I have been renting vacation homes from Jack for about 20 years. I plan a large ski trip every year that has ranged from 40-100 people. We have rented numerous of his properties. More than one ski trip a year on occasion, and even some summer gatherings as well. I can honestly tell you, that it's always the best weekend of the year in every way, shape, and form. Every single year the excitement builds up as we can’t want for that weekend to come. It feels like home to us when we are there.
All of the properties are beautiful and have countless amenities from indoor pools to tennis courts. The houses and grounds are always well maintained, and they are always making improvements.
The staff is always respectful and attentive, maintaining the pools, keeping the fires, and collecting the trash. Every time we come up the houses are clean and ready for us to have a great time.
Jack is amazing by the way. He's extremely friendly, accommodating, attentive to anything you might need, well organized, and always has a timeless eventful story up his sleeve. We love him. And in the winter, he'll bring discounted ski passes right to you, any time of day. Makes it so easy for you to wake up, drive half a mile, and go right up the mountain.
Our group flies in from across the whole country just to reunite and make memories together, and these houses are where we want to do it, every single time... forever. Having multiple huge properties next to each other, we're able to all be together in one place. The houses are perfect, beautiful woodwork and amenities, more than enough bathrooms, and plenty of spacious areas to have big family meals, cookouts, sporting event, and play games. We've played slip in slide, dodgeball, kickball, pool tournaments, cornhole tournaments, cookouts, tons of board games, yoga, salsa dancing, live bands, dj's, wiffleball, swimming races, snowmen competitions... you name it, we've done it, and theirs a spot for it. Not only that, but with mount snow less than a mile away, there’s more to do then just ski and snowboard. We've gone tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hiking in the summer. Plus there is always a fun event happening at the mountain, whether it's live music or a snowboard tour. And besides mount snow, in the summer, Adams family farm is right down the street, where you can pet animals, horseback ride, or play paintball.
I really can't say enough great things, but I encourage you to plan a big outing, celebration, reunion, or any sort of event, winter or summer, bring up your food and beverages, and have a time you'll...
Read moreI have to say Thank God for family because without them I would have left this house in a heartbeat! It was filthy, outdated and half of what was offered was either broken or moldy. The pool and sauna were filthy and there was mold growing around the pool and on the cover for the pool. The electric baseboard heating was awful in the bedrooms. We were freezing the first night and no one slept. I brought all my own bedding and was still grossed out by the beds, the bathrooms, the floors etc... This house is perfect for college kids who can care less about cleanliness and outdated fire extinguishers. Smoke alarms didn't work and sliding glass doors don't lock.
The state should come in and shut this guy down. Supposedly he has 12 properties. I would advise anyone to stay clear of all his rental properties!!!!! Jack Ridgeway is a slumlord! When we told him we were freezing he brought over 2 very small space heaters for this 8 bedroom house, put duct tape on a few of the windows and gave us extra blankets that were stained and old.
In the 2 kitchen areas there are exposed pipes & electrical wires only covered with a curtain. There are fire extinguishers that were last inspected in 2010 and the pots, pans dishes etc are dirty and in exposed wood cabinets/shelves. On a positive note there is a dishwasher.
Oh and I forgot to mention that when we first reached out to Mr. Ridgeway he had offered a beautiful house for a much higher rate and "overbooked" it so he had to put us in this house and gave us a "break" in the rate. Can anyone say "bait and switch"? This guy should be fined and all our money should have been returned to us. He gave back $200 for us to split between 6 families. Is this a joke?!?!?
Reporting him to the board of...
Read moreWhen I describe the Blue House to people I call it the Hugh Hefner Mansion of Mount Snow.
I was invited randomly on a ski trip two years ago and met so many amazing people I couldn't wait to return the next year. The house has everything you need, pool, sauna, hot tub, tennis courts, shuffleboard, pool table, ping pong, bar area, movie room and more. All of the rooms have their own bathroom/shower which is great when you have up to 40 people in a house and the kitchen is a major selling point with dual stoves and ovens when cooking for the masses. The stove can be a bit tricky but it does the job.
Jack (I think he built the house, really nice guy and has great stories) came each night to give us our discounted lift passes which is a really nice perk to not deal with the ticket window in the morning. The fireplace magically is lit the entire weekend and it wasn't until the last day I actually saw the man who maintains it. Two thumbs up for that guy!!
I've told multiple family members and friends about these houses and definitely recommend! Already looking forward...
