Star House Hill Country Getaway — Hotel in Dripping Springs

This place (especially hosts Kathy & Wayne) is super-welcoming. It's not only the main things- but all the little details that make you feel like there is a lot of love that went into this place. |Inside: Kitchen had some basics that definitely came in handy for us. Living room had super comfy couch with great wifi & smart tv access. (Movies, books, games also available.) Bathroom was quaint and had good quality towels. Bedroom was perfect space- we own sleep number bed and were worried we would miss our bed- but honestly- we slept better on this bed!! It was great to have a door to a little sitting area outside the bedroom. Lots of natural light. HVAC did a great job of keeping us comfortable. |Outside: What a beauty! Watching the humming birds was such a treat. Landscaping was so beautiful. Fun feeding the goats. I love art and creative artists- do not miss walking around and appreciating Wayne's art- he is truly talented. Weather was perfect. We were given a special "tour" by Kathy & Wayne and thoroughly enjoyed seeing their garden and art. We met Charlie- he is super friendly and a joy to hold. We felt like we were in our own little zen oasis of hill country. It felt super safe and was above and beyond what we were hoping for on this get-away. |Overall: you can feel the love they have put into this property. We LOVED our stay at Star House. Me and my husband were looking for a peaceful getaway from the busy city and Star House did not disappoint. We brought our 10 month old and used the downstairs bedroom for her and we slept up in the loft so that we could use the living areas a little later. Worked perfectly for us! The property is beautiful and away from all of the hustle and bustle. It was fun to explore the property or sit and enjoy the scenery. We made a nice fire at night and sat under the stars. It’s also close to several state parks (though they were all full due to Spring Break - I recommend booking ahead!) but we still found plenty to do. Austin isn’t too far away either so we spent some time on the trails there. Overall I highly recommend Star House for a relaxing, recharging getaway. Stayed here for a nice get away. The star house was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the Dripping Springs and Johnson City area. Kathy was the best host we have ever had - from ensuring the Star house had everything we needed to providing recommendations of where to visit and where to eat. She checked on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was set with all the amenities we needed from breakfast in the fridge for the first morning, coffee, and a few snacks including some chocolate for us and dog treats for our fur kid. The property was nice and it has some really nice views. We enjoyed getting up in the morning to relax with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise. We also got to meet her husband Wayne who chatted with us about their garden and also showed us his shop where he does his wonderful metal work which is displayed throughout the property and even in the home.
