Words cannot even begin to describe Derby Line Inn. From the beautiful historic decor to the outrageously plush and comfy bedding every detail of the inn is clearly cared for and well thought through. Paula and Fritz are two of the kindest individuals I've ever had the pleasure of staying with and their long history of experience in the restaurant biz is evident in every detail. There are so many beautiful and intimate spaces around the property to explore, as well as lovely gardens and the tennis court being built in back will only make the property that much easier to enjoy. Not only are the grounds and inn exceptional, but the restaurant is where Derby Line truly soars. Every bite of every meal leaves one thinking "oh my goodness that's the best thing I've ever eaten!" and makes the temptation to lick every plate clean near impossible to resist (The 5 added pounds I brought home from the trip were scientific proof of this!) Fritz and his kitchen team are true culinary artists and bring Austrian cuisine and Vermont flavors together in a beautiful harmony of taste and creativity that will leave any with the luck to enjoy a meal at Derby Line both pleased and inspired. The serving staff is attentive and caring, guided by Paula's exceptional management, and the decor has a comfortable way of showcasing the history of the space without being over the top. The beer and wine selection is well and the servers are well versed in whats available for pairing selections. Well worth the trip up from CT and an absolute MUST if you're anywhere remotely within driving distance of Derby Line! Have already recommended the Inn to all of my friends and loved ones and I just got back home yesterday. Can't wait to go back soon! Thanks again for the...
Read moreLovely period inn! Review of Derby Line Village Inn Pending review My husband and I were in town for just one evening and we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Derby Line Village Inn. This period inn with its antique furnishings and fixtures was just what we were looking for. (We are also in the hospitality business and welcome guests to our 343 year old antique home, so we appreciate the value of their preservation work!) We stayed in Room 2, with a spacious bathroom and tub/shower, king bed and lovely views overlooking the garden. The bedding was pristine, the bed was exquisite, the room was immaculate and the space was large and comfortable. It was very warm out, but the air conditioning worked great. There is also an electric fireplace for ambiance in the cooler months, and we may go back in the fall to enjoy the beautiful country scenery. The owner, Paula, was just delightful and we loved chatting with her and getting information about the local area. She and her husband, Chef-owner Fritz, take beautiful care of the well-manicured grounds--the flowers were everywhere! The full breakfast was one of the best I've had at an American Bed and Breakfast establishment. Fritz makes homemade Austrian style pastries (apple strudel and cinnamon rolls), also, housemade sausages, eggs, grilled tomato, fresh fruit skewers, juice and delicious coffee. There are no televisions in the rooms, which is fine by me, but the wifi is great so if you need entertainment, just bring a tablet. This was a very reasonably priced inn and I highly recommend...
Read moreOutstanding stay in every way!
Arrived a bit late after last seating but accommodated us anyway. We had the best waitress (doubled as bartender) in recent memory that was engaging, fun and guided us through all the food options and wine options. CANNOT find a better server than this and enhanced our dinner experience.
Dinner generously comes with side salads and bread and both were delicious. We ordered the snail and shrimp provencal and was great with a ton of mushrooms. For main course we ordered the seafood linguine and chicken wienerschnitzal. The seafood linguine was just ok but we are from the best seafood region in the US so have extremely high expectations and you might still enjoy it. The Wiener schnitzel on the other hand was best in class and OUTSTANDING and about the best I have ever had. The room #3 was large and beautifully appointed with an incredible post bed with canopy. Large windows with nice breeze blowing through and had a very quiet, peaceful rest. In the morning I had cappuccino in the arbor with the two resident boxers Rosie and Banana and the owner Fritz came out, picked a bunch of sweet grapes off the arbor and had a nice pre breakfast fruit snack. Breakfast was outstanding with TOP NOTCH homemade pastries followed by eggs and homemade sausage……DELICIOUS!!! This place delivers in every way….the owners, Fritz and Paula (and the waitress Tarin) are what Inn keepers are supposed to be…nice, accommodating but ON THEIR “A” GAME IN EVERY WAY. Highly recommend and will...
