to the campground review but we had two days of incredible hiking. The landscape...
