I honestly want to give a bad review just so that people will stay away and I am more likely to get a spot when I come back through the area :-) , but that would be selfish of me, so I won't. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the owners who went above and beyond for my wife and I, brought us to our site, brought us over firewood, and were the perfect hosts! The campground was extremely clean, well maintained, grass was well kept, had all of the necessary hookups required, level pad, areas for kids and families to play inside & outside (rec hall), nice concrete pads & dining tables at each site, fire pits at each site, paddle boats, recycling, free wifi, bikes, free 30 channel tv, playgrounds, ladder golf, horse shoes, basketball, volleyball, 9-hole chipping golf course, very clean & well maintained laundry room, bathrooms & showers, and so much more! It reminded me of going to my grandparents in the country and always having something to do and play with, while also being so well kept and maintained. Finally, a 5 minute drive to downtown DL where you can enjoy all of the fun there as well. We can't wait to come back with our two children! Thank you!

I stayed 6 nights in fhu back-in #18. Very nice camp. Well maintained. Quiet besides the occasional train which is a non-issue for me. The wi-fi works well. Slowed for web searches though when packed on weekend but that was just on my cell. I had no issues working with my laptop during same time. They also have a cable hook-up with a decent amount of channels. A bit grainy for me at first but watchable. It cleared up later in week. Sunsets were very pretty. Enjoyed walking around the park. Many areas for kids to play with two playground, swings, and a seesaw. And adults too with a basketball court, chipping golf area, horseshoes, volleyball and much more with equipment you can pick up at the office as well as supplies in snacks for sale in there too. Also, a gameroom/clubhouse with shuffleboard, foosball, ping pong, and pool. The bathrooms very clean and showers hot. Laundry room is nice and affordable. Owners super friendly. And they recycle too. Yay! I definitely enjoyed my time here and would stay here again. Especially, will need to come back to find all these hidden trolls around town.

I had a great experience at Country campground in lovely Detroit lakes. The campground was quiet and well maintained. The owners clearly took pride in their business. I arrived late, past their normal check-in time. The owners had no problem letting me in and showing me to my site. They really went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. In fact they came out to our site several times to jumpstart My friend's car. The sites were large and well maintained. I believe most of them were Full hookups. The rec room was one of the best I've ever seen, with every type of table game imaginable. They even had a very large dining area where I can imagine you could host quite a party. The only bad thing I can say is that for some reason there were a lot of flies there. Both horses flies around the perimeter where you had to walk your dog and at the sites, there were lots of common house flies. I don't know if this was because we were surrounded by cornfields or whether this was a normal thing.

If you are looking to party this is not the place for you. Truly a family campground, with clean bathrooms, clean showers, and a clean laundry room with very reasonable prices. They have 2 fenced play areas, basketball court, volleyball/badminton court, and horseshoes. The office has everything you need to play, they even have golf clubs to use the golfing holes (8 holes I think) They have a “community center” for bigger gatherings for campers to use. I talked with one group, and they meet here every year because of that room. The group consists of friends from different parts of the country that gather and that building lets them eat together and enjoy the company of friends. The community room has games, air hockey, foosball table and shuffleboard tables, books to read and puzzles. The community room also has a screened-in sitting area. I spent almost all last year’s season there and wish I could go back this year, but our work isn’t in the area this summer. Even during WE Fest, it is still a family campground and there is not a better spot to view WE Fest fireworks, take your chairs to the front of the campground, near the office, and park yourself on the other side of the drive, best view! Want to bring your boat to enjoy the lakes, no problem they have a large parking area for boats and extra cars. Detroit Lakes is a great little town that is a gem. Plenty of restaurants to try and one you can drive your boat to! WE Fest happens every August and it brings in quite a few folks to enjoy camping and music. The Hotel Shoreham was one of my favorite places to eat, such a long history! The Fireside was our most expensive but "worth it" meals. There are burger chains but no steakhouse chains and, like I said, plenty of options if you want a meal out! Todd and Karen work hard to keep the campground up to snuff. Todd even got us to recycle with his if you don’t know, no problem attitude, they will bring a can to your site and take care of it when you fill it with recyclables. Who does that? Todd and Karen do! I was surprised at how many times we filled that can! The campground is out in the country and just minutes from town. If you want to relax and just breathe for a bit give Todd and Karen a try, they truly want guest to enjoy their time at the “Country Campground.”

We plan on going back so I can fish some more small lakes in my kayak. The wife will just hang at the campground and watch...

We booked this campground in advance of a two and a half week RV trip to visit family and friends in different parts of Minnesota. We chose this location for three nights. As most of the reviews describe the grounds are well maintained. And the bathroom/shower area was very clean and nice. The camp owners were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived.||We mistakenly thought this campground was closer to the main Detroit Lakes area, and that the site was actually on a lake. When we arrived, we discovered that was not the case. We had plans to spend time in the lakes area, and had hoped for a lake view.||Though we had already paid for and confirmed our stay, we decided to see if we could find a spot closer to the lakes area since we did not want to unhook our motor home and try to park by the lake area each day. Fortunately we found a spot that would allow us to walk to the lake businesses and was located on the lake.||When we informed the camp owners of our change in plans, we asked about a refund for the remaining nights. Many campgrounds refund unused nights if you leave early. We were informed no nights would be refunded.||We understand it was our mistake for not researching better and they did not have to refund anything. It would have been nice if they had refunded two of the three days - most other camps would have done that. Lessons learned on our part. In the end, we had a great three days in...

We mistakenly thought this campground was closer to the main Detroit Lakes area, and that the site was actually on a lake. When we arrived, we discovered that was not the case. We had plans to spend time in the lakes area, and had hoped for a lake view.
