Camp Netimus For Girls — Hotel in Dingman Township

I sent my two daughters for three weeks to Camp Netimus in 2022. One of them, my 9 y/o had a blast. My second one, 12 y/o had to be picked up after the first week because she had an awful time. The problem was that she was placed with older girls. The camp reimbursed us for the total cost of the camp. The most troubling component was that the administration lied to me. From the first day when they sent us pictures of the girls I could tell my daughter was not happy and that her cabin mates were older. I called and emailed several times and was assured that was not the case. When I finally was able to speak to my daughter after the first week, the first thing she did, with no prompt from us, was cry and she said that the girls in her cabin were all older and were teasing her calling her “child”. She also said that the girls were all mean to each other and would talk about killing themselves. She said one of the girls smeared period blood over the walls and left the dirty panties with soiled pad on the floor. Once confronted, the admin claimed it was a misunderstanding, that they had misread the information in all of the other girls’ paperwork and thought they were all younger. My daughter absolutely loved her experience at camp Netimus! Unfortunately, COVID happened after her first year there so she has missed the last two summers- but when we saw returning to Camp Netimus was on her bucket list I immediately knew I needed to reach out and make it happen for her this up-coming summer of 2023. Sending your daughter away to a sleep away camp can be daunting. The directors, counselors, and other campers were all so wonderful and made the transition as easy as possible! When her time was up she wrote and wanted to stay, but unfortunately with other summer obligations she was unable to. When my daughter came home she was a different girl! She had grown so much during her time with Netimus. I could tell she gained responsibility, personal growth and self love during her summer there. Camp Netimus is everything you could want a camp to be. My daughter has become more independent, more resilient, and more thoughtful. She has become more comfortable in her own skin and has learned what real friendship is about. Netimus is a warm environment where every girl is appreciated and shines. And that's not to mention the fun! She has so much fun--horseback riding, ropes course, sports, paddle boarding, sliding down the giant inflatable slide into the lake! She loves being able to choose her activities and I love that the activities are mixed ages. Everyone knows everyone and the older kids look out for the younger ones.
