Quality Inn Decatur near US-224 — Hotel in Decatur

My overall experience was very disappointing. Two separate counter staff were less than courteous. The condition of our room was embarrassing honestly. We stayed because that is the room we always stay in for our anniversary and special occasions. Rusty water was actively leaking from three spots in the ceiling including a can light. There was mold on many surfaces, mostly black on the exterior wall of our room and ceiling. The window sill retained a pool of stagnant water. There were used linens remaining in the bathroom shower from previous guests. The floors had not been swept. The shower and bed sheets had hair upon arrival. The jetted tub…had enough hot water to fill 3-4 inches only. We were told by staff the whole building would be the same so switching rooms would do no good. The noise level all hours into the night and early morning each and every day was maddening. There were doors slamming all the time so very little sleep was had. Overall we were very disappointed. We live in our RV and needed to be in alternative lodging for a week while it was in for repair. The Decatur, Indiana Quality Inn was one of a few recommendations made by the repair facility. I stopped in at the Quality Inn (intending to visit the others as well) to check on availability and was so impressed with the helpfulness of the staff that I decided to look no further and arranged for our stay. We did not know how short or long our stay would be as we were at the mercy of the repair facility. Our entire experience was positive from my first impression to check-out and therefore warrants a good review. In short, there were no mistakes, problems, or even minor inconveniences during our stay, so this review is deservedly 5-stars. There were NO low points. HIGH POINTS: Front desk staff was friendly and professional. They expressed genuine interest in my situation and accommodated my needs (timing, low floor, pets). Housekeeping was beyond exceptional. All our room needs were met, and housekeepers inquired whether we needed anything anytime we passed them in the halls. This actually happened multiple times from multiple staff members throughout our stay! The breakfast area was always orderly, clean and was kept stocked during the 3+ hour serving period. That period is supposed to start at 6 AM but the breakfast area was fully ready to serve occupants an hour earlier every day. Amenities include a sitting area near the entry, internet access, very nice pool, exercise facility, meeting/conference room, and ample parking that could accommodate a big rig or two. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms have 32” cable TVs, a desk with good lighting, and plenty power receptacles as well as USB charging ports. The entire staff, without exception and in every respect, far exceeded our expectations. I traveled a lot during my military and employment careers and can honestly state that this week has been my most pleasant lodging stay EVER. Opportunities to Improve: Add a good quality scale to the exercise room. Personal Opinion: I know sometimes situations occur that dissatisfy some people. I will say this about that: The staff at this Quality in will go out of their way to make sure your stay is much more than just satisfactory if you simply give them the opportunity. I recommend this Quality Inn. Because of my experience here, I will be more inclined to look for a Quality Inn any time I have a need for...
