have a very good time there but you're Park is too small to house the people that are coming from Decatur in and out of town you need to add more stuff make bigger areas and also have it open instead of closing right before school starts as people that are older would like to enjoy the outdoors and be able to swim without children and some would like to bring their grandchildren and the elderly and middle-aged don't have anything to do for the rest of the summer their mothers and fathers would like to enjoy their self to I think you should extend your hours on out so that people can enjoy the rest of the summer is it still hot in the month of September. there should be times where just people can come the elderly people and enjoy the place without a bunch of children and middle-aged people and the ages of 50 and above or a little younger. so we can enjoy our swim into some people don't have children some do some have grandchildren some don't but y'all need to fix it or adults have equal opportunity instead of the times that y'all have in closing see if you can't extend your hours or be grateful as many people would like to use Point Mallard more. they close all pools and all in August/ September around here in Alabama and there's nowhere to swim for adults you need to add more attractions to this place in the stand it and more campgrounds and not on top of one another there needs to be spaces with and without electricity be able to count and they're also needs to be places to swim when you stay at this camp ground and we do not have this. is the campsite we're not all close together we could enjoy it and the water park to should be allowed to stay open or this is a suggestion to bring in more business for the elderly and middle-aged I am 52 years old this year in September and I would love to enjoy the water and water parks sometimes are just so many people out there you can't you stand for hours to get on the stuff and I have not even got to use it and lived here all my life local from Alabama born in Florida. as you know there's not much to do on the Tennessee River after school starts everything closes before school or right...
Read moreWe went to the water park on the weekend this month and had quite a good time. Most of my review is going to be about that part of things as we didn't visit the rest of the complex.
The staff was very good to us even though things didn't go exactly as planned. A few of the attractions were closed this day, but the park had decided to charge half price admission in exchange, so we definitely didn't mind. Everything we had wanted to do was still open.
The park itself is well decorated and maintained, it's very pretty and just generally a pleasant place to be. The only issue I had with the grounds was that the water fountains weren't working, otherwise everything was very nice.
We ended up losing our locker key on one of the slides. The staff was very kind about this, didn't try to charge us anything for losing the key, and just let us back in the locker to collect our things at the end of the day. Very good customer service.
I only have two complaints:
The bottom of each of the pools is textured very harshly, presumably to keep people from falling. The problem was that this did a fair bit of damage to my feet, which were already hurting from the concrete, as well as causing my friend to cut up his leg a bit when he fell off his float on the lazy river. I understand this is to help keep it safe in the more shallow pools, but I feel like it's doing more harm than good. If you go, make sure to wear swim shoes.
The water fountains weren't working the day we went, and the park wanted to charge us $1 for water cups. When everything is already inflated due to it being an amusement park and no outside refreshments being allowed, that feels like it's in poor taste, especially with it being around 95 degrees that day. Small plastic cups can't cost more than 5-10 cents each, so I really don't understand this rule.
Otherwise we had a very good time. I would recommend coming on half price days, as I don't know that there's enough here to justify the $30 price tag, but $15 is definitely...
Read moreTerrible customer service. I usually visit this park every summer for last 5 years and this past weekend (6/3/16) was by far worst experience. My cousin came to visit from Michigan and I wanted to show him a good time here in Alabama. We came to the park and first thing at the door workers are just not friendly, food service workers were not friendly, i had to ask if the worker at the food court stand if she was having a good day because attitude was all over her face. &I'm Sorry if i'm paying 100 dollars + then there is a level of service i do expect. My biggest complaint is the life guards. I don't know what their protocol is exactly, but my cousin almost drowned in the wave pool. He can swim but he and my youngest brother got into a accident with their float in the eight ft. as my cousin was trying to help my brother ,his float got too far and his arm was hurt and so the waves were tiring him. He waves to the life guard for help and she just STARES. and people around him clearly can see hes needing help. So then my cousin struggles to the wall while still waving for help and she screams "you can't touch the wall" and hes like "can you PLEASE help me". Now if he had of drowned ,they clearly could of not prevented it because something is off on protocol. Thanks to those other swimmers he was able to make it back to 3ft. I have never experienced this much disappointment at this park but because of this i will certainly NOT return. And i will share this to everyone who visits Decatur. I did complain to the office and all i got was "sorry about that ".... I'm Sorry i just spent over 100 here at this park with only 2 1/2 -close to three hours of being able to utilize the park due to it closing down because of "lightening in the area ,closing for our safety" we deserved a little better than "sorry...
