VIR is undoubtedly one of the best racetracks in the U.S. – a world-class facility with an exceptional layout that offers a challenging and thrilling experience for drivers. The flow of the track, elevation changes, and scenic surroundings make it a must-visit for any motorsport enthusiast. Whether you're racing, spectating, or attending an event, the track itself lives up to the hype.

However, there are a few areas where VIR could improve the overall experience. One major inconvenience I encountered was with food. They make it difficult to order from outside services like DoorDash – I had food delivered, but it was stopped at the gate and not allowed through. With the cafeteria closed, it left me scrambling to figure out how to get food, which was frustrating.

Another issue is the cost associated with overnight stays. If you plan to sleep in your own RV, trailer, or even your car, be aware that it comes with additional fees, which seems excessive for bringing your own setup. On top of that, the RV connections are limited, so there may not be enough outlets for everyone needing power.

Lastly, if you bring any type of scooter, golf cart, or four-wheeler to get around the facility, VIR requires you to purchase a yearly pass, even if you only need it for a short stay. This policy feels a bit unreasonable and could discourage guests from bringing their own transportation.

Despite these hiccups, VIR is still an incredible destination for motorsport events. The track’s design and overall atmosphere make it a standout experience, but better food options, fewer overnight charges, and more flexibility with personal transportation would go a long way in making it perfect. Plan accordingly, and you'll still have a fantastic time at this...

Our team had an unforgettable experience at VIRginia International Raceway for Intern Day!

We brought interns and leaders from The Bee Hotel, The Holbrook Hotel, the soon-to-open Laurel Hotel, and The Blackburn Inn, and it was SO much fun from start to finish. Go-karting was the perfect mix of friendly competition and endless laughs! Patrick was a fantastic guide, going above and beyond to ensure the entire experience was seamless, safe, and super fun. He even took us out on the golf cart to get pictures and videos from the best spots on the track, and he had a case of ice-cold waters for the team between each round. Patrick and his team were super accommodating, friendly and hospitable!

After that, VIR catered an incredible dinner that was some of the best catered food I’ve ever had. They squeezed us into their schedule at the last minute, on top of another busy event onsite, and we were so appreciative! The spread was amazing: BBQ, brisket, salad, mac & cheese, baked beans, green beans, cornbread, cookies, tea, and lemonade — tons of food with plenty of options to accommodate the dietary restrictions for some of our team members. The event space was perfect for our team, and the team members that served us were extremely nice and hospitable; one is an accountant at VIR, truly showing their team members' versatility and willingness to help out wherever needed, which I always appreciate being in the hospitality industry.

If you’re looking for a team-building activity that combines excitement, great hospitality, and fantastic food, VIR is an absolute winner, and we can't wait to return with our entire team!

First time at a racetrack for me and my son, and so glad it was VIR! My newly-licensed (but experienced driver) son and I came for the Victory Junction Charity Laps and both had a wonderful time! But, we are still arguing over which one of us had better hot laps with the professional drivers: Son says the Radical was more intense than anything I possibly could have experienced, but I say riding with young-blood racing royalty - a grandson of Richard Petty (who did NOT appear to hold anything back during laps in the Petty Camaro) was the best. I think we're both right :)

Being able to drive on such a great track at such a nice facility staffed with tons of friendly people, and see so many wonderful cars (and even trucks!) of all styles, types, and levels, and to interact with so many enthusiasts accompanying their "objects of joy" in one place was a real treat. Helping a fine charity was the cherry on top!

Only downside was that we were held back a really long time by having some "VIP's" put ahead of us as we waited for our turn in the aptly named Radical, but had so much fun watching the various cars come and go on their laps, we only slightly regretted not having time to tour the rest of the facility or visit the folks of Flying Lizard we met at our hotel in Danville who so kindly offered to let us drop by to see the Audi R8 GT4's they were testing at VIR. One thing that isn't lacking is our desire to get back to VIR ASAP and figure out which ways will best suit us to get...

My husband and I had our wedding here (and we do track days here on our motorcycles). The wedding process did get tripped up a little bit when the event coordinator left VIR a couple months before the event and there were some growing pains getting everything shifted over to the new event coordinator, but the day of went perfectly, the catering (through VIR) was delicious, and the staff was above and beyond professional. We unfortunately had a mechanical failure in our 'getaway' car where we were unable to do our victory lap on the day of the wedding, but when we came back for a track day the following year, they allowed us to do a parade lap during the lunch hour, which the photographer for the track day also graciously stayed out in the heat a little longer to capture (I had brought my veil to wear under my helmet, it's hard to look fast when you're going parade lap speed though hahaha). Even on regular event or track day weekends, VIR's facilities are top notch and we're so glad to live just around an hour away. I'm sure we will return many times throughout our life

Virginia's Motorsport Resort is one of America's premier permanent road racing facilities. Awesome options for lodging, including the hotel, RV spaces, and tons of general camping. The entire facility is very spectator friendly, even for the biggest events. Plenty of viewing options to see all the racing through iconic corners, such as the Carousel, Nascar corner, Snake, Oak Tree, the Virginia Rollercoaster, and Hog Pen - some personal favorites are the grand stands by Nascar corner, then the stands at the end of the back straight at the Rollercoaster. Great views at both locations. Camping is a great way to experience a race weekend, even with the risk of the ever present drunk race fan; however, the staff at VIR has really worked to create a family-friendly environment, so they tend to crack down on overly raucous groups. Overall, a great way to spend a weekend with family of all ages. There's also a rental kart track, and a full bar and grill style restaurant you can visit, but be sure to check hours, as things can change when there's an event in town.
