I have stayed at the Dixon Club a handful of times now, and each time it is consistent. Clean, friendly, small-town type motel. Rooms are updated and modern. The surprise this time was the large room I got on the second floor! It was easily large enough for a family of four, and gave me plenty of room to work in. My view out the window onto the little town provided some interesting watching of all the mule deer coming to graze at twilight, and the locals attempting to chase a buck around. The Dixon Club bar is across the street, which is a nice updated bar where I've never felt uncomfortable going in for a drink. (You know how some of those small town bars can be creepy to go in, and everyone turns and looks at you and you feel so out of place? This place is pretty welcoming to all.) Sadly, my room had clearly not been vacuumed before I arrived, the water pressure was weak, and the exterior door squeaked terribly so I woke up many times between 5 and 6 am when my fellow patrons were leaving. (Don't worry, next traveler: I oiled the hinges for you, so you'll sleep better than I did!) I would recommend it over the hotels in Baggs because it's only 7 miles from Baggs, yet escapes much of the heavy truck traffic that is noisy on the highway there. It feels a little safer being in a smaller area. Best of all, Dixon has an illustrious, truly western history: although it doesn't look like much now, it was a favorite hang-out spot for the Wild Bunch, who frequently spent big bucks in the local bars after robbing trains or banks. Back in the 1880s, Dixon was lawless and wild, constables were crooked, shootings were weekly, and jail-breaks were the norm. Today, it's quiet, safe, and rural, but I like imagining Butch Cassidy lighting up the night with his pistol...
Read moreThe good.. Owner and daughter are very nice people. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable with conversation and service. Montana was awesome as a bartender. ||||The other stuff...The room was honestly not great. Beds were hard. TV was from the early 90s. Heat didn't work at all. Started a 3 day stay with 1/4 roll of TP that was never replenished even though we asked the owner for more after first night. Food at the bar was honestly a bit weird. I don't recommend eating there. Beer and food seemed overpriced. ||||This place is for sale and has potential if whoever buys it is willing to invest in a remodel...
Read moreHorrible. Again horrible. The owner is incredibly rude, and gets upset to have to do anything extra. I felt incredibly uncomfortable my entire stay, like since I had asked for normal hotel accommodations I had put the owner at odds and now she was watching me. Also most hotels try and make you feel at home, not here. The slogan is pay me, and get out. I would highly recommend driving 7 minutes to the other hotel. Horrible. The worst place I have ever stayed. And talk about pricey, 85 bucks a night starting, and that's off you do every thing perfectly and to The owners liking and don't get hit with...
