We stayed recently at Pine Haven Campground and wanted to share our review. A little long but we like to address as much as possible to help another camper. ||Average park but overall disappointed. ||Campground is not very well maintained. Grass is high everywhere which causes bug bites at the ankles, lake water is dirty with a lot of debris underwater to step on but more importantly, lake closed because of high bacteria levels. This is a HUGE health issue. |Beach is a good size but is not raked or well kept, some chairs available but no umbrellas. Most roads are noisy with a crushed seashell base, which created clouds of dirt every time a vehicle or golf cart went by. Our vehicle was completely covered in dirt by the time we left. Multiple empty sites throughout park. All were unkept with high grass, used as parking for neighboring sites or had trash/debris on them, which took away from aesthetics. ||Office staff seemed nice. Manager was not a happy person though, which was obvious both from our first encounter, and watching her with others in office. Never saw her outside of the office. |Kids had some activities but did not seem like there was a lot for them to do. Game room was closed almost the entire time and only had few older machines. No vending machines for after hours drink, snacks or ice cream any where. ||WiFi is not only horrendous but very expensive as well. Connections were poor, calls & websites dropped often, streaming was not possible and hard wire TV channels were limited and choppy. WiFi is a huge fail here.||Families at the park are polite and friendly, but more of them than we would have liked were loud partiers. We saw no security in the park at all the whole time we were there, day or night. Loud music and loud conversations go on well into the early morning hours, keeping others awake. The unenforced and disrespected quiet time for everyone's very close neighbors was very disappointing.||Rental cabins were decent size but dirty and aged. They are all log cabins with basic wood everything interiors. A little too much wood IMO. We did have dirty pots in the stove and someone's leftover lunch still in the microwave but it's a log cabin in a campground, not a 5 star hotel so we overlooked it.||Trash area is accessible 24/7 which was great but the entire trash area is littered with overflowing dumpsters, debris and mud. Huge piles of leaves/branches, metal, and bulk trash that are simply an eyesore, a haven for mice & rats, and your shoes or tires are covered in mud when you leave. ||Septic odors are strong throughout the park. Especially anyplace close to one of their many septic tanks. I don't know how some of the folks live next to these tanks as the odor is horrible all day long. There are many tanks scattered around so you hit the smell often. Having to smell this as much as we did was not appealing at all. ||This is a pet friendly park with several dog enclosures (all of which unfortunately had overgrown grass and numerous smelly poop piles in them). We saw many dogs as we walked around and most seemed very friendly. Some dogs were very large though and I'm thinking there's no way the owner's would physically be able to restrain them if there was an issue. Especially the lady with the two huge rottweilers. A little scary TBH. We are dog lovers for sure but my personal feeling on this is there should be a weight limit in a place like this. ||Camp store was not open late and was somewhat sparsely stocked. Staff was very friendly. There is an ice cream window but again, it's not open late, even on weekends or during an outdoor concert, which was a bit odd. Only one laundry room that we could find throughout the entire park. All washers/dryers were being used every time we stopped in to do wash. This is a pretty big campground for only one laundry room with 6 or so machines in it.||One thing we did notice was the main road is narrow in multiple places, with trees right up against the roads edge. Some of them had chunks missing where they were obviously hit at some point. It is difficult to get two vehicles to pass without one of them stopping and pulling off to the side. I can't imagine pulling a camper with the low hanging trees and narrow passes. Many people walking or kids riding bikes on this road as well, which just doesn't seem safe with the limited space and heavy vehicle traffic. ||They also have fencing right on top of some corners, so anyone towing a trailer will have extreme difficulty making a turn, if at all. Not very well thought out IMO.||This is an OK park. We made the best of our time there, met a lot of very friendly people but I really doubt we will return. We have been in much nicer parks for much less money. However, we did like the option to use golf carts in this park. Most others don't allow them but a golf cart definitely helped with all the moving around in the park. ||After a quick review, Pine Haven appears to be one of the higher priced campgrounds in the area with less to offer and less curb appeal. Pine Haven Campground appears to be a classic example of owners charging as much as they can, and doing as little...
