Boyd Farmhouse Inn — Hotel in DeWitt

I did not get a room. I just had dinner on Feb. 18, 2023, at 9:00 pm. I had a cheeseburger all the way with bacon and BBQ sauce, fries, and unsweetened iced tea. The cheeseburger was excellent, though so tall that taking a bite at first was tricky. Also, the bottom bun was stale, but I chalk that up to an honest mistake. It really didn't matter, because the rest of the burger was so good. I asked for it medium-rare, and I got it medium-rare. The fries were salted, so if you can't handle salt, mention it to the waitress. Service was excellent. The place was clean. The chairs were comfortable for hard wooden chairs. Very comfortable atmosphere overall. I will be coming back as often as I can. My only complaints are that they have a very limited menu, but then they have been open only a few months (I come to DeWitt often and I used to watch this hotel being built as I drove into town). Also, the prices are a tad expensive, but the food is worth the money. My tab for everything, including taxes but not the tip, was $18.42. As you can see in the photos, they do have a nice bar. The hotel is nice and decorated in a cute rustic way. The beds are pretty comfortable and it is pretty clean. The staff is friendly. There are however several things that could be improved.

The main thing is there is no sound proofing. We can hear people talking in the lobby from our room on the far end of the hallway. We can also hear every line of the movie playing next door and every sneeze, cough, and alarm from any of the rooms around us. Doesn't make for great sleep.

Then there are several small things that could be different to make it a nicer place to stay. There are no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. There is only one set of curtains/ no blinds so you either have light and no privacy, or privacy and no light in the room. There is generally not enough lighting in the rooms.

Breakfast is okay, but nothing to write home about. However, there aren't a lot of other options...

I have stayed here twice while hunting in the area. The service has been great. The price is excellent. Always clean. Free WiFi. IMO the beds are more comfortable than most hotel beds. I have not tried the food as I always left before breakfast. My only complaint is what most people say on here, the noise. Ask for a room 3/4 to the end of the hallway on the left, away from the bar and grill. You’re far enough away not to hear the bar while also not too close to hear the back door slamming when people go in and out.
