We had an outstanding stay at The Chalet. Hanneke and George could not have been more welcoming hosts, and when we asked, they were eager to provide us with maps and information on their favorite hikes, restaurants, and other destinations in the area. If you're looking to explore the beautiful surroundings, it's only ~15 minutes to the entrances to the Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and George & Hanneke have more than 25 years' experience in the area to suggest the must-dos and the must-not-dos. You don't even need to leave the property to have a great stay though; the room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, there's some great hiking on the property (including clearings they've made for hammocks and watching the sun set over the Smokies), plenty of games (badminton was a favorite), a fire pit next to a beautiful lily pond (Hanneke has all the supplies needed for s'mores), a library with tons of books and magazines and comfortable chairs, and the Chalet Stube, a little store on the property with tons of great snacks and drinks (plus meats if you want to use the Chalet grill!). We were most struck by George and Hanneke's friendliness and attention to detail - it's clear that they have and continue to put a great deal of effort into ensuring that all their guests have a relaxing and memorable stay. The personal breakfasts served to our room each morning were delicious, and the portions were more than generous. We barely needed lunch all week! All in all, an top-notch family-owned B&B with a highly personal touch and remarkably friendly, attentive, and personable owners. We'll make a point of staying here next time we're...
Read moreI highly recommend Outland to anyone looking for a place to stay in the great smoky mountains! We had a small wedding and rented out the whole property. The rooms all had a nice charm and our guests loved having a private bathroom for each suite. Our group spent several nights in the club room telling old stories and making new memories. We comfortably had 26 people stay between the chalet and the suites. The property itself was immaculately maintained with nicely cleared hiking trails, and ample parking on site. The properties ability to host small events such as ours was really impressive at this price point. The entire outdoor space is worth a separate review, we stayed in peak season during October and the whole area was gorgeous. For our wedding reception, we used the event lawn. The lawn is equipped with several power outlets and plenty of space, while still keeping the intimate setting we hoped for. The ownership team went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The Outland is nestled on the side of a mountain off a nice, quiet street. However, still being close enough to visit Sylva, Cherokee and Bryson City within 15 minutes of the property. This was to the delight of our guests as outside of our wedding day, we went out to see everything these lovely small towns had to offer. We visited local breweries, tried delicious eateries, and enjoyed the friendly local shops.
If you’re a couple or even a large group like us, we can’t recommend the Outland Chalet & Suites enough!!!!
We hope to return...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews honestly because many places we’ve stayed have never really STUCK out to us. But this place did, this place was absolutely wonderful and peaceful! It’s our 10 year anniversary this last weekend and we were greeted as we pulled in Friday and just felt completely welcomed and assured that if we were to occur any issues to please let them know so they could fix it. We had no issues at all this weekend however because everything was just perfect and worked as should and we were provided all we needed. When you walk into your room you can tell they definitely go above and beyond for guests. It was just the perfect size room and the steam shower was awesome, and sitting in the jetted tub relaxing all while being able to watch Netflix, we felt very spoiled and relaxed lol. It was such an amazing weekend and this will not be the last time we stay here. It is secluded enough to where you actually get to enjoy the mountain feel and nature but also just in a sweet spot of being near plenty of places to eat and places to go and visit.
Thank you so much for providing such an amazing...