Read moreFirst off I will say the campground itself and its amenities are excellent!!! Very clean and lots to do. Cabins are beautiful! The customer service however is really lacking. Me and my family decided to book a site or cabin near the Seaisle City area in NJ. I called around a couple places with no luck until I called Pine Haven. To my surprise they had several cabins open for the time we wanted to go but thier computers were down and they could not book me for a couple days. I called back the next two days and managed to get a hold of someone that took my credit card but said the computers were still down. That was a Saturday. I called the following Monday and was promised a call back that day, which I never got. I called again later that same day and told them since we were 4 days away I really needed to know if we were ok to come . Finally I got the woman on the phone that I originally spoke with, she didnt seem to remember talking to me but when I gave her my name she said... "Oh thats whos credit card info we have here". She assured me it was ok to come and she had the cabins available. Fast forward to Thursday, we arrived to check in at 3pm. The woman behind the desk looked puzzled and said well we weren't expecting you till tomorrow... I said oh no I called several times to ensure there were no mix ups... She then confirmed with me what I paid on my card and had to add it up to make sure my payment included the (extra day they didnt know I was coming in on... apparently computers were still down) After she tried to call someone on the phone she finally said ok we will just make an execuative decision and check you in. We only got 1 key with our cabin and two keys with the other (we got 2 cabins) this wasnt that big a deal but we were never given gate keys. My wife went for coffee that next morning and no one was there to let her in the campground.. a very rude gentleman stopped on his way out and my wife asked him how she gets in... he never said a word.. rolled his eyes and swiped his key for her then got back in his truck. After talking to the office they said we had to dial xxx on the keypad to get in... that would have been nice to know. We also ran into an issue attempting to do laundry which you need a card for... well they couldnt find a card so the lady working the desk actually gave my sister her personal one.. which was awesome! Of course they took a $25 hold (incase we lost the card and totally understandable) but when she went to give the card back they couldnt find the $25.. finally they did and gave it back to her. There is a total lack of organization here and none of us could understand how such an awesome campgound could be run so haphazardly.... Now the two things that really triggered me to write this review...
1- On the last day with checkout at 11am we asked to stay at the Cabin till 3-4pm.. they wanted to charge us another $99 per cabin which I understand but they literally had 10-12 cabins in the same row as us.. totally open with no one coming in... youd think after all this they would say hey... give us $50 and stay till 3.. Nope. So we checked out at 11. Even with all that we asked about booking for next year and that was a NO.. not cause they didn't have spots but because they didnt know how to use their computers..
2- And this is a VERY BIG issue... PEOPLE FLY AROUND THAT CAMPGROUND.. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 5 MPH AND YOU'D THINK IT WAS 20!!! NOT ONLY IN THEIR VEHICLES BUT GOLF CARTS ALSO, ZIPPING BY EVERYWHERE ESPECIALLY ON THE WEEKEND!!! If you have SMALL KIDS as I do please be aware of this before booking!!!
Overall this is one of the nicest campgounds we have ever been to and extremely clean with tons to do, but the customer service is horrible and the fact that people drive around like its the Indy 500 make it a two star for me and my family. Having said all that, we did run into a seasonal guy there and he said the new owners also manage a couple other camgrounds in the area so we are hoping it gets better cause we love the campground and really want to book again...
Read moreMy family of 3 (2 adults, 1 toddler) rented a pet-friendly cabin for a week in August. There were pros and cons to our stay. Ultimately, I would not return for another vacation here. For the price we paid to stay for a week, I would try a different campground next year.
Pros pet-friendly accommodations, including allowing dogs to swim in the back end of the lake 2 large swimming pools, and a smaller kiddie pool (2ft. deep) many daily planned activities for the kids including theme weekends (it was "Halloween" while we were there) Michelle in housekeeping was extremely helpful and the bright spot of the entire staff water pressure in the shower was very good TP, bath towels, all bedding and pillows, and paper towels were supplied for renters general store on site which sold various pool toys, pre-packaged food, ice cream, drinks, wood, ice, etc. distance to Sea Isle City is great (10 mins). the campground location is extremely convenient to Wawa, pizza places, ice cream, Asian food, and a liquor store. also very close to the Garden State Parkway. 2 nice playgrounds for the kids near both lakes (one lake was for fishing only) each site has a picnic table, a grill, and a fire pit
Cons cabin was advertised as "sleeps 9", yet the pull out couch mattress was unbelievably uncomfortable. I nicknamed it "spring city" b/c I could feel every single mattress spring digging into my back the mattresses on the other beds were insanely uncomfortable. they were covered in plastic which made the sheets slip off every time you moved. we actually checked out a day early b/c of how uncomfortable the beds were to sleep on the check in process was very strange due to not being able to ask general questions. each renter is assigned a "concierge" who is dedicated to helping answer questions or give out information. our concierge literally never answered her work cell phone to answer any questions, and her voicemail was not set up. apparently she didn't even work on Mon or Tues, but she neglected to tell me so everyone uses golf carts to get around the campground. it costs $60 a day to rent one! I felt for the price we paid to rent for a week a golf cart should be included. we decided on our last day to rent one b/c our son loved riding on one, but they were sold out the poolside snack stand closed at 6 p.m. which is ridiculous. it is summer time and 6 p.m. is dinner time. also the snack stand was very pricey our pots and pans were broken and filthy there are no umbrellas or shade provided in the pool area. everyone brought their own pop up tents or umbrellas there was a very small arcade that I never saw anyone in, and the basketball court only had 1 hoop the bathhouses were filthy and the closest one to the renters cabins was under...
