I travel a lot for work. Two questions I ask before I commit to any motel are, "Is your WIFI good?" and "Do you have an onsite laundry?". For me, good, stable WIFI is an absolute necessity as I use it for business. An onsite laundry is beneficial but not imperative as long as a laundromat is close by. I asked these questions to the proprietor of Lakeview Motel before paying the money and committing to the first weeks stay. His reply was, "Oh- WIFI very good and laundry very close by". In both cases I feel as though I was lied to. First, the WIFI absolutely sucked. Almost every morning the WIFI was non existent and when returning in the early evening, I had to go to the office and request that the WIFI be fixed. Second, I never saw a laundromat anywhere near the motel the whole time I was there. As far as cleanliness, while I can't speak for the other rooms in the motel, my room was disgusting. One person said they judge a room by whether or not they feel the need to leave their shoes on. I felt that a full body condom might be appropriate. I had a couch in my room that was so broke down and stained (don't ask) that I couldn't sit on it. It literally grossed me out and gave me a back ache. My room was constantly plagued by flies. I think it was due to fact that the dumpster, located 5 rooms down, seemed to be constantly overflowing. (See Pics) Gotta be a health code violation here. The bathroom was so small that I could not turn around in it. There are large power lines running along the property in front of the motel which inhibited cell phone communication. Also, US Hwy 36 is 150' from the front of the motel and quite noisy during the day until about 10pm. During the week, the premises was fairly quiet but on Friday and Saturday, it sported the usual "No Tell" clientele. I think you get the idea here.||I will say a couple of good things about the place. One is that it had hot water. Second, the television worked.|| I'm not a person who likes to write bad reviews of motels. If you read my other reviews, you'll see that I have written my fair share of good reviews. This place, while I used it for working purposes, was just not what I call a good place to stay. There are few "good motel" choices in Decatur...
Read moreMy recent experience at Lakeview Hotel raised several concerns that warrant serious attention. During my stay, I encountered persistent issues with customer service that significantly detracted from my visit. Staff seemed overwhelmed and unresponsive to inquiries, leaving guests feeling frustrated and neglected. Additionally, the cleanliness of the hotel left much to be desired. I observed signs of neglect, including unsightly roaches in common areas and severe black mold in the bathrooms. These conditions not only affect the overall guest experience but also pose health risks that cannot be overlooked. Moreover, the management's approach seemed unusual, contributing to an uncomfortable atmosphere for guests. A hotelâs reputation relies on a welcoming environment, and feeling uneasy adds to the dissatisfaction of the stay. For these reasons, I believe it's crucial for the owners to seriously consider closing Lakeview Hotel until they can ensure proper management, cleanliness, and customer service. It would be in the best interest of potential guests for the establishment to undergo significant improvements before reopening. This approach communicates your concerns without resorting to overly negative or extreme language. Would you like to expand on any particular issue, or perhaps adjust the...
