Nice campground close to the cities, right by the river. Mostly pretty meticulously maintained. The camp hosts were friendly and introduced themselves immediately once we got to our site to set up. We stayed on one of the few tent only sites, which was ample. Others in our party stayed on the 20 amp sites right next to the tent sites, and still used tents. These cost a bit more but you do have access to electricity which was nice for charging our phones and batteries etc.The amenities were fine, I especially enjoyed the private shower rooms. My one big complaint is the this park (and all Washington Co parks) do not allow dogs. This blows my mind. Our dog is a member of our family and it is unconscionable that she should be prohibited from an OUTDOORS campground, give me a break. Never in a million years would I have chosen to utilize this campground because of this fact, however the trip was planned by a family member who does not have dogs/didn't notice. We had to leave our dog with a family member, and if that had fallen through we would have cancelled. We will not be attending this campground again nor any others in Washington Co unfortunately, due to this lame rule. If someone has a loud dog barking a bunch, sure ask them to leave. If they aren't picking up their dog poop, sure charge their credit card a fee. Something, but don't exclude these beloved furry family members, they want...
Read moreMy husband and I found out while enroute to vacation with my dad that we couldn't park our RV in his driveway. Given it was a holiday weekend we had a hard time finding an available campsite close to him. We found a site with St Croix Bluffs but beginning halfway through our visit. It was supposed be service dog friendly. But our 2nd night there a park host approached us and another camper about "having the right to ask us to leave," she continued to say that she observed my service dog not under control twice. She didn't care to hear about anything I had to say. How I explained to her when she first arrived he was on his running line for exercise and was saying bye to my dad as he was leaving us for the evening. I reassured her I wouldn't let him on his runner line for the remainder of our stay by keeping him on his working leash. This way he would be in work mode. But really, a service dog is still a dog, a living creature that needs latitude on the rules. Her negative attitude was unprofessional and accusationally lying about the times she listed she observed said behaviors. Staff at public places need better training about federal and state laws regarding working animals and the differences between them. A disabled life is riddled with challenges. Without my service dog I would be nearly housebound. It is because of my dog's to ability to help me that I can access what others can...
Read moreRelatively easy to get to from Hwys 10, 61, 95 and St Croix Trail. It's a Washington County Park, so make sure you have either a day pass or annual County Park pass on your vehicle.
We camped at site #33. Abundant cover from overhanging oak trees; lots of atypical space behind campsite since there is a trail entrance and a frisbee-golf target behind it; playground and tot lot across the road. Good for tenting and pop-up camping. Quiet for the most part. Note that electrical at this site is 20A-120V service only. 1/4 mile walk to main bathrooms and showers; pit toilet close by but not too close.
Park has access to a beach on the river near the boat ramp. Water is relatively shallow for the little ones but deep enough for a good swim in the river. Lots of boats on the river over holiday weekends.
Speaking of boat ramp: It's huge. Lots of parking. It can serve 3 boats at a time. Protected by harbor and backwater area.
Hmmm...what else? Nice trails in the areas that go through the upland prairie. Firewood sold for $6 a bundle. Lots of day use activity areas including softball diamond, volleyball courts and playgrounds. Overall clean, well-maintained and safe. We...
