I only giving 3 stars based on the pool mentioned in my comments, but overall we love this place!||||Our family recently stayed at Anchor Down RV Resort. This is an annual trip for us & that we look forward to. We love this resort, but I need to comment on things that we saw during this year’s trip.|| ||This has been going on for years, but there are underage children driving golfcarts, even those owned by the resort, WITHOUT an adult. In addition to underage children driving, teens were driving WAY TOO FAST. We saw one teen drive over a speedbump going down the hill toward the lower sites – he did not slow down & the windshield, which had the top part folded down, actually fell off into the road (a small piece popped off of that) & he ran it over. He stopped, somehow got it back on & proceeded on. That golf cart was owned by the resort.|| ||The main thing I want to comment about is the pool area. The pool water was cloudy the entire week & by weeks’ end, it was really gross! They REALLY need to do something about adults with alcohol. It is posted that no glass containers are allowed, but there were glass containers brought in. Alcohol is to be put in koozies, some were, some were not. WHY is alcohol allowed to be taken into the water? That was not all – a lady came over with food & handed some, on a fork, to another lady in the pool. Some of that food dropped in the water. Back to the alcohol – there were SO many adults in the water, with alcohol, just standing around. When we wanted to get in to cool off, my family just stayed over in a corner, that is, if we ever found a spot empty. It was pitiful! Families who wanted to have their little ones in to float around – it was nearly impossible. It is a free country & if you drink your alcohol, fine, but WHY doesn’t Anchor Down require ‘drinking’ adults to do so out of the water?! Please, please, Anchor Down Owner, make a rule change preventing alcohol from being taken into the pool water & have your staff members enforce it!!!!!!! The entire week, I saw maybe one employee drive down to look around, but other than that, nothing, until the last day I was there because an argument started between families; there were plenty of staff who came then. That particular day, this argument happened all due to a family’s ‘tween’ girls hitting a small volleyball back & forth across the pool. This was not a lightweight beach ball! This ball was hitting people in the pool & out. Some in my family were hit but we did not say anything. Finally, a lady did say something to the girls – guess they told their Mom & that Mom went over & told this lady to not speak to her daughter, that it was a public pool & pushed water with both hands toward this lady. So, they started having words between them. Things escalated & men from each family got involved. One of the men, who was kin to the lady who told the other to not talk to her daughter, knocked glasses off a man from the other family, so that man retaliated by throwing a Yeti-like cup, cutting the first man’s foot. His foot was bleeding & he stuck it in the pool!!!!!!!! The pool should have been shut down, at that point! Police were called but not sure how it ended up; I guess everyone hugged & made up, who knows. Again, I will say the Mom of those girls should have had them STOP hitting that ball back & forth across the pool. The other family, in my opinion, were not the ones at fault! That was not the only thing – another small girl, with that first group, looked to be practicing her softball pitching, throwing a ball over & over to someone across the pool water. Granted, it was not a softball, but a smooshie pool ball, but jeez! Stop it! Go & find some grass! This same group were there when we were last year & this same Mom & her husband fought practically the entire week at the pool – I witnessed him pouring out his beer into the water!!!!! I am hoping we are not there when this group is ever again! || ||Anchor Down Owner, I hope you read this & enact changes, by having staff monitor the golf carts, as well as the speed of those being driven, but more importantly, what goes on at the pool –...
Read morePlace is clean and very pretty. No scheduled activities but pool and water toys in the lake could keep kids busy. Wi-fi was sketchy at best. Extremely overpriced. In addition to the $69 per night, there are excessive taxes and fees. (Hotel tax, Resort Fees and sales tax), bringing the base price to over $80 per night. There is an up-charge for everything. Only 4 people allowed at each site. Up-charge if someone comes to visit and no more than 2 additional people are allowed to visit. Says you are allowed one vehicle per site, we were told at check in we could have a vehicle to drive, in addition to the big truck that stays attached to the camper. Turns out they were going to charge us for it. They wanted another $30 per week for that. An extra $10 to play corn-hole, extra to bring your own golf cart etc, etc, etc.... Our site was way away from the lake up a hill with no view of the water and no shade trees. Very hot! A long hike down a steep hill to the lake and back up. We could drive part way to the lake but there is still some steep hill hiking involved and we got caught in a thunderstorm before we could reach our car twice. We asked to be moved to a closer site and several looked available, but were told that they all were taken and they couldn't accommodate us. We asked if we could check out early and were told there will be no refund given for any of the days we scheduled. Even though some days were farther than the 3 days out the paperwork said was required for a partial refund. The final straw was while being caught in a thunderstorm I noticed a coffee mug being blown outside on a picnic table in the middle of a lighting storm with heavy winds and rain and no one around anywhere in sight. I picked up the mug and took it to my camper. Approximately 2 hours later campground Nazis come to my site, told me, only one car per site to come pay for my Prius, only 4 people per site (we never had more than 4) and surveillance video caught me "stealing" a coffee mug! I gave the campground manager the lost mug, we packed our things and left immediately. We won't be back. I have read several post with similar complaints and refunds refused. I would encourage patrons that are unhappy to leave immediately and dispute the charge with their credit card...
Read moreAnchor Down RV Resort proved to be an absolutely fantastic choice for our recent family vacation, providing an experience that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were genuinely impressed with the abundance of high-quality amenities available to guests. The beach area, in particular, was a standout feature, consistently maintained to be absolutely immaculate and inviting, offering a perfect spot for relaxation and fun by the water.
Regarding the lake itself, while we did observe some natural debris floating in certain areas – which is quite common for natural bodies of water – it certainly didn't detract from our enjoyment. We found that bringing along life jackets is an absolute must if you plan to enter the lake, not just for navigating any potential debris but, more importantly, for ensuring everyone's safety during swimming and water activities. It's a simple precaution that allows you to fully enjoy the beautiful lakeside setting.
What truly elevated our entire stay and made it so memorable were the resort hosts, Kevin and Marci Schubert. Their presence and dedication were genuinely outstanding. They demonstrated a remarkable level of professionalism in every interaction, always ensuring things ran smoothly, and their friendliness was incredibly welcoming. It's rare to encounter such attentive and genuinely kind individuals who clearly care so much about their guests' experience. They truly are some of the friendliest people we've had the pleasure of meeting, and their hospitality made a significant difference in our vacation.
Finally, a crucial piece of information for any future visitors planning their trip, especially those with personal golf carts: while personal golf carts are indeed allowed and very convenient for getting around the resort, it's important to note that they are NOT permitted to be taken off the RV resort property. This is an important rule to keep in mind when planning your outings, as they must remain within the resort boundaries.
Overall, our family had a wonderful and memorable time at Anchor Down RV Resort, thanks to its excellent facilities and the exceptional service provided by Kevin and Marci. We would highly recommend it to other families looking for a top-notch RV...
