After a 24 hour drive and barely getting any sleep driving up from the West Coast we stumbled upon the Extend a Suites, the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful, it was around 12 am. She told me that we needed to look at the room because they did not offer refunds. The first room I looked at looked clean however the TV was on and one of three beds wasn't made properly. So I checked out another room and it appeared clean and would've been sufficient. I booked for four nights and within 5 minutes of paying and realizing we had to leave the 4th night I booked I called the front desk and told them that I had made a mistake and only needed 3 nights as we would be leaving the 4th day. She informed me that there were no refunds and I had assumed in my sleep deprived state that only converted satisfaction not that they would charge me for a night that I couldn't stay if I wanted to. I was told to talk to the manager Monday as she could offer a refund. I talked to the manager and she said it was out of her hands and she couldn't offer a refund if she wanted to.||||Aside from the fact that they wouldn't refund my money for the night we couldn't stay the place is disgusting. Carpets are filthy, it looks like they have never vacuumed the hall ways, or entrance ways. We had a lamp in our room where the power cord was cut, roach traps everywhere, stained towels, peeling paint, the deadbolt didn't lock, the safety lock fell off the wall, the other unit had a refrigerator and this one didn't so they brought us one which was disgusting... I was told not to use the ice machine as roaches were in there. The place is so run down and with little work it could actually be a decent place it just appears that management / three owners don't care. ||||||I would rather break the bank than stay...
Read moreWe were driving to Colorado from PA and planned on stopping over in Des Moines on our first night of the trip. After driving all day, we booked the Extend A Suite hotel through Priceline.||||When we got off the exit we could not find the hotel as there was no sign out front. We called and the front desk had no idea who we were/did not have our reservation but gave directions anyway. ||||We pull into the parking lot and immediately knew something was off. There were maybe 3 cars and some seedy looking guys outside sauntering around with beverages in brown paper bags, smoking cigarettes. We were immediately sketched out but pulled around back and decided to check it out.|| ||We left our car and hesitantly walked in the back door, through the hotel, to the front desk and along the way we saw doors cracked open with barely clothed people inside, dirty carpets, cigarette smoke everywhere, and you could even see from the outside that some curtains were pulled down off of the windows in the rooms. ||||When we made it to the front desk the women at the counter were in street clothes and shot us a "what are you doing here" kind of look. We explained that we had booked a room on Priceline but they couldn't find the reservation, thank goodness, so we thanked them and bolted out of there. I could not get out of there fast enough. ||||I am not a picky person when it comes to hotels but this place felt straight up dangerous. My best assumption is that this place is some kind of drug den/hang out for local ne-er-do-wells. I would not under any circumstances recommend that anyone set foot inside this place, let alone spend a night there. Just...
Read moreBooked this room last minute on a long road trip. Took forever to find the building because the name on the sign in their parking lot didn't match the name on Hotels.com. The instant we pulled up we noticed the ply wood covering at least one window in every room but we went in anyway. The front desk attendant was friendly but she had us check out the room before checking us in, that should have been the red flag to make us leave but we lugged our bags upstairs (no elevator) and went in the room. We were in there for about 60 seconds before cockroaches started crawling all over the walls in the room and on the floor in the bathroom. We hightailed it back downstairs and the lady was not surprised at all about the bugs and didn't offer a different room or any other solution. She assured us we wouldn't be charged so we left as fast as possible and found a different hotel. Aside from the bugs, the place was extremely run down, dirty, and overall disgusting. This place should be condemned, at the very least I think Hotels.com might want to remove it from their offerings because it really is a dump and not even worth the $51/night they...
