This place is nice if you like to swim in chemicals and sewage To those that don't know, there's a wastewater treatment plant less than a mile south of the lake. The plant "accepts residential and some commercial wastewater, and discharges treated wastewater to the groundwater". This waste water then flows north directly into the lakes y'all are swimming in and eating fish out of. "estimated groundwater flow direction is to the north/northwest." I can't think of a worse place to treat wastewater. All of this info can be found on michigan.gov

Gorgeous scenery, especially with fall colors in full show. Not hard to get a campsite at even the day of (during the week I mean. I'm not sure about the weekend). Clean place with considerate neighbors and no outside noise from highways or planes or anything. Did not encounter any horrendous bugs or wildlife while there.

I spent a couple days here and it was fantastic. Some of the sites have a bit of an incline but you can work with it. Lots of bluegill to catch and Silver lake is a short drive away. The pit toilets were clean and maintained. Rent out C11 if you can; it's big and off the main road.

This is an excellent rustic campground. Quiet and not over crowded. Peaceful place to paddle although crooked lake itself is not very big. The launch is nice and not overgrown. Staff at the park hq are helpful and kind and the hq is open even on a Sunday which is nice. They sell firewood for a good price.

Mostly tents because it's not really set up for rigs and there's no electric. Vault toilets only. The hand pump wasn't working but I could get water at silver lake. Kind of a bummer but not a big deal. I stopped in to tell them about it and I'm sure they'll set it right soon.

It's nice to find a spot for a Saturday night. And I like how small this place is (25 sites ) Excellent basecamp for hiking and paddling. Both times I've stayed here the experience was quiet and pleasant with plenty to do in the...

Nope. Site C23 is a dirt hole which from the pictures looked like it was mostly grass...my bad for not noticing the pictures were from 2013. There was trash in the fire pit and nothing was cleaned or picked up prior to our arrival. The park staff would drive by to make sure the people who were supposed to depart that day were gone but were too lazy to get out of their little golf cart thing and check for garbage. Staff would also close the lids of the toilets with their dirty feet which meant that someone else had to touch that seat with their hands and not to mention the vault toilets were not properly taken care of. You'll want to have bottled water because the well water (when you could get any to pump) was as brown as the dirt itself. ...

Love this campground! Rustic is in the name, so you should not be expecting a lot of facilities. There's 2 vault toilets with some hand sanitizer and that's it, but the toilets were kept clean, I saw someone cleaning it out in the morning.

The view is beautiful and all the campsites are arranged along the lake. There's a dock to watch the sunset over the lake, which is positioned perfectly (I imagine people also use it for fishing lol).

There's a hiking trailhead within walking distance to do the Crooked Lake loop or branch off to the Silver Lake loop as well.

Overall, perfect spacious sites for tent campers and hikers. I saw people with smaller pull-behind campers as well, so it's doable, but I think these are more prime...
